Venerable Demon King & The Doting Immortal (QT)-Chapter 47: Sharing a room
Chapter 47: Sharing a room
They devoured the food as though they hadn’t tasted anything so delicious in a very long time. It was as though they had been starved since birth. Watching them, Xiang Yu decided he would hire a human chef to bring back to the demon realm just for the twins. He would have to give the chef an offer they couldn’t resist because no normal human would simply agree to work in the demon realm.,
As he continued eating, he caught a glimpse of the innkeeper’s daughter staring at him. Her eyes quickly darted away, and she lowered her head in shyness.
Xiang Yu felt a bit uncomfortable under her gaze but chose to ignore it, focusing instead on his meal. After a few moments, he looked up at the twins. "What were you doing in that small old house earlier?" he asked, his curiosity piqued.
The twins exchanged a quick glance, clearly hesitant to answer. They didn’t want to admit they had been looking for a wife for him, knowing he wouldn’t approve. Mei quickly spoke up, urging him, "Master, it’s best not to talk while eating. You should enjoy the food."
Lian nodded in agreement, her mouth full of food. "Yes, Master. Let’s just eat for now."
Xiang Yu, "???" This was strange. For years he told them not to talk while eating but they never listened to him. In fact, he got so tired of telling them not to talk while eating that he now let them do as the pleased but now they were using his words against him. he raised an eyebrow but decided to let the matter drop, at least for now. He had other means to make them talk.
After dinner they prepared to turn in for the night. The twins had hoped to go shopping, but the city was still shaken from the recent kidnappings. Most of the stalls were closed, and the festive mood of the Lantern Festival was dampened. With no other options, the twins reluctantly agreed to go to bed.
Xiang Yu was very happy to go to bed. Well, that was when he discovered he had to share a room with the unconscious man. The reason he had to share was because the inn was full of people who had come for the festival. They had only managed to secure the last two available rooms.
This venerable one was extremely unwilling to share a room with the ugly bastard, but when the twins happily offered to share the room with the unconscious man, he immediately refused. How could he let the girls share a room with a strange man? It was very inappropriate.
"Fine, I will share with him," he decided, his tone leaving no room for argument. The twins nodded expecting this result. They knew their master was quite protective of them. Over the past few years, he had killed anyone who so much as looked at them with a gross expression be it demon or human.
They skipped away to their room, but not before reminding their master, "Please, don’t hurt him, Master." They didn’t want all the ladies in town to know that their master had killed the man he rescued overnight.
Xiang Yu grunted in response, his eyes narrowing as he entered the room. The unconscious man lay still on the bed, oblivious to the world around him. Xiang Yu glared at him resisted the urge to hit him while taking off his boots. The room was small and cramped, and the presence of this bastard only added to his discomfort.
He settled onto his bed, his mind racing with ways to torture him. How he wished he could tear that ugly face and punish him for his past misgivings. Xiang Yu had no idea that he would get that chance in the future. Despite his irritation, he knew he had to keep his temper in check. That’s because the twins seemed to care so much about this ugly thing.
As he lay down, he cast one last glance at the unconscious man. "You’d better not cause any trouble," he muttered under his breath, before pulling the covers and going to sleep.
Xiang Yu had a dreamless night, but he couldn’t shake the feeling that he was being watched. He turned restlessly, trying to find a comfortable position, but the sensation persisted. When he finally woke up, the sun was already high in the sky.
When he glanced at the side table he found a folded note. The twins had left a message for him, explaining that they had gone to find out more about the golden token.
He decided to take a bath and get rid of the filth from yesterday. With the help of the innkeeper, he organized a warm relaxing bath. When he returned, the unconscious man was still lying there, unchanged. Xiang Yu snorted coldly and walked away, heading downstairs for breakfast. The inn was bustling with activity, but he paid little attention to the other guests, focusing instead on his meal.
After breakfast, he returned to the room and took out all the medicines Lian had brought. To keep the man alive, he needed to feed him a pill to supplement his nutrition. However, looking at the array of porcelain bottles, he had no idea which one was which.
He picked one that seemed like it would do the job and ground the pill into a fine powder before mixing it with the cold tea that had lay on the table overnight.
Approaching the unconscious man, he pinched his nose and poured the medicine into his mouth. The man coughed and swallowed the mixture, his body reacting instinctively. Satisfied, Xiang Yu sat at the table and picked up a book he hadn’t finished, immersing himself in its pages while waiting for the twins to return.
The room was quiet, save for the occasional rustle of paper as he turned the pages. Despite the stillness, he couldn’t shake the feeling that something was amiss. His eyes flicked to the unconscious man every now and then, but he remained motionless. His thoughts drifted to the token and the mysterious sect it represented, his curiosity growing with each passing moment. Just as he took another glance, he noticed the beads of sweat forming on the man’s forehead. After the pill he fed him that shouldn’t have been happening. His brows furrowed as he got up to take a closer look.
