The Knight's Mysterious Maid-Chapter 390: Torture (1)
Chapter 390: Torture (1)
"My father will come after you, Beatrice, and Rafael for this. You’ll be on the run again. You think they’ll let you get away with harming their heir?" Travis asked, watching River who backed him. "I’ve been keeping in touch with them to let them know I am untouched and the moment that letter does not reach them, they’ll be coming here."
There was a pounding pain in his head from River punching him and then the knights weren’t too kind with how they tossed him into the shabby room he was in now.
Travis looked around for any kind of escape, but there was only one door and he had no idea where he was to run out for help. River had not left him alone for a second since they came here. River was placing something on a table and Travis knew it had to be something to torture him.
He would still have the upper hand if Solomon had not betrayed him. He hoped the bastard was long dead and no one would properly bury his body.
"This is all your fault. If you had not seduced my sister, looking to get in the bed of a woman far above your status, none of this would have happened. Everything said about her is because of you. How you soiled her before she got married. Had no home of your own to take her to," said Travis, chanting insults River should be no stranger to.
He wanted River to say something so he would know his fate. The silence was killing him right now.
What could be so important that River was not speaking to him?
"You can still live if you let me go now. I’ll give you a head start to run before my family starts to hunt you down-"
River’s laughter caused Travis to stop. What was so funny about what he said? Was he laughing at the power of the Normans? A knight was laughing at him?
"I didn’t think you would be asking me to let you go. I thought you would have kept your arrogance and died not trying to reason with me. Of course, when you want to live you’ll do things out of the ordinary. I am not letting you go, Travis. I don’t care who comes looking for you," River said, finishing up laying out the things he bought just for Travis.
Hopefully, with this Travis would shut up now.
Travis had been talking since he woke up and it wasn’t doing him any good because it made River want to hit him again.
If the Normans came looking to attack to get Travis, he would take care of them too. River also hated them for not paying attention to their daughter and letting Travis get their way.
"You will die when my parents come looking. I was being generous in letting you start running now. My sister isn’t going to be able to handle seeing our parents again. I hope it sets her off and she finally loses her mind. We should have sent her off to the madhouse when she was younger to get her fixed. Oh, now you turn around," Travis said, smiling as he finally got River’s attention.
River gripped the edge of the table behind him. He had been sorting out what he would use on Travis, but now his hands seemed more effective.
"How is my sister these days? Does she still panic when you say my name?" Travis asked, smiling because of River’s anger. He was not afraid of the knight even in this position. Only concerned about what he had to endure before his parents would find him.
River walked over to where Travis sat and punched him once more, swinging his face to the side for talking about Beatrice. River grabbed a handful of Travis’s slightly bloody shirt and said, "Do not speak of my wife."
Before Travis would be killed, it would be him who would be insane and needed to be sent to a madhouse. River would make sure that each day this little room felt like Travis was at a madhouse. It was Travis’s turn to feel like he was losing his mind.
River backed away from Travis to get a small bottle. He had no idea what was in it but was told that it would leave Travis in great pain.
River opened the bottle, releasing a pungent smell in the room. He returned to Travis, but this time he went behind him.
With his right hand, he roughly pulled Travis’s head back, forcing him to look up.
Thinking that River was going to make him drink whatever was inside the bottle, Travis closed his mouth. However, River wasn’t planning on having Travis drink it.
Thankfully, Travis had his eyes open, watching River as if enjoying the fact he ruined River’s plan.
River used this chance to pour the liquid in Travis’s eyes and earned his screams filling up the room. River poured every last drop even if it didn’t get in Travis’s eyes.
Travis squeezed his eyes shut but it didn’t stop the pain that came from some of what River poured getting into his eyes. He thrashed and turned, suffering from the pain. The rope tied around him stopped him from using his hands to wipe his burning eyes.
With River no longer holding his head, Travis moved side to side as he thrashed his body around, trying to fight the pain. This caused the chair to rock and lift onto two legs when Travis moved right, to then send him falling down to the cold floor.
Travis screamed once more because of the pain in his eyes and the coldness of the floor. He knew that the floor was filthy, but he couldn’t open his eyes to see just how dirty it was. His arms were restrained so he couldn’t push himself up to get off the floor.
River watched from above how Travis struggled as he wiped his hands with a cloth to get the liquid off of them. It was truly a pathetic sight with Travis not being able to help himself.
"Water. Give me water!" Travis yelled. "You fucking bastard!"
He needed to wash his eyes to get rid of what River poured to hopefully stop the pain and not lose his sight. He couldn’t open his eyes for even a second as that hurt.
"Please," Travis finally pleaded as he was desperate.
River didn’t feel for Travis. This was nothing compared to whatever Travis had planned for Beatrice.
"Toughen up, Travis. This is only the beginning. It’s going to get harder from here," said River, walking around Travis.
River planned on buying more to pour on Travis’s eyes to eventually turn him blind. He was close to getting something for Travis’s mouth so he would never have to hear Beatrice’s name come out of it again.
"Are you crying?" River asked after hearing the softest whimper. He had to have heard wrong because the cocky Travis who did so much to his wife could not be crying already. "Don’t cry yet, Travis. You’ve hurt so many people who held their tears and suffered what you did to them only crying when they are alone."
River wanted to tell Beatrice how much stronger she was than her coward of a brother.
Not getting a response from Travis, River sighed. He had to wait for Travis to calm down before torturing him again. The moment Travis no longer felt pain, River would return to make his body feel like it was on fire. He had plenty of tools, liquids, and animals to torture Travis with.
He could leave to clean up and then check on Beatrice before returning to Travis. River walked toward the door to leave Travis alone.
Hearing River get further away from him, Travis yelled, "Bring me water! Don’t leave me here!"
River ignored Travis and continued to the door.
"You’re still here," River said, surprised to see Rafael when he exited the room. "I thought you would have been on your way home with Annalise and the knights."
"I am only here for a moment to make sure he is secured and won’t get away. Are you leaving now?" Rafael asked, ignoring the faint screams coming from on the other side of the door.
"Yes, but first I need to find somewhere to clean up before I worry your mother. We should go to the guards and then go our separate ways before our women kill us for returning late," River said, going to pat Rafael’s back but then remembered his hands were not clean. "If you see me putting my hands anywhere near my eyes before washing them, please stop me."
