The Alpha's Fated Mate Is an Outcast-Chapter 58
Chapter 58: Chapter 58
It’d been two days since the incident.
The door to the ward into which Althea was admitted into pushed open, and a middle-aged man and a woman rushed in.
Althea turned her gaze away from the window to them. "Mum? Dad?"
"My poor baby." Her mother rushed over to her and took a seat on the bed. She examined her all over and lifted her hand to her face, stroking carefully enough not to hurt bruised parts, especially her nose which had a bandaid over it. "Are you okay? Does it hurt too much?"
"Of course it does, what do you expect?" Althea glared at her. "That asshole broke my nose."
"Who was it?" Her father stepped forward. "Who did this to you?"
Althea folded her arms, a massive frown on her face. She responded, "It was that damn beta. He put his hands on me."
Both her father and her mom glanced at each other. "The beta...the one who is getting too close to the alpha?" her mom asked. fгeewebnovёl.com
She nodded her head at them. "It’s him."
"What did Keelion Fane do?" her father questioned, hands balling into fists next to his legs. "Tell me that beta has been punished. He deserves to be killed!"
"Nothing has been done." Her mother furrowed her brows at him. "If something had been done, surely it would have been broadcasted in the news for everyone to see. Our daughter is the alpha’s soon-to-be Luna, this kind of thing can’t go unpunished."
"Of course it can’t," Althea scoffed. "I know Keelion enough to know that one thing he hates is an alpha or a beta putting their hands on an omega. That asshole is not getting away with it. You know what, I’m glad this happened. It might have been painful, but now I have found a way to get rid of him. I don’t even need to do it myself, don’t you get it?"
She glanced at them with an expectant look.
"The beta is trouble, isn’t he?" Her father raised his brows at her.
Althea cursed under her breath. "Dad, I’m Keelion’s Luna, soon to be. Even if he doesn’t love me, he cares deeply for me and I guarantee you he would never pick that beta over me. Are you listening to yourself?"
"I’m just worried, alright," the man grumbled. "If this beta is enough for you to call him a threat, then I think we need to take this more seriously. Make sure Keelion Fane gets rid of him."
"Oh, you don’t have to worry about that." Althea smirked to herself. "I’ll personally make sure of it."
.....
"Are you okay?" Kaelis asked, a concerned look on his face.
Alexis glanced at him. "Why are you asking?" They were moving boxes back and forth to the maid’s quarters.
"Why am I asking?" the man stared at her with an unbelievable look on his face. "Alex, you’ve been moping for three days now. You’ve been fidgety like your life is at risk and someone could jump out and stab you any second from now. So what the heck is going on with you? Did something happen?"
She averted her gaze from him, lowering her head.
"Alexis...?"
"It’s not something I can talk about," she responded. "And yes, my life is on the line. I could lose my life."
The man blinked at her, still not able to fathom what she could have done.
He shifted closer to her, this time whispering, "Would you mind telling me what exactly you could have done?"
"Why?" She eyed him.
"Maybe I can help you, silly." He let out a puff of laughter. "It’s not exactly very comfortable seeing you all fidgety and frightened. I want to help somehow if I possibly can."
A small laugh fled from her, and she averted her saddened gaze from him, sighing. "I wish you could help. But this is—"
"Alexis!"
The thundering of her name made her turn, only to still unnaturally at the sight of Augustus who stood with not a very pleased look on his face.
"Sir...?"
"Come with me."
Her chest pounded. Keelion wouldn’t let her get hurt, right? She made a mistake, yes, but surely he wouldn’t let anyone hurt her...right?"
’Sereia?’
But Sereia was nowhere to be found—she hadn’t been since morning. And she was sure it was one of those days she goes AFK to recuperate her strength.
"Alexis, I said, follow me!" Augustus snapped at her and left before she could even say a word.
She bit down into her bottom lip and lifted her head towards Kaelis who’d stepped closer to her.
"Alexis what’s going on?" he asked. "At least tell me. I would be able to help you somehow. I don’t know, just—"
She shook her head at him. "T-there is nothing you can do. I’ll handle it." She left before he could say a word, making her way out of the foyer to follow after Augustus.
Beads of sweat were dripping down her face, her sweaty fingers rubbing against the hem of her suit jacket.
What had she been thinking? She knew better than to be impulsive. She didn’t belong anywhere, not here and it was already a miracle that Keelion had kept her safe for this long.
She had been treading carefully, making sure there was nothing that could put her on the line. And just like a pop, everything had come crashing down. All her hard work.
Not just her life, but Sereia’s life was at risk. If she died, Sereia wouldn’t survive as well.
They finally stopped at an empty corridor that led to the unused part of the mansion, not unless there were guests. It wasn’t as bright as the frequently used hallways as the chandeliers were turned off, the only thing left switched on being the wall light.
"Sir...?" She stared at Augustus who’d come to a halt. "Is something the—"
Her skinny hand was grasped and before she could even register anything, her body was slammed against the wall, the man cramping into her space, crowding her with his large frame.
Alexis held her breath, never been so fear-stricken. Was he going to stab her?
