The Knight's Mysterious Maid-Chapter 385: Close to peace (2)

Annalise waved at Rafael. He shouldn’t be angry about this since she was not fighting anyone. She was here helping Siena to get out the window. "We should- Ow!" She groaned. "Who is on my foot?"

"That’s me and Siena. Sorry," Logan apologised. He then helped Siena up to check if she was fine after falling. "Are you alright?"

"My hands hurt from me putting them down when I landed, but I think I am fine right now. What matters is that I am out. Now Kayla. Oh," Siena said, startled by the sight of Rafael climbing down. "How is he doing it so fast? I could not find something to step on."

"Next time you shouldn’t do something so reckless. You could have hurt yourself from not having the strength to hold your body and your fingers slipping. We need to go inside because you’re not dressed for the cold," Logan said as he noticed her shivering. "Why were you trying to escape this way? Was he trying to hurt you?"

"He was upset with me for something," Siena answered, leaving out that Logan was part of the reason Travis was angry. He did nothing wrong so she didn’t want him feeling like he had caused Travis to lash out.

There was much for her to be thankful for when it came to the knights storming the mansion. What she wanted to know now was if Travis was dead and starting to figure out where she would be spending the rest of the night and tomorrow. She didn’t want to remain here especially if there were dead bodies all over.

Rafael made it down to the ground and walked to where Annalise remained seated. "Did you hurt yourself?" He asked, going down to her level to check.

"Logan’s heavy ass fell on me. I’m going to be fine after stretching it for a moment. Or you can just lift me," Annalise said as she found herself being picked up. "I was just looking around and saw her hanging out the window. She would have fallen and hurt herself if we weren’t here. I kept my promise to not get into a fight."

"You ignored the one where you were meant to stay put. We have Travis so you can walk around freely but we’re getting ready to move before the guards arrive. We have to take him elsewhere. Is there somewhere we can send you to be safe?" Rafael questioned Siena.

He couldn’t leave her here with the mess inside. He would have it cleaned tomorrow and then she could get whatever she needed.

"She can come to the manor with us. That is the safest place for her to be unless you have family in town," said Annalise.

"I don’t have anyone here. I’d like to go with you even if it is just for the night. I can find somewhere to be tomorrow after I get the money I have. It will be awkward if I stay with you," Siena replied, thinking of the fact Travis had started to spread that she was going to marry Rafael, but Annalise was the one Rafael wanted.

Siena didn’t want there to be foolish rumours going around about her staying in the manor while Annalise was there. They had dealt with enough from Travis and seeing how close the two were now, it seemed like they were finally together.

Siena thought of getting a carriage and going back home, but how was she to explain this to her father? She would love to go somewhere else instead of returning to her parents right away.

"Nonsense. You can stay at the manor for as long as you need. It’s the least Rafael can do for the mess he and his knights most likely created there. I have dresses that might fit you so you don’t need to go inside right now. Logan can escort you to the manor since he is pleading with his eyes for us to let him do it," Annalise said, eyeing Logan who had the same annoying look back when he liked her.

All Annalise could think right now was poor Siena. Then again, she noticed the faintest blush when Siena looked Logan’s way.

’What is happening here?’ Annalise wondered. How was there something between the two? When had they spoken or was there just an attraction to each other based on looks?

Logan was annoying during his time chasing Annalise, but he was kind. As long as he backed off if Siena did not want to court him, there was no reason for Annalise to be concerned about this growing relationship.

"Go ahead to the horses. I need to speak with Annalise alone," Rafael said.

Annalise panicked, thinking he was angry with her and wanted to scold her for leaving where she was meant to be. "I think we should all stick together and talk when we get back to the manor. It’s never a good idea for anyone to split up. You can put me down now, Rafael. My foot feels better."

"Logan," Rafael said.

"I heard you loud and clear. Come with me, Siena. I’ll find your maid before we leave. Hurry," Logan whispered, placing his hand on her lower back to usher her away, but he realised his mistake and moved it. "Sorry. I shouldn’t have touched you."

"It is fine. I’d be rude to not let someone who caught me touch me. I also want to get out of here since you look scared," Siena whispered.

"Ezra!" Annalise called, reaching out her right hand for him to take her with him. "You traitor! I am not saving you from my father."

Annalise watched the three people she thought were good friends leave her alone with Rafael.

"I’m not going to forget this. I promise you that I was not looking for a fight. I heard the noise and no one was coming out so I wanted to come near to look around. The moment you got Travis you should have sent someone out to say that you are not hurt. I should be angry with you-"

Annalise’s words were muffled by Rafael kissing her. Her eyes opened wide from the shock of him kissing her instead of scolding her about not being where he left her, but instead of arguing, she gave in and enjoyed the kiss.

Annalise was even more surprised by how he kissed in a moment like this when they were here to kidnap someone. All she could think of was finding a room to continue. "I thought you were angry with me? Did you kiss me to get me to shut up?" Annalise asked, poking his chest armour.

"I didn’t. I don’t like that you didn’t stay put, but I kissed you because it’s what I wanted at the moment," Rafael replied.

"Well, if you are going to kiss me like that after kidnapping your uncle, we should find some more of your relatives to take so I can enjoy that kiss again," said Annalise. "Should we take your grandfather?"
