The Knight's Mysterious Maid-Chapter 389: Threat (4)
Chapter 389: Threat (4)
Annalise leaned on the wall beside her former bedroom now turned to her closet, waiting to enter for Siena who wouldn’t know where to go. She didn’t spare a glance where Siena was talking to Kayla because it was a private matter. She was only curious if Aria would be sharing a room with Kayla soon.
She patted her back for not picking Kayla up and throwing her out. She couldn’t allow people to get her so angry. When she would visit the palace, there would be all kinds of people saying things to get under her skin. She had to work on not giving them a reaction from now on though she really wanted to push Kayla down the stairs.
"Thank you for waiting on me and for not punishing her for what she said. I want to apologise on her behalf. She is my maid and I am responsible for her actions so an apology is due from me. I am sorry," Siena apologised to Annalise.
"I accept. Where did she go? Did she choose to go alone to find somewhere to rest?" Annalise asked as Kayla was gone.
"She says she will go look for the butler to find out where the maids sleep. We have been around each other since I was a young girl. We are more like friends so she speaks her mind because I have allowed her. She is a good person, but sometimes she goes too far in trying to protect me. I don’t think the knights are useless," said Siena.
"I know. You were going to marry Rafael and seeing how you are with Logan, I don’t think you look down on them. Besides, it didn’t come out of your mouth so I didn’t group you into what she said. I dislike the words wild, savage, and barbarian. I saved Beatrice from being kidnapped and somehow I was pointed out as the bad guy," Annalise said, listing her reasons for disliking Kayla.
"I am only in a union with Rafael, but I will defend all the knights just as I would defend him. I’ve added someone speaking down on them to the list of things I dislike. If your friend is going to be in the manor, I advise you to not let her repeat these things. I won’t dislike you for what she does or says."
"That will no longer be a problem because I am sending her back to my parents. I have some tough decisions to make in the future and it is best I do not string Kayla along with me when I might not be able to afford her. My father might cut me off when I tell him that I want to travel and pick my own husband. All I will have left is my inheritance," said Siena.
Annalise liked hearing that Siena was going to do what she wanted. She opened the door of her bedroom and then grabbed Siena’s left hand to pull her in so they could discuss in private.
"This is my room for dresses and it is also home for my pet spider so be careful where you walk. Our friendship might end if you step on him. I am hoping to get a pet snake in the future. Herbert is shy so he will just run around if you get close to where he is hiding," Annalise said as she closed the door behind Siena.
"It is good to know that I am in a room with a spider," Siena said, looking around for the creature to avoid it. She did not see the need for a pet spider when dogs, cats or birds were all better.
Though she was afraid of the spider, Siena walked further into the room to continue to speak with Annalise.
"I may have the answer to your problem, but I can’t tell you why I am certain you will be fine if your father cuts you off. I can only say that Rafael and I will be moving in the future along with the knights. There I can use someone to help me with the important role I have to play and I will pay you for your time. You will also get to travel a lot," Annalise said, throwing in that last to help convince Siena.
Since Siena desired travelling and being free, going to the border was the best place to get what she wanted. Just as her father had people around him to listen to his ideas or offer advice, Annalise would need a group of people around her.
Annalise saw Siena as someone smart since she was able to play Travis and act like she was going through in marrying Rafael when Annalise believed Siena stopped thinking about Rafael when they attended the ball.
If this was not something Siena wanted, she could find what was meant for her when the new town was created.
"Thank you, but I-"
"You don’t have to do this alone, Siena. Going against what your father wants can be hard and it is easier if you have people beside you to help you. My father didn’t approve of Rafael, but I had my mother and grandmother to help me. Let me help you. I also want to explore more of the kingdom. We can get rid of the men in our lives and go alone. Just the two of us on a girl’s trip," Annalise decided.
Siena liked the sound of this, but there was one thing Annalise was wrong about. "I don’t have a man in my life so we are free to travel when you are," she said.
"Right," Annalise said, now remembering that Siena wasn’t aware yet. "Well, it’s best we go now that you are not courting anyone. Rafael and I have to travel to Lockwood at some point. You should join us then to start off seeing more of the kingdom."
"If Rafael doesn’t mind, I would love to join you. I will do anything you need to repay you for letting me stay here and taking me with you. If you need, I can help with sorting your dresses. I am good at that," Siena said, wanting to use this to pay for her stay.
She didn’t know how to clean as it was something she never had to do and if she were to try cooking, the kitchen would be no more. Siena did think her skills to go through dresses and place them in a good order might be worth something.
If her father were to cut her off, the money wouldn’t last all her life if she didn’t find work. She wanted to use working for Annalise to get used to this new life.
"You can if you want to, but you do not need to pay us. There’s plenty of room for a guest and plenty of space in the carriage for when we would go to Lockwood. Besides, I am not that cruel to make you give us money or work when you have your father to think about. What kind of person do you think I am? We need fire," Annalise said, no longer able to bear the cold.
"There are times when you are cruel?" Siena asked. She didn’t take Annalise for a cruel person.
Annalise could only smile as there was a lot Siena had to learn about her.
