Chapter 428: Uninvited guest (2)

"Well, before you left I was thinking about whether or not I should join you. Then you left so I thought it was too late to come to Lockwood, but it started to become boring without you, Siena, and Hiedi around. I didn’t want to bother Lady Beatrice or the knights I met so I pleaded with my uncle, he said yes, and dropped me off here. Surprise," Giselle said, holding up her hands.

Her uncle was still in Lockwood waiting to hear if she would get to stay so she needed an answer from Annalise fast.

"Your uncle must really love you to make the long ride here just so you could be with friends. You should have made up your mind before we left so you wouldn’t have someone else spend so much time to bring you here and then he has to go back alone I assume. See," Annalise sighed as Giselle nodded her head.

"You are aware that I will be going to the border to see my parents, right? We will not be going back to the manor just yet and even then, it will take some days before we reach the manor. Did you inform your uncle of us going to the border? Again I must assume that you are planning to go there with us," said Annalise.

She couldn’t just jump for joy and be excited Giselle was here when there was much to consider. There was too much going on to add to Giselle’s uncle chasing them down to get her back because he wasn’t aware of her joining them at the border. Giselle was fine from where Annalise came from, but what about her uncle?

"Oh, I told him about that and he promised not to tell anyone about it. I got my brother to help me convince him and we heard the strangest story from him. My brother assured him that the knights would keep me safe and if I stayed away too long, my brother would ride out to join Rafael. I hope he won’t get in trouble," Giselle said because he was doing this just for her.

"Why haven’t you pointed out which knight is your brother yet? I never see when you two are talking in the manor. Do you even have a brother or was that a trick to get closer to Rafael in the past, but now you have to keep up with it?" Annalise questioned, suspicious of this mystery brother now.

"I was never so crazy for Rafael to make up a brother. Besides, he would have known that I was lying. My brother is always off to the side so it is hard for me to find him sometimes. I normally pass on what I brought him or want to say to him to another knight. When we return, I will introduce you to George," Giselle promised.

Annalise couldn’t remember speaking with a knight named George, but there were so many for her to keep track of.

"Since your uncle is fine with it and I hope you are not lying, you can stay. You might need to share a room with Siena or Heidi because the mansion isn’t as big as the manor and all the rooms are filled by the knights here with us. I will let Rafael know that we have one more person joining us. He won’t be thrilled right away, but I will convince him," said Annalise.

"Great! I need to send a note to my uncle letting him know he can leave. Excuse me," Giselle said, going around Annalise, but then stopped. "How would I send him a letter from here?"

"I will help you and you can stay in my room. The bed is big like this," Heidi said, opening her arms wide to try to show how big her bed was.

"It is good to have another woman here. When we ride in the carriage, it will start to feel like a girl’s trip. I should come up with games to make it exciting. Then we won’t notice how long it takes to reach your home," said Siena, starting to plan the trip in her head.

"That would be fun. I only need to check that Rafael isn’t bothered by Giselle coming along. It is one more person we need to keep safe on the way there and back. If anything scares the two of you, it’ll be a bit of trouble to send you back. I am going to wash and get a rest before Rafael and I go to the market so I can take back gifts. Oh, Logan is here," Annalise said, watching as he entered the front door. "This is your moment."

"I didn’t expect it to come so soon, but it is now or never. I will see you later when you come down to leave. I will let Heidi know not to disturb you. Excuse me," Siena said and then walked in the direction of where Logan stood.

It seemed like he was waiting for her because he had come inside but not moved when he saw her.

"Hello! Did you have a good time outside? Wait, you were outside waiting for something to go wrong at the court and it was a bit cold out so it might have been boring. Forget that I asked that," Siena said, suddenly feeling nervous.

Logan scratched the back of his head. "It wasn’t cold because I was wearing something to keep me warm. I took it off outside to dust off the snow it had on it. It wasn’t boring because there were other knights there, so we joked and annoyed each other. Later, Rafael and Annalise are going out themselves, so we wouldn’t bring attention to them."

"Me and some of the knights are going somewhere tonight so if you want to join us, you can. There will be women with us so you would be comfortable. Women from the knights. Not women from the town though there might be some-"

"The more you speak, the more you make it worse for yourself. It is fine for there to be women joining you. You are a man without any responsibilities. I have noticed your feelings for me. I thought it might have been you being friendly, but everyone confirmed it. I am open to courting you, but as of right now, I need some time to myself," Siena said, fidgeting with her fingers.

"It is not that there is anything you are lacking right now. It is just that I spent so much time preparing to be the best wife for a man and I didn’t get to enjoy myself, so now I want to do that before thinking of marrying someone. I want to know if you would wait a little. You don’t need to. There are so many women around," said Siena.

"Now I see what you mean about making it worse for myself the more I talk. I can wait for you. Honestly, I didn’t think there would be a possibility of you liking me so soon. I can wait knowing that once you get to enjoy yourself, you will look for me. So..." Logan trailed off, not knowing what to say next.

"That doesn’t mean I do not wish to spend time with you. I would love to join you and the knights later," Siena answered, looking forward to another day with the knights.
