The Alpha's Fated Mate Is an Outcast-Chapter 49
Chapter 49: Chapter 49
Althea shoved her so hard that she staggered back.
"It’s not like that." Alexis caught herself on her foot. "This is a misunderstanding." It wasn’t that she was afraid of Althea, but it was the fact that she was someone Keelion would probably make her Luna. In no way was it a good idea to get into trouble with this woman. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
Keelion wouldn’t always save her, he’d made that clear to her, and she wasn’t about to put him in that situa—
Althea, a bit taller than her, snatched her by the hair, pulling her close enough that she could hear her whisper.
"If I ever see you around Keelion again," she began threateningly. "Or catch you in his room again, I’ll kill you. And when I do, no one will bother about you, I’m sure you know that. Mark my words!"
She shoved her, and Alexis, who was breathing heavily, lifted her head, her breath instantly stuck in her throat at the sight of Keelion who stood behind Althea, hand stuffed into the pockets of his pants.
Blue eyes were fixated on her for what seemed like a few long moments before falling on Althea who slowly turned to look at him.
"F-fane." Her face quickly bloomed into a smile and she went in for a hug, wrapping her arms around him.
Alexis stood, staring, eyes stuck on Keelion who was peering at her as well. She couldn’t read him, or what was going through his head at that very moment.
"I was just about to come see you," Althea mumbled to him in a very pouting manner. "I missed you." She cupped his cheek, going on her tiptoes to kiss him.
But the man yanked her hands off as if he were disgusted and dragged his fingers through his hair.
Althea stared at him, confused. "Fane—"
"What is going on here?"
"Oh..." She glanced at Alexis. "He did something wrong and I was just correcting him on it. That is all." Then she turned to her with a glare. "What are you still doing here? Leave!"
Alexis however, wouldn’t take a step. She stood still, never once taking her eyes off Keelion. "No..." she shook her head.
Althea widened her eyes at her. "What? Are you crazy? I said you should leave!" Her looks were murderous.
"I can’t." Alexis refused.
"Do you think I’m giving you a choice? I said you should lea—"
Keelion cut her off, asking, "What do you want?"
"You," Alexis responded before her brain could even register what she had said.
"What?" Althea snarled. "What do you mean by that?"
Keelion cocked a brow at her and Alexis defensively waved her hand. "I-I mean I have something to talk to you about, Alpha. That is what I meant."
Silence fell between the three of them before Keelion slowly nodded. "I see." He glanced at Althea. "You may leave."
"HUH?!" She wasn’t sure if she’d heard the man correctly. Surely he didn’t mean her, right? It made no sense why he would ask her to leave, but not the beta. "Fane—"
"You may leave, Althea. I’ll see you later." Then he shifted his attention to Alexis, nodding to the door of his room. "Go inside."
Alexis nodded without hesitation and hurried her way inside.
Althea stared up at Keelion, a mix of shock, embarrassment, and disbelief evident on her face. "W-what is the meaning of this?"
"He has something to talk to me about, Althea. Or is there a problem?" he questioned.
She let out a dry laugh, incredulous before peering him dead in the eyes. "Fane, what is going on between you two? And don’t tell me that I don’t know what I’m—"
"You and I will talk later," he interrupted her, and right before she could make a response, he stepped into his room and slammed the door shut in her face.
She stood there, frozen and dumbfounded.
What the...fuck?
..
Alexis stared at the man who stood at the door, his brow cocked at her. "I told you not to be careless, Alexis."
"I know. A-and I wasn’t trying to be." She shook her head at him. "I’m just...I don’t...I don’t feel so good."
His brows furrowed, and he looked her over as a whole, noting her fidgety demeanor. She’d always been a very fidgety person like she could lose her life in any second, but this was different. Almost like she was discomforted by something.
Him?
He doubted he did, else, why would she come to see him? It wasn’t like he was going to drag her over to be with him.
Keelion took a step toward her.
"You’re not in heat. So what’s the problem?"
Alexis blinked up at him and slowly turned away from him to face the wall with hands clenched into fists.
"Alexis, look at me," he demanded, with no trace of amusement on his face.
She didn’t move, instead, she asked, "That man from earlier, w-who exactly is he?"
Everything changed. The warmth of the room dropped a dozen degrees, causing her to shiver rapidly. She didn’t dare look at him, because she knew the change was him. But why? Was he mad? It was just a question.
Prominent shadow stretched across the room and the sudden cracking of knuckles could be heard.
She slowly tried to turn her head, to look at him. He was staring at her with the kind of look that no one had ever given her before. It was almost... possessive.
"Keelion—"
"Why are you curious about him?" Keelion’s breath was icy against the side of her cheek, the opposite of the intense body heat oozing from him. "Why do you want to know who he is?"
There was this tinge of annoyance in his tone.
He caged her against the wall—his belly muscles pressed into her back. She felt so small all of a sudden.
"What about him makes you so curious you had to come all the way here just to question me?"
