The Alpha's Fated Mate Is an Outcast-Chapter 64
Chapter 64: Chapter 64
Keelion shot her a look.
She said, "I was beat up by him, and you never visited me, you never even touched me like you just did him. But now, I only slapped him and here you are running to his rescue."
"So what?" he was unbothered. "If that is all, get out of my office."
The man turned, walking off to take a seat in his office chair, legs crossed and head thrown back.
Althea fumed towards the wall and balled her fists so tightly her knuckles turned white. She slowly faced Keelion, questioning, "What are you going to do about him?"
"Nothing," he answered.
"W-what do you mean?" she asked. "He put his hands on me. I AM YOUR Luna for goddess’s sake, Keelio—"
He shot her a freezing look, deadly enough that it would skin her alive if it could.
"Fane," she corrected herself. "I am your Luna, and you’re going to let a beta that puts his hands on me get away with it? Since when have your morals changed? You would never let a beta or an alpha get away with it if they ever put their hands on an omega, so what is so different about him, huh?"
Keelion halted twirling his seat to face her, and then he uncrossed his legs and rested his arms on the desk, his fingers steepled. "Are you demanding an explanation from me?"
"Don’t I deserve it?"
He slanted his head at her. "What I decide to do with Alexis has nothing to do with you—"
"I am the victim here!"
"Of course you are, and I’m sorry it happened. I would never want to see you get hurt."
"Then do something about him. Kill him, Fane, he deserves it."
Keelion’s face darkened vehemently and his fingers curled tightly as he clenched his fists. "No."
"No?" Althea blinked at him. "W-what do you mean?"
"I said no. I won’t kill Alexis, in fact not a hair on his head will be taken." Then he relaxed back on his seat. "Your family will be compensated, however much you want. Leave Alexis alone, because if you mess with him, Althea, you don’t want to know what I will do to you."
Althea shut her eyes close and breathed out shakily. "You think...you think this is about money?"
"If that’s what you want."
"Fane, I am your soon-to-be Luna, and all I want is justice. You would have killed anyone else had they done this. Why is he different?"
"None of your business. Leave if there is nothing else to speak about. I have a meeting schedul—"
"Are you in love with him?"
Keelion paused.
Then he looked at her. "What?"
"Is that it?" Althea questioned. "You’ve fallen in love with a beta, a beta that you would do anything—"
"Are you insane?" Keelion questioned, an irritated look on his face. "I don’t do fucking LOVE! Don’t make me repeat myself."
He slammed his hands on the table and sprung to his feet. "No one will touch Alexis, he is mine to deal with. Your family will be compensated properly for what has been done to you. If you decide you don’t want that, that is your choice then. You’re dismissed."
His entire mood had spiraled for the worse. It was as if Althea had struck a nerve she shouldn’t have.
Althea stared at him. Keelion didn’t seem like the man she used to know. And it was all because of the beta. Everything was right and perfect around her when he had never come into the picture, and now...she had to drag the man who belonged to her with a fucking mere beta?
She didn’t know whether to cry or laugh. She chose neither but stepped closer to the table, enough to almost have her face close to his.
She mumbled, "Fine then. If that’s your decision. I’ll accept it. It’s not like I can go against you or do what you said no to."
Her lips stretched into a soft smile and she turned leaving the office and closing the door behind her.
She rested her back against it and scoffed. "As if. You wish!"
———-
It has been four days now since she began working at the convenience store and so far, it has gone perfectly fine. It was perfect work for her. Good for omega or anyone like her, simple too without her having to interact too much with people.
Maybe things wouldn’t be so bad when Keelion no longer needed her—-when the mark finally faded completely. She should be fine with her mother, just as long as she can keep her condition a secret.
A soft breath fled her nose and she looked down at the apron she wore, quickly picking out her cell phone. Thirty minutes! She’d forgotten to give Keelion a call.
The man had strictly told her to ring him every thirty minutes and she’d forgotten to do that for the last thirty minutes, lost in her stupid thoughts.
Her face scrunched into a frown and she browsed into the phone, proceeding to dial his number, but then the phone was taken from her hand all of a sudden. This prompted her to lift her head, only for her to find a six-foot alpha standing right in front of her and staring down at her with an amused expression.
She blinked in confusion.
"Sir...can I have my phone back?"
"No," the man answered.
"Please give the phone back." She stretched her hand.
The man smirked. "What kind of a worker are you, hm? You keep your attention on your phone and ignore your customers? Do you know how long I’ve been standing here?"
Alexis breathed out. She was sure this man hadn’t been there until a few seconds ago. Still, she apologized, "My apologies. It won’t happen again. Please give me my phone back."
He glanced at the phone and then at her. But he didn’t give it back. Instead, he said, "You have quite the attitude even for an omega." His nose twitched as if he were attempting to smell her scent, but then his brows furrowed. "Oh, you’re not an omega. What are you then?"
