Chapter 490: Daughter (3)

"It is not like I planned for this to all be happening at once. The engagement came as a surprise to me and then I had the feeling that I might be pregnant. I thought all we would be celebrating was adopting Lydia and getting married in the future, but now we will have another child," said Annalise.

Logan was impressed by Rafael. "He wasn’t joking around back then."

"What do you mean?" Annalise asked, not knowing who wasn’t joking.

"Rafael used to say that the next woman we see him with he would marry and start a family with. Not only did he propose but his family is growing fast. We were fools to think he lost interest in women. He has everything faster than the rest of us," Logan answered, not believing it.

Had he joined in the bets made Logan would have lost a lot of money. He already lost a bit to Christian for thinking Rafael and Annalise would not get together.

"It was inevitable that we were to have a child soon since we’ve been sleeping with each other and never made any attempts to prevent it. Enough about me, why is it that out of all the knights, you are here to guard Siena? What am I missing?" Annalise questioned, suspicious of the two.

By now something should have blossomed between the two since they were always together.

"Logan has been a great help to me during the trips that we took. He has been good to me during the time that I was speaking to my parents. I was quick to run away from the manor and come here since they were already speaking of someone else for me to marry. I hope your offer for me to work for you is still there," Siena said as she was without money now.

Siena had to send it to the court to ask for her inheritance. It pained her that she had to show her parents that she needed the money, but she had to. It wouldn’t last forever so she had to find something to do to earn so she would never worry about money.

Right now she didn’t have any money to her name and was relying on Annalise until the court would send what belonged to her. She had to stop relying on Annalise as soon as possible.

"The offer is still there. You have nothing to worry about because I will take care of you and something tells me that someone else is already planning how to help you," Annalise said, looking at Logan.

She wouldn’t be surprised if Logan started leaving money around for Siena to take.

"Is there no hope at all for your parents to stop trying to get you to marry a man of their liking and move on?" Annalise questioned, wishing this was not going to end like this. Why did Siena need to have the same ending as Beatrice? Why couldn’t she have a happy ending?

Why was it so hard for these families to think of their daughters? Listening to what Beatrice and Siena had to bear with made Annalise want to try even harder to be a good mother so Lydia never felt like running away.

"I truly do not know. I need some more space from them to show that I am serious about taking control of my life. They fail to realise what I went through having to live with Travis. I will try reaching out to them again later, but right now, I can’t," Siena answered.

It was disappointing, but she had known this was how it would be right now. They were looking to gain a lot of money or connections through her marriage and didn’t care about what she wanted.

"Then, it is their loss and our gain. You will be fine with us. Excuse us, Logan. I am taking Siena to speak alone," Annalise said, taking hold of Siena’s hand to lead her to the study on this floor.

"What am I to do?" Logan wondered out loud, looking around the quiet home. Where was Rafael when you needed him?

Siena looked back at Logan standing alone as Annalise led her somewhere. "Is there another secret I need to know of?"

"No, there is something that you need to speak of. Did nothing more happen between you two?"

Siena bit her tongue. Why did Annalise have to be so good at noticing things around her? "It is just between us."

’Of course," Annalise said, stopping out front of the study door. "I wouldn’t share anything about you."

"My parents came to the manor. I thought it was best that we meet there because the knights would help me get away if my parents tried to take me. After they brought up another man, I stormed off because I wasn’t being heard and Logan came to me. He had been standing near the door listening to the conversation-"

"Did he want to fight them?" Annalise asked, impatient to know the ending.

"I’m sure he wanted to. Anyone would with how they dismissed what I felt during my stay with Travis and the arranged marriage. He kept himself calm but I saw the way his hand holding the sword trembled. He was the one to calm me down. At the moment, I was happy to have someone thinking of me so I kissed him," Siena confessed.

This was her second kiss with Logan so far.

"Then, how is it that nothing has changed with your relationship?" Annalise asked, not understanding the two.

"Well, my father walked out at the same time to see what I did and started to insult Logan. Saying that I fell for a lowly knight instead of going after Rafael. I was a bit embarrassed that my father insulted Logan so after making my parents leave, I walked away from Logan. I couldn’t meet his eyes then so we didn’t get to talk about this kiss," Siena explained.

Annalise still didn’t understand because they were close now. "The two of you look so friendly now so you must have talked about something to move on."

"When I told Mavis that I was ready to leave Logan came to me to inform me that he would be escorting me here. He made a few jokes, I laughed, and now we are back to normal without addressing the kiss. I need to bring it up because I do like him. I’m just a bit nervous even though I know he already likes me," Siena said, feeling like a fool for not saying what was on her mind.

"This is normal. Having feelings for someone and wanting to confess will make you feel incredibly nervous," Annalise responded to calm Siena’s nerves. "Just get it out and let him know that you are ready to let something happen between you. He’s been following you around so much and it is starting to hurt me as I am the one waiting."

"I know. I don’t mean to make him wait long. I was planning to let him know before I return to the border with you that I do like him and I am ready. I was thinking of the best time to do it here. An excuse to go somewhere alone," Siena said, still thinking of the right way to do it.

"Maybe Rafael will forget something and I can send you two? It’s a bit cruel that he’ll know he has your heart just before we need to go to the border. I like it," Annalise said, awaiting the misery Logan would find himself feeling. "That means you will also share my pain of being away from the man you love. We’ll have something new to bond over."
