Chapter 48: Chapter 48

Lorcan snapped his head towards Keelion.

"What?"

"Your hand," Keelion said softly. "Take it off."

"Holy Moon, Kid. I don’t like the tension here."

Alexis gulped and forcefully proceeded to take her hand off, but Lorcan wouldn’t let go. Instead, the man half smiled at Keelion, saying, "I just want to say hello to this beautiful beta. I’ve never seen anything as pretty. So delicate like a flower."

"Okay, he makes me uncomfortable. We need to leave this place."

"What is your name?" Lorcan asked. frёewebnoѵēl.com

She looked at Keelion, teeth biting into her bottom lip. "A-Alexis. M-m-my name is Alexis."

"Alexis..." the man repeated in a soft pondering tone. "Pretty." He lifted her hand to his mouth and kissed the dorsal with a very implying glint in his red eyes. "You’re very beautiful, nice to meet you."

And then he let her go. She didn’t stall, not even in the slightest, and quickly hurried to the door, pulling it open and stepping out.

She slammed the door shut and pressed her back against it, nausea rising to her throat. She hated it, that simple touch of his. He wasn’t Keelion—only Keelion could touch her like that.

Her body shivered in disgust.

"He makes me uncomfortable too, Kid. We need to stay away from that man at all costs."

She didn’t disagree, rapidly nodding her head and rushing off in quick strides.

Lorcan turned towards Keelion, flinching just so slightly it would be hard to notice. He couldn’t take his eyes off the man who sat, with interlocked hands staring at him with blackened eyes, no sign of the whites or even the blue of his iris.

"Fane. Do we have a problem?"

Keelion didn’t answer him and instead stood up from the chair. He took menacingly low steps towards the man until he was standing so close to him, that every swallow Lorcan took could be heard.

He slanted his head to the side in a very intimidating manner, eyes falling to the hand he’d used to grab Alexis.

"Is it not useful to you?" he asked.

"What?" Lorcan arched a brow at him at first, before his attention shifted to his hand. "My hand?"

"I don’t think it’s very useful to you, but I could be wrong." Keelion’s voice, his demeanor, and everything about him at that moment was unsettling. "If it is indeed useful to you, keep your hands off him."

He rasped, "Because if you ever touch him again..." The blue of his eyes returned. "You’re in my territory, Lorcan, and one single mistake...one more, I’ll tear you to pieces."

Lorcan inhaled shakily. "He must mean something to you." A sarcastic laugh fled from his lip as he nodded his head. "Okay, my bad. It won’t happen again."

Keelion didn’t move.

"Fane, I’ve got the memo, can we get back to business?" he asked, seeming as if he’d lost his breath.

"Of course." The tension dissipated as Keelion abruptly pulled away. "Let’s get back to business."

Lorcan gasped for air and filled his lungs.

He was strong, yes, stronger than any standard alpha, but Keelion Fane was still a supreme alpha.

It was impossible to stand before his very intimidation without feeling like you were being shredded to pieces.

Any other alpha would have crumbled to their knees because even he nearly had. He found it hard to breathe.

Alexis headed down the hall while rubbing the back of her waist with a pained expression on her face.

"You okay?" Sereia asked.

She nodded. "I’ve been bending and picking up stuff since morning."

"Where are we going though? This isn’t the way to the room—"

"Keelion," she said. "I’ll sleep in his room."

"Are you sure about that? We’ve been frequenting there a lot these days. We’ve got to be careful, you know that."

"I know that, Reia." Alexis breathed out for a second, halting. "But just for today, I want to be there. I need him."

"Why? You’re not in heat."

"I’m not. But I need him, Sereia. I just want to be close, I’ll be fine by the morning."

"Is it that asshole alpha from the morning? Is he why you’re like this? I mean I can feel it too...but... Goodness, It’s really not good that we’re separated, kid."

Alexis glanced at her. "Why?"

"Keelion isn’t a standard alpha, so his mark is more effective than any alphas. It’s what is affecting you. You’re disgusted by that alpha touching you the way he did, and that’s why you’re suddenly needing Keelion. You won’t calm down, not unless you—"

Alexis tripped on something right around Keelion’s door, almost falling to the floor. She caught herself, enough to land on her palms, turning her head to look at Althea who’d tripped her.

"This bitch!" Sereia turned towards the woman who couldn’t see her, growling and snarling at her. "Go into the room, Kid, leave her with me, I’ll handle this."

Althea arched a brow at Alexis, smirking. "What happened?" she asked with obvious mockery in her eyes. "Did you trip? Oh...I didn’t mean to trip you. You just weren’t looking where you were going. Oops."

Alexis’s hands clenched into fists and she slowly rose to her feet. She glanced at her and forced a light smile on her face. "I-it’s okay. I should have looked where I was going."

"Alexis!" Sereia snapped up at her.

She subtly shook her head at her and turned around to walk off, but Althea stormed towards her and snatched her by the shoulder.

"Where do you think you’re going?" she questioned, but then widened her eyes as if the realization had just dawned on her. "Fane’s room. Isn’t it where you’re going?"

Alexis’s eyes grew as massive as a saucer, her first instinct being to deny it. "W-what? No! I wasn’t. Why would I ever? T-that’s the alpha’s—"

"Shut up."

Althea scoffed and snatched her by the collar of her loose shirt. "Do you think I’m stupid?" she questioned. "I know you come in here and go as you please. Who do you think you are, huh? Do you realize that is the alpha’s bedroom? What makes you think you filthy eyesore can step in there whenever you want?"

Alexis was as frozen as ice, rapidly blinking her eyes, unsure what to do or whether to keep denying it.

"Answer me!"
