Chapter 427: Uninvited guest (1)

"You can go right up to wash and get some rest. I will be up shortly," Rafael said, stepping to the side to let Annalise enter the door he opened for her.

It was a long ride back from the court to the mansion and Annalise slept through most of it. There was still a good time for Annalise to sleep and get up later to go to the market since she didn’t get a chance to shop. It would be better for them to shop at night so no one would recognise and surround him again.

"I want to soak in water for a long time and then go to bed, but you must promise to wake me so we can go late-night shopping. I won’t speak to you for the next few days if you do not wake me," Annalise said as they failed to wake her the day before.

"Yes yes," Rafael replied. If she seemed tired, he was not going to wake her. Many stalls would be open late and they could do early morning shopping before they departed for the border.

"Welcome home," Siena greeted the two, happy to have them back. "Were you successful in putting together the truce?"

"Most of it. It will be finished when the queen and king visit the border. Why do you look so nervous? Did something happen while we were away?" Annalise said, taking a step to the left to look ahead at Heidi who was looking into the waiting room.

"I need to help the knights," Rafael said, taking his leave for the women to talk.

Siena watched as Rafael stepped back outside. It was probably best that Annalise heard what she had to say first and then Annalise passed on the message to him. "You had a guest when you and Rafael were not here. An unexpected one that surprised me. Giselle is here with bags."

"Giselle? Is it another Giselle that I am forgetting about or my friend Giselle? How would it be possible for Giselle to be here and know about our home?" Annalise said, walking toward where Heidi stood.

Giselle had not informed her that she was coming to Lockwood and hearing that she had bags meant Giselle planned to stay here. It was bad timing since they were not going to be here long.

"It is not uncommon for the town to know where you stay, especially when you are travelling with a man like Rafael. The mansion has knights coming in and out of it so someone must have pointed her here. You did not mention anything about her coming so I did not know what to do with her bags. I am only a guest," Siena said, feeling like she didn’t have a right to be showing anyone to a room.

Rafael and Annalise were already generous in taking care of her travelling, sheltering, feeding, and surprisingly paying for the things she bought when they went to the market.

"I have money to repay you for the things I bought yesterday. I will bring it to you after you have rested," said Siena.

"What money?" Annalise asked as she didn’t know about any money Siena owed her. "I forgot to pass you and Heidi money from my allowance for whatever you needed. I meant to apologise for leaving with Rafael so suddenly. Something important suddenly came up."

Annalise left Siena confused because she was told the money given to her had come from Annalise. She made sure not to spend a lot of it so she could return it. "But Logan said you gave him the money to pass to us."

"He should have just told you that it was him giving you money to spend. It is nice he also gave Heidi money. You shouldn’t try to give it back to him. You will break his spirit and that is the last thing we all need to witness. It would be nice if you were to find a gift for him or perhaps spend more time with him so I can see him be a fool in love from afar," Annalise said as seeing it up close would remind her of the past when Logan thought he liked her.

"I am not thinking of being in love with anyone right now. I hope he will understand," Siena said, feeling sorry she could not return his feelings.

She just escaped preparing to become Rafael’s wife and before she courted anyone, she wanted some time to herself. Some time to figure out what she wanted for herself and explore the kingdom. Siena had spent many years focusing on a man and now she wanted to focus on herself.

If Logan was still without someone in his life when that time she would enjoy herself passed, then Siena would have no issue seriously courting him. Siena thoroughly enjoyed her time with Logan.

During the ride here when they had to step out of the carriage to walk around, he would not be far off watching over her. After Annalise left the market with Rafael, Logan had stayed close to chase away unwanted attention from men and now that she looked back to that time, he didn’t wander off to get whatever he wanted.

"Maybe the better way would be to tell him that I do have some feelings for him, but I need time to myself. I don’t want to let a good man slip from my fingers, but I don’t want to have him waiting on me. What do you think I should do, Annalise?" Siena asked.

"It amazes me that anyone thinks I am good at giving relationship advice. I think you should tell him what you just told me. I don’t think Logan was expecting you would suddenly fall for him and get married when you are just coming off being forced to marry someone and you are worrying about your parents. Just tell him the truth," Annalise replied, hoping it was good advice.

It sounded good in Annalise’s ears.

"That would be best. I can only be positive that nothing will change. He has been good at keeping me distracted from thinking of my parents. I will speak with him when he comes inside," Siena decided.

She saw all the attention the knights received when they were out so if she didn’t move quickly to let Logan know she was interested in one day courting each other, she was going to lose him. It was only so long he could like her before moving on when there were so many options.

"If it doesn’t work out, I can always introduce you to a man from my home or maybe you will find love when we travel together. I can already see Rafael and Logan stalking us to make sure we don’t find other men-"

"Surprise!" Giselle yelled, jumping out from her hiding spot to scare Annalise. "I have arrived in Lockwood. Did you miss me?"

Siena jumped and touched her chest to calm herself. She knew that Giselle was hiding and knew where, but she was still surprised.

Annalise was unphased by Giselle’s surprise. "You move too much for someone trying to hide and Hiedi gave away that someone is here, but looking your way. I don’t mean to be rude, but what are you doing here, Giselle?"
