The Alpha's Fated Mate Is an Outcast-Chapter 62
Chapter 62: Chapter 62
Alexis blinked her eyes open, staring for a few moments before lowering her gaze to the spot where Sereia had curled up to her before falling asleep last night. But Reia was nowhere to be found, so she assumed that she was probably back into that recuperative sleep she took sometimes.
She turned on the bed and went completely still the second her gaze fell on Keelion who lay on his back fast asleep with his head turned towards her.
His white strands were tousled roughly and a few fell over his face, slightly covering the surprisingly noticeable length of his snow-coloured lashes that paired well with the blueness of his eyes.
He was beautiful—really beautiful like no one she’d ever laid eyes on before. But then, his beauty was a cruel one too. He wasn’t delicate in any way. He was beautiful so much it was gut-wrenching—yet he was frightening.
A soft breath fled Alexis’s nose and she shifted her gaze back to his hair, fingers itching to card into it, to feel the softness—to touch.
He was asleep, surely it wouldn’t be a problem if she did, right?
Her movement was reluctant, but she did touch the strands over his face first, gently brushing them back off his forehead, then she ruffled his hair experimentally, before her index finger slowly trailed down his nose, well sculpted and just...perfect. Everything about him was just perfect as if the moon goddess took extra time with him.
Her finger fell to the softness of his lips, light pink and neither full nor thin. She paused. She probably should touch, but there was just something about this man that messed with her head.
They were mates, yes, she was very reactive to his pheromones, yes. But it was just—
"What are you doing?"
Keelion blinked his lashes apart, the pair of glacial blues locking with her eyes that had gone impossibly wide.
Alexis couldn’t utter a word.
She just lay there like a statue. She suddenly couldn’t breathe. Her heart was pounding rapidly inside her chest.
Wait, her heart? Why was it pounding?
What was this weird sense of butterflies fluttering in her stomach? It wasn’t subsiding—it rather kept building, the longer she sat there staring at him with no one to give an explanation.
Alexis averted her gaze and quickly sat up on the bed, ready to bounce out by all means. She couldn’t take it anymore staying in his presence. He was messing with her head and this had nothing to do with his pheromones. His pheromones were barely even in the room because he wasn’t releasing them.
Keelion, however, was quick to grasp her by the arm, enough that she was flipped, falling heavily into him.
Her forehead hit into his shoulder and her hands gripped the bed where they were pressed. She breathed.
Keelion dragged his fingers through her hair before they wrapped around the nape of her neck, pulling her back just a tad bit so he could look at her face.
"Where were you going?"
She fluttered her lashes. "W...work. I have—"
"But I didn’t say you could go just yet," he said, thumb rubbing the flesh of her neck. "Were you trying to run from me?"
Alexis rapidly blinked at him. "Run? R-run from you? That wasn’t...I wasn’t trying to..."
"I’ll let you go," Keelion hummed, and slowly pulled her closer. He buried his face into her neck, enough that his breath could fan the mating mark. She felt the touch of his canines. Was he going to bite her again? Did he want to bite her mating gland?
And Keelion did. His teeth itched to do it, he’d always been wanting to bite it over and over again, but he couldn’t. He knew he couldn’t, and as a way of controlling himself again, he bit into her neck, just not close enough to her mating gland.
"The issue with Augustus, I’ve solved it. You have nothing to be scared of."
Alexis inhaled sharply, grasping against his arms until she felt him lick against the spot and pulled back to stare at her.
"You can go." Maybe it was her imagination, but she was sure that she saw a smirk on his face.
She didn’t however waste time, getting off him and rushing out of the room, the door slammed heavily shut behind him.
She pressed her back against it and lifted her hand to rub her chest.
Why was her heart pounding so loudly? She’d never experienced such discomfort around him until recently. As if even a simple look from him, set her entire body on fire.
Alexis fisted her hands nervously and quickly began to walk off, puttering off to the room she shared with Lyndon and Augustus. She was a bit skeptical. Would Augustus be in there?
He wouldn’t put his hands on her again, right? Keelion did say he’d handled it.
Arriving at the door, she halted and stared for a few seconds, before turning the handle and stepping inside.
Augustus was seated at the bunk bed and knelt in front of him was Lyndon who held his hand, wrapping it up in a bandage.
He was badly hurt. Did Keelion do that to him?
Augustus met her gaze and she took a step back, contemplating whether to leave or not. But the man spoke, "I would like to speak to you."
Then he glanced down at Lyndon. "Leave us."
Lyndon was a bit reluctant, but he did get up to leave, halting next to Alexis. He didn’t say a word, instead abruptly patted her head, ruffling it before walking out and closing the door.
She blinked, confused. Didn’t he know Augustus was hurt because of her? She’d expect the man to somewhat resent her like Damian did, after all, he was especially very close to Augustus if she was the only one who’d noticed.
Augustus stood up and approached.
She watched him, swallowing and fighting herself not to be afraid or take a step back. No one would hurt her, not for now, Keelion promised her that.
The man stood in front of her, and before she could mutter a word, he bowed deeply at her, saying, "I’m sorry for what happened yesterday, sincerely. I hadn’t meant to hurt you, I’m not that kind of person. But it’s also not an excuse."
Then he rose to meet her eyes.
"I’ve known Keelion for ten years and counting, he is the reason I am alive and breathing."
Alexis fluttered her eyes at him. "W-what do you mean?"
