Chapter 474: Growing family (1)
"Congratulations. You are expecting a child," the doctor confirmed. He let the news sink in for the young couple as he looked into his bag for medicine that would help her during this time.
Annalise stared at the doctor. She knew that this announcement was coming and what the answer would be to the question they asked, but it still felt like cold water had been thrown at her. It was now confirmed that they were going to be having a child. That inside of her there was life growing.
Seeing that Annalise had turned mute, Rafael decided to be the one to ask the questions they needed to ask. "How far along is she?" He asked, placing his hand on Annalise’s shoulder. He wanted to pick her up but she was seated on the chair so he had to settle for this.
"It’s hard to give a prediction with how far along when she is not showing yet, but I would say around a month based on what she said about the last time she bled. If you are around town for the next few weeks, I can keep watch and tell you a better prediction. I can tell better when her belly starts to grow bigger," the doctor, Jude Weiss answered.
"We won’t be in town for long. Is there anything she needs to be prepared for at this time?" Rafael asked.
"Oh yes. There will be some vomiting in the morning. You need to keep the foods that make her sick away from her to limit the vomiting. I suggest having buckets nearby and though it will be hard, you need to eat even when you feel like you would vomit. You are now taking care of someone else."
"There are some medicines I recommend she takes at this time to help keep her and the baby healthy. You’ll need to be more careful during this time. The slightest fall could lead to losing the baby," Jude explained.
"During this time, you should try not to stress her. I will write a list of everything that will happen during this time and what you will need to look out for. I will also write what medicine she needs to take at this time. Follow the list carefully and you will be fine," Jude said, pulling out a paper to get started with writing.
"Thank you," Rafael thanked the doctor. He repeated everything said inside his head so he wouldn’t forget it even though there would be a list.
Annalise was still sitting quietly, but now her hand was on her belly. Rafael wanted to celebrate with her, but he was giving her some time to let this all settle in as he did.
Annalise had a million and one thoughts going through her head. She watched the doctor place two small bottles on the table in front of them and write away on paper. She wanted to get up to hug Rafael, but at the same time feared that she might hurt herself by doing so.
It was funny that she requested for Rafael to not treat her as if she were made of glass, but this was how she was treating herself now. Annalise would be careful as the doctor said as she was not going to lose her child.
"This is all you will need to know. If there is anything you need more help understanding, please call for me. I can find an experienced woman to help answer your questions. If there is ever any pain, please call me right away. If there is nothing more, I will take my leave now to let the two of you celebrate," Jude said as he had done his part.
"That will be all," Rafael said, handing over the doctor’s payment. "I will see you out."
"Thank you for confirming this news," Annalise said, breaking away from her thoughts to bid the doctor goodbye. She stood up with Rafael to walk the doctor out.
Jude smiled at the two being kind to see him out instead of going to each other to celebrate. He could see in their faces that they were both excited and the moment he left, there might be some tears of joy. He wished the best for the two and hoped they would birth a healthy child that would grow tall.
Annalise stood back, allowing Rafael to be the one to open the door for Jude and see him off outside. It was hard for her to stay in one spot when all she wanted to do was go toward Rafael and hug him.
She wanted to share the news with their parents. She wanted to let everyone close to them know that their family was growing fast. Annalise especially wanted to start figuring out which time they were intimate led to her becoming pregnant. It would be hard, but she would solve the mystery.
Annalise took one step forward as Rafael was coming back to the front door. The doctor was already off in a carriage Rafael had prepared to take him back to his home. "We are going to be having a child," she said, smiling ear to ear.
Rafael walked up to Annalise, leaving the door wide open as it didn’t matter now, and lifted her up into the air. "Yes we are," he replied.
Annalise wrapped her legs around his waist to help hold her up. "Uh oh. What is that look in your eyes? Please don’t tell me you are becoming overprotective already," she said, a little scared of the new lengths he would go to protect her now.
"Too late for that, but I was thinking of how much I love you," Rafael said, revealing his thoughts. She was bringing so much to his life.
"Oh, that I don’t mind hearing. First, we should shut the door Rafael," Annalise said as anyone passing by could see them as they were now. She didn’t want anyone to come disturb them now when all she wanted to do was enjoy this moment with Rafael. "I love you too. It is not uncomfortable," she added as she noticed him looking down at where she pressed against him.
Rafael kept his hold of Annalise and walked with her to the door for her to close it since his hands were full. "I love you," Rafael repeated as Annalise wanted. She’ll have to suffer hearing it for the rest of the day and until the time they would part.
"And I love you. I love you. I love you," Annalise chanted as she couldn’t contain her excitement. "How do you think our parents take it that we’re bringing them two grandchildren at once?"
"They won’t know what to do with themselves," Rafael answered as they would be back and forth between Lydia and caring for the baby. Rafael imagined Beatrice freaking out over becoming a grandmother and having two grandchildren in her life so soon. freewёbnoνel.com
Everyone was expecting their return with only Lydia.
"I think we are both about to lose our parent’s attention. I can hardly wait for this baby to come, but first, we must succeed in adopting Lydia. I want us to all be together as soon as possible," Annalise said, still thinking of Lydia.
The child she shared with Rafael didn’t change how much she loved Lydia. She wanted the adoption to go smoothly so they could soon become her parents and Lydia could witness the growth of her sibling.
"We must go get our other child," Annalise said, more impatient now than ever to bring Lydia into their family.
