The Alpha's Fated Mate Is an Outcast-Chapter 67
Chapter 67: Chapter 67
As early as four in the morning, Kaelis walked out of the staff’s quarter, hands shoved into the pocket of his sweats.
He lifted his head to the dark sky, a soft breath fleeing his nose. He was just about to turn and walk back inside, but then something grabbed his attention.
Someone...leaving through the gate.
Huh? Who would be leaving the mansion at such an hour?
But then the person’s frame came into his better view and he arched a brow, now even more confused. He was more than sure that it was Alexis. Where could he be going?
Walking back inside as quickly as he could, he slipped his feet into his sneakers and rushed out through the gate.
Alexis had yet to leave. She was standing in the middle of the road, stretching her body and hopping on her feet as if she were getting ready to go on a...run?
Kaelis furrowed his brows. Since when did he run?
"What are you doing?" he asked as he approached her.
That seemed to startle her because she jumped out of her skin a bit before breathing out in the realization that it was him.
"Kaelis. I didn’t know you came out here."
"Yeah." The man shrugged. "I saw you sneak out of the gate and was wondering where you would be sneaking to."
A smile popped on Alexis’s face and she chuckled softly. "I’m not sneaking off anywhere. I just came out for a run."
"And since when do you run?" He raised a brow at her.
"Since a certain somehow decided to train me. Made me run every early in the morning to make me stronger." She half smiled.
Kaelis moved closer to stand beside her. "And has that worked?"
"Don’t you think so?" Alexis eyed him with amusement.
The man laughed. "It did. A lot. Though I would still beat you with ease if we fought."
She shot him a look of horror.
He laughed harder and tilted his head from side to side as he asked, "Would you like company?"
Alexis blinked at him. "You want to run with me?"
"Sure, why not."
She cackled and took off her pace. Kaelis ran after her, catching up in no time, but keeping a bit slower than he normally would run so he could move side by side with her.
By five in the morning, they were done and running back. Alexis was breathing heavily, but she didn’t seem so tired and out of breath. If anything, she had a smile on her face.
Kaelis was hurrying right next to her, looking like he barely broke a sweat.
"It must be so easy for you to run, huh?" she asked, pulling the gate open to step inside with him.
Kaelis laughed at the back of his throat as he threw his head to the side in pure pride. But then he tossed his arm around her shoulder as they proceeded to head in. "Compared to you, yes it’s very easy for me to run. I wasn’t even running at my fastest. But if I were to compete with an alpha, I would lose without a doubt. In the same way, alphas would lose to the supreme alpha."
"Ah..." Alexis nodded.
"Who’s your running buddy, by the way? The person who trained you?" the man suddenly asked.
Alexis paused and glanced at him, eyes flickering as if she were thinking of what to say. He surely wouldn’t believe her if she told him it was Keelion.
So she pulled a big smile and responded, "Augustus."
"Huh?" Kaelis seemed shocked. "That grumpy alpha? Well, would you look at that."
"He’s not grumpy."
"When have you ever seen him smile?"
"Never...?"
"Exactly. He’s always frowning. Never nice to anyone except Lyndon. No one has ever seen him smile. He’s too serious."
Alexis rubbed her chin and suddenly turned to face him with a questioning look. "Kaelis, has Augustus always been so close with Lyndon?"
"No." The man shook his head. "If I’m correct, he knew Lyndon for the first time when he was brought here by the alpha."
"I see."
"Why do you ask?"
"Nothing." She shook her head and pointed into the mansion. "I’ll be heading in now."
"See you later." Kaelis left and she stood still for a few seconds before proceeding to walk in, but then something grabbed her attention and she lifted her gaze to the balcony on the second floor.
There was nothing there.
But she could swear she saw someone there.
Her face furrowed into a frown and she walked off into the building.
"Well, isn’t this interesting..." Althea moved out from behind the curtain of her room where she’d hidden and stepped back into the balcony.
She pulled out her phone, and turned it on, making sure the video she had taped was saved.
Wasn’t Keelion just so possessive of him? Wasn’t he just so protective?
She didn’t think he was going to like what she would be showing just as long as she made proper use of this videotape.
After all, the one way to destroy something as easily as possible is through...chaos. Not even Keelion Fane himself was immune to chaos.
Althea turned and strolled off into her room, opening the wine cabinet to take out a bottle. It was quite worth drinking this early in the morning.
Before, she had been immature, rampantly looking for ways to get rid of the beta. What she failed to understand then was that she could take this slow and easily, then root him out completely where there would be no chance of ever saving him.
She would slowly break him apart bit by bit without him even knowing. She would watch it all unfold, all she had to do was make sure that her plans wouldn’t go wrong in any way.
Alexis’s reaction to every one of her hell-induced plans would have to go accordingly—she’ll have to control him like a puppet. That was the only way she was going to win.
Her red lips stretched farther into a grin.
She breathed
"Well...this will be fun."
