The Alpha's Fated Mate Is an Outcast-Chapter 68
Chapter 68: Chapter 68
Lyndon approached Alexis who’d made a list of the boxes within the storage room.
"Are you done?"
"Yes." Alexis nodded, handing the list to him.
He stared at her for a few seconds and slowly smiled. "It feels quite nostalgic, you know."
She blinked cluelessly at him.
He laughed. "You used to be very...clueless, weak, didn’t know how to do a thing. But now, you’re much better, good at almost everything. Capable. Makes me proud, ya know?"
Alexis tried stifling the smile that spread on her lips. She slowly bowed to him and cleared her throat. "Thank you!"
The man ruffled her hair. "You’re very cute sometimes." Then he pointed at the remaining boxes. "You can try moving those boxes with Kaelis."
She nodded and moved along, pulling the hem of her shirt to her elbows. She bent and picked up the box, then proceeded to leave. However right before she could get to the door, she tripped over something, falling with a thud.
Her head rang loudly and she rose a bit on her palms, turning her head only to freeze at one of the staff who was snickering at her. He’d intentionally tripped her. But why?
She hadn’t done anything wrong to him. She’d never even spoken to him before.
"What the fuck? Why did you trip him?" Kaelis was in the man’s face, grabbing him and slamming him into the nearest wall. "Are you crazy?"
The man glared at him. "Get your fucking hands off me. It was a mistake, okay? I didn’t trip him on purpose."
"You lying piece of shit! I saw that dirty smirk on your face!" Kaelis’s hand balled into a fist, and ready to punch him in the face. But then,
"What the heck is going on?" It was Lyndon approaching.
Kaelis shoved the man hard before letting go of him. He didn’t answer and instead turned towards Alexis. He grabbed her arm and carefully pulled her to her feet, then he proceeded to load the box back for her.
"Alexis, are you okay?" Lyndon asked.
She nodded. "I’m okay."
"Thank you," she said to Kaelis, who made a beeline to leave the storage room with big boxes in hand.
"Are you angry?"
"Do you know that fucker?" Kaelis asked.
Alexis shook her head. "No. We’ve never spoken before."
"I’m going to punch his nose into his face if he pulls that nasty shit again."
"Are you pissed?"
"Don’t worry about it, let’s get this box to the omegas."
They arrived at the maid’s quarter and the first person they met was Noemi. Her face lit up, burning crimson at the sight of Alexis who smiled at her.
Kaelis quirked a brow. "My, I think that omega has a crush on you."
She shot him a look. "W-what?"
"You’re not seriously oblivious to that, are you?" He stared at her, finding her reaction comical. "I don’t think she’s subtle with it. I mean, she’s giving you the eyes and she gets all red whenever you talk to her. Look at all those smiles."
Alexis rapidly blinked, unsure what to say. "Oh!" She shifted her gaze to Noemi.
Sereia burst into laughter in her head, unable to hold herself back. "Wow kid, aren’t you just something else? You even have omegas falling in love with you."
’Finally decided to wake up?’ Alexis rolled her eyes. ’You’ve been gone for two days’
"Did you miss me?"
A small smile perched on her lips. ’It’s a lot lonely...without you.’
Reia was suddenly silent in her head, but then she chuckled. "I’m always here, it doesn’t matter if I’m silent or resting. I think I’ve been getting weaker and weaker these days. I’m unsure why."
’I’m worried, Sereia. What if something is going wrong with you? I don’t want you to leave...I don’t want to be alone.’
Sereia sighed. "Calm down, kiddo, and put that smile back on your face. I’m not going anywhere, I’m always going to be with you, you know that. We are one, we exist with each other, so relax, okay? This is just temporary."
’Do you promise?’
"I promise."
"Thank you for bringing this over," Noemi, who’d taken the box from her, said with a toothy smile. "I hope you have a great day, Alexis." And then she left.
"Will you look at that smile?" Kaelis laughed. "If someone could just look at me like that too."
Alexis knocked his arm with a big smile on her face. "Someone will. You’re handsome and really nice. You have every quality."
He lowered his gentle eyes to her and blew out a sigh-like breath. Then he asked, "Would you like to take a picture with me?"
"Picture?" She arched a brow at him.
He nodded as he took his phone out of the pocket of his suit. Then he browsed into the camera app and lifted it enough to get both of them into the frame.
"CHEESE!" Alexis’s jade white teeth were exposed in a hearty smile and she lifted two fingers on each hand.
Click. Kaelis took the picture.
.....
The staff from earlier glanced from both left and right before proceeding to knock on the door of Althea’s room.
"This is Pyras."
"Come in," the voice belonged to her.
The man, Pyras pushed the door open and stepped inside. He lifted his gaze to the table situated close to the opened corner of the door that led to the balcony.
Althea was seated with her legs crossed, a cup of coffee in her hand.
"Any news?" she questioned.
Pyras responded, "I did what you asked me to do."
"And how did it go."
"It went well, but then someone got involved."
Althea glanced at him. "Who got involved?"
"Kaelis."
She raised a brow. "Kaelis Heleis? The beta that his parents work for my father?"
"Yes ma’am." Pyras nodded.
"I see." The edge of her lips dipped and she breathed out. "Just do what I asked you to do. Mess with Alexis until she loses it, enough to do something crazy. Do you understand?"
"Yes, ma’am."
"You’re dismissed," she shooed him out.
Pyras bowed and straightened up, turned, and left, the door shut behind him.
Althea stared out into the bright sky, face as vibrant and pretty as could be.
"You don’t know what I have in store for you, Alexis—how far I can go when I’m pushed..."
She bit down on her lip. "...I’m never going to stop. So, let’s see how long you’ll last in my hell."
