Chapter 206: Liam Returns

Right after they landed on the ground, they were welcomed by the soldiers. The soldiers knew who she was because she came quite often before she became a concubine.

"Order the Scott and Hudson families to meet me in the meeting room." Elyse thought they still had two major families because no one had informed her about what had happened yesterday.

"Lady Elyse, they... they are already dead." The blue-haired soldier replied.

"Ren came again yesterday and killed them all," the red-haired soldier added. "We don’t have any major families left now."

Elyse stopped her footsteps in shock. "What?!"

"We are like a very fragile city now." Ren had killed their city lord and the four big families, so the foundation of the city had already shattered and was barely holding together.

A terrifying light flashed across Elyse’s eyes.

’This is unforgiveable!’

She almost could not control her emotions because her brother’s city was already on the verge of collapsing.

"Who is in control now?" Elyse inquired.

"We are still discussing it as we can’t choose a new city lord recklessly." choosing a new city lord was like choosing their future, so they were being extremely cautious not to make a hasty decision.

"Follow me to the communication room." Elyse moved to the next plan immediately because Icria City was on the verge of collapsing.

"Understood." The soldiers responded in unison.

Once they were in the communication room, she contacted the new city lord of Nafield City right away.

They had suffered the same fate, so she invited them to join her.

"My deepest apology, lady Elyse. We can’t join you," A green-haired man refused to join her politely.

His name was Dexter Bell, the new city lord of Nafield City.

"Why? Have you forgotten what he did to your city?" Elyse was startled by his response because she previously thought he would accept immediately.

After all, Ren had killed their previous lord and forcibly taken over their city.

"Of course, we still remember it, but we can’t do anything to him because he is a powerful Aeris." Dexter knew what Ren had done to Icria City.

They had suffered greatly when Ren killed their previous city lord, countless soldiers, and the entire Levine family.

If he ended up killing the remaining four big families, the city could collapse at any moment because they were the backbone of its economy and support, contributing the highest taxes and playing a vital role in maintaining order.

For the sake of their future, they were willing to place themselves under the jurisdiction of the Moon Organization.

Ren also promised that as long as they paid taxes and didn’t betray him, they could live peacefully, so refusing her offer was the best choice.

"You don’t need to be afraid of him. The Tuiziya Kingdom will support us." Elyse tried to change his mind.

"I still have to refuse," Dexter didn’t believe her words as the Tuiziya Kingdom hadn’t helped them until now.

And from his perspective, it was only a change of ruler.

Nothing was different from before.

In the past, they paid taxes to the kingdom. Now, they simply paid taxes to the Moon Organization instead. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓

Only that!

"Coward!" Elyse stated.

Dexter didn’t say anything when she labelled him a coward.

As long as he could keep the city standing and his people living in peace, he didn’t mind being labeled a coward because it was better than losing everything.

"If you have nothing more to say, then I will end the call, Lady Elyse." With that, Dexter ended the communication.

Elyse gritted her teeth in anger as she stared at the blank projector.

"What should we do, my lady?" Mia inquired.

"Let’s return to the kingdom." She had seen the situation in Icria City, so she decided to return.

’You won’t get away with this, Ren. I’ll make sure of it.’

----

Next morning.

Liam was approaching Nightshire City with a happy face.

He still had no idea what was going on because he had been in the forest for the past three months, so the news didn’t reach his ears.

’I’m a 3-star mage now, so I will show off my strength to Ren.’

Even though the journey nearly killed him, the reward was undeniable because it helped him break through to the Master rank much faster.

’Hmm? A barrier? What’s going on?’

The moment he saw the barrier enveloping the city, his expression changed and he dashed toward it without hesitation.

"Captain Noah! Captain Noah!" he could not enter the city, so he called out to the only person he knew.

Captain Noah turned around and approached him. "Oh, Liam! You have returned?"

Captain Noah knew Liam had gone on an adventure because he still remembered their chat at the entrance gate before Liam left.

"What’s going on? Why are our city protected by a barrier?" Liam didn’t ask Captain Noah to let him in immediately because he wanted to know what was going on.

Captain Noah ordered his subordinate to let Liam in. "It’s a long story."

Liam narrowed his eyes. "Long story?"

"In short, we are facing the Tuiziya Kingdom now." Captain Noah gave a short explanation.

"Damn! The Tuiziya Kingdom is bullying us!" Liam said angrily, "But don’t worry, Captain Noah. I’ve broken through to 3-star. I will defend our city and kill them all later, including the damn king!"

"Haha." Captain Noah laughed after hearing his words. "Speaking of breakthroughs, I had one just yesterday. I’m a Master rank warrior now."

With the help of the Starlight Pagoda, he broke through to the Master rank much faster. And he wasn’t the only one because many soldiers had advanced to the next rank as well.

Now, Nightshire City had twenty Master rank warriors and ten 3-star mages.

However, there were no Grandmaster-rank warriors or 4-star mages aside from Ren because reaching that level was difficult.

The only one even close to the Grandmaster rank was Scarlett.

Even the city’s strongest mage remained at 3-star because the gap between 3-star and 4-star was simply too vast.

"Oh! You are as amazing as me, Captain Noah!" Liam grinned, making sure to slip in some praise for himself too.

"Haha!" Captain Noah laughed. "Liam, you should go meet Ren. He founded an organization last month, and it’s growing at an incredible pace. It already has control over three cities, twenty-two towns, and two hundred and twenty villages."

"What?! An organization?!" Liam said in surprise.

"Go to the Avenue region and you will see their base." Captain Noah uttered.

"Then, I will go to his organization now." After saying that, Liam turned around and left.

"Liam, the name of his organization is Moon Organization." Captain Noah shouted.

Liam gave him a thumbs-up before rushing off toward the Moon Organization.

Several minutes later, he reached his destination.

’Whoa! The base is so grand!’

He was amazed by the Moon Organization headquarters because he didn’t expect it to be so grand.

’Hmm?’

The huge statue in the courtyard suddenly caught his attention.

’Damn! He also made a statue of him!’

As he was mesmerized by the buildings and the statue, some of Ren’s subordinates approached him.

"Our base is amazing, right!" Raul stated.

"Brother, you keep standing in front of our organization. Do you want to join us?" Kairos inquired.
