The Knight's Mysterious Maid-Chapter 387: Threat (2)
Chapter 387: Threat (2)
"Lady Annalise," Edwin said, greeting her at the manor front door.
"You are up so late, Edwin. Do you always stay up when Rafael goes out?" Annalise asked as she walked up the steps.
"If I can stay awake, I will be around so Sir Rafael does not have to search for me. You have guests," Edwin said looking at the two women behind Annalise.
"They will be staying with us for a few days or maybe weeks. I don’t know exactly how long. They will both need a room and maybe something to eat. You don’t need to wake Mavis and the maids. I will help you prepare the rooms or get the food. I just need a moment to take off my armour," Annalise said, already taking off her helmet.
She desperately needed a fire to warm up.
"That won’t be necessary. I will prepare their rooms and get the cook to warm up any leftover dinner. Please excuse me for a moment," said Edwin.
Mavis had already instructed the maids to clean up the rooms from the day Annalise had Giselle in the manor. All Edwin had to do was look over to see if the rooms were prepared to his liking.
It was unbelievable that they were already having guests stay over. Other than Rafael’s parents and the duke this was new.
"Logan just told me that you are now the lady of the manor. Did you and Rafael get married? I hope I have not missed the wedding though I understand why I wouldn’t have received an invitation. We are still getting to know each other," Siena said, attempting to search for Annalise’s ring, but her excitement disappeared when she realised the armour was covering Annalise’s hands.
"There isn’t a wedding yet or should I say that we are not engaged so you don’t misunderstand? That is what Rafaell told everyone to address me as. With how things are done here, I can see the confusion about why everyone thinks we got married in secret. Some think that I am pregnant. I am not," Annalise said, putting it out there before Siena started to think about it.
She did not want to hear about babies from anyone but Rafael.
"I see. Then, I hope as we become closer I will be there for your wedding. I want it to make my father angry to know I am attending the wedding he wanted me to have. I can already see his ears turning red," Siena chuckled.
"If you want, I can send your parents an invitation too. Whatever you want to do to get back at them for sending you to live with Travis, just ask and I will help you. You should come inside because it is terribly cold. You can come with me now to pick out a dress to sleep in and one to wear tomorrow at breakfast. They are new," Annalise added in case Siena was the type to not like wearing someone’s worn clothes.
"Thank you," Siena replied, stepping inside to get out of the cold. "You’re going out of your way to help me. I will tell you and Rafael everything you need to know about what Travis said. It’s the least I could do for your kindness."
"We’ll talk about that in the morning. Follow me," Annalise said, leading Siena and unfortunately, Kayla up the stairs so they could pick out a dress.
"Before I go," Siena said, turning back to Logan who was holding the reins of his horse. "Thank you for riding me here, Logan. That doesn’t sound right. Thank you for riding with me so I wouldn’t fall. I will also find a way to repay you."
"Repay me for what? I told you that I like saving people. All you need to do is smile and I will feel rewarded," said Logan.
Ezra shook his head at what he was hearing and led his horse away so he could go to bed.
Kayla disliked that there was something blooming between Siena and the knight. Even if it was just a friendship. Siena had a lot to worry about because now that Travis wasn’t around, her father would come looking for her. With her father would come the Normans.
Everything might have fallen in place if not for Annalise and Siena wanting to make friends.
Kayla liked how much a refined lady Siena was and didn’t want her to start becoming like Annalise. A wild woman who could take someone’s life and not feel remorseful. She failed to understand why Rafael would give Annalise such an important title. A title that was meant for Siena.
Kayla hated to see Siena lose. She feared what would come from Siena not getting married to Rafael. Why was Siena smiling when there was so much to worry about?
"My lady, we should go inside," Kayla said, walking up to Siena to end her conversation with the knight. It might make her appear mean, but she was looking out for Siena to make sure she wouldn’t be hurt.
A lady like Siena shouldn’t be with a knight no one knew. She deserved the best and Kayla was going to do everything she could to make sure Siena got the happy ending she was owed.
"What?" Kayla asked as she caught Annalise staring at her.
Annalise could only smile and not say what she thought yet because it would only be denied. She truly believed there were some romantic feelings Kayla had for Siena and that was why she was so overprotective. She could just be loyal, but Annalise felt there was more.
Siena and Kayla’s relationship didn’t concern her so she had nothing to ask about it.
"I’m going up," Annalise said, proceeding to take off her armour as she walked.
Siena smiled as Logan requested and then followed Annalise up the stairs with Kayla beside her.
"Your father won’t allow you to marry a knight if it is not Rafael. There will be someone else picked for you to marry so you must not fall for the knight," Kayla advised Siena.
"I am not looking to marry him, Kayla. He has helped me and only asked for a smile in return. In regards to my father, I am done following what he wants. I want to pick the man I will marry. I don’t want to be sent off to another Travis. Look at how happy the two of them were when he carried her. I want to fall in love. Not be forced," Siena said, determined to make her own choice whether or not her father would like it.
"And what will you do if your father will cut you off? You have no money of your own to be without your family. You need to get married or do you plan to stay here and create friendships with knights who will be of no use to you?" Kayla asked as Siena was not thinking properly right now.
Siena wished Kayla would stop about the knights with Annalise right infront of them. The knights Kayla were calling useless were protecting them with Rafael giving them a place to rest their heads.
She was certain Annalise heard Kayla.
"Forgive her," Siena said to Annalise. freēwēbnovel.com
"I can ignore her, but it might not be long before I throw her out,"Annalise replied.
