The Alpha's Fated Mate Is an Outcast-Chapter 45
Chapter 45: Chapter 45
"He’s not here."
Disappointment rolled along with Alexis’s words at Keelion’s absence in the room. If there was any trace of him, it was the smell of his scent all over the room. The only scent that she could smell.
Her gaze shifted to the bed and she walked over to it. She grabbed the jacket Keelion had tossed on it and moved to the couch to plop into it.
"It smells good." She inhaled the strong scent lingering on it, eyes falling shut. "So so good."
Sereia got onto the couch and curled up right next to her. She asked, "Do you feel okay?"
"Why do you ask?"
"You know that I can feel what you feel. I’m telling you you have nothing to feel guilty about. That jerk deserved it. Keelion is our mate, there is no way he would have let him off the hook."
Alexis flickered her eyes. "It isn’t exactly about guilt."
"Then what is it?" ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
"You heard Damian. I didn’t want to be the cause of someone’s misery, not when I know what misery feels like."
"And who says you are the cause of his misery?" Sereia glared at her. "Kid, you lied to Keelion because of him. If he hadn’t started messing with you early this morning, everything would have been fine. Keelion would have never found out he was the one who punched you. He got himself into that situation, none of it is your fault, do you understand me?"
Alexis didn’t make a response, instead proceeded to take a deep breath.
"Listen, Kiddo, you and I, we are special, rare, dominant omegas that just about any alpha would die for. We are not pushovers, do you understand? I know your emotions and mine have yet to merge because we are separated from each other, but we are still the same, and I need you to understand that. You are not just anyone, you are the mate of a supreme alpha. That jerk doesn’t deserve your pity!"
Alexis squinted at her. "You sound very mean."
Sereia scoffed. "You’re lucky I like you."
"So you do like me." Alexis’s dimples deepened as her lips spread into a wide smile. "Do you love me too?"
"Shut up and go to sleep, or tomorrow, I’ll make you carry me around."
She chuckled softly and proceeded to lie on the sofa. Her arms came around Sereia while her fingers clenched onto Keelion’s jacket.
"I feel so hungry."
"Sleep it off. I doubt Keelion is around."
...
Keelion rose from his office chair, gaze lifting towards Augustus.
"He said he’s arriving tomorrow."
"Who?"
"Alpha Lorcan. You are scheduled to meet with him regarding business for both packs."
"Oh." He nodded his head. "Make sure he arrives with no problem. I’ll meet with him tomorrow."
"Yes, sir." Augustus nodded and without waiting to be dismissed, he took his leave and exited the office.
Keelion shut the drawer of his desk and walked over to the door, leaving and shutting it close behind him.
He made his way to his bedroom, but right when he arrived and grabbed the door handle to step in, something made him stop. Another presence, one that was familiar.
Althea. He could smell her scent as if she was just around the corner of the hallway. What was she doing? Following him?
His brow cocked upward and he took a step or three, arriving on the corner turn of the hall in the blink of an eye. Althea who clearly hadn’t expected his sudden appearance, jolted, her heart rushing to her throat in shock.
She breathed heavily, clutching her chest with a face that had paled.
"Why are you following me?" the man questioned.
She fluttered her lashes at him. "F-following you?"
"Althea, do not get on my nerves." He held no expression. "Why were you following me?"
"I wasn’t." She shook her head at him. "I-I was just looking for you, but you already left your office, so I was hoping to come to your room. I just wanted to make sure you weren’t busy, so I wouldn’t be bothering you."
She lied through her teeth.
Keelion gazed at her. She was lying, he knew, but he didn’t care. Instead, he pointed out, "Under no circumstances should you step into my room without my permission, got it?"
Althea’s lashes trembled. ’But you let the beta in and out whenever he wants.’ Her hands clenched into fists. "I understand. I know that, Fane."
"Good."
He ignored the strained look on her face, and turned away, returning to his bedroom where he stepped inside, shutting the door behind him. He spun around, stopping short on his step at the sight of Alexis who was sprawled out on his white sofa, fast asleep.
She was clutching onto his jacket that he’d tossed aside right after taking a shower before heading to his office to work.
His brows arched upwards and he took steps towards her, fingers dragging roughly through his messy white hair.
"Alexis."
She didn’t move. He wasn’t new to the fact that she was a deep sleeper.
How long had she been in his room? Did she eat? Probably not. If he had known, he would have had her dinner delivered to his room before heading off to his office to finish up the rest of his documents that were in stacks to be signed.
Keelion’s gaze shifted to the curly strands of her hair that fell to her eyes. His hand twitched by his side with the need to touch, to card through the softness.
Alexis was going to be the death of him.
He threw his head back to stare at the ceiling and groaned under his breath.
[You know you want her just as much as I do. You want to keep her]
"You really need to shut the fuck up," he grunted and stormed his way over to the bed. But then he stopped, turned around, and stared at Alexis.
He walked over, put his arms under her shoulder and legs, then lifted her off the sofa. He approached the bed, laid her down, and proceeded to run his fingers through her soft curls.
Her scent flooded his nose, and the man quickly breathed heavily, lowering his head.
An incredibly sweet scent that only he could smell. Deep down, the fact that only he could, did something to him. It pleased him, because thinking about it, he wasn’t sure how he would act if someone else could perceive it—the scent that was meant for him and only him.
It drew him crazy, messing with his control each time he smelt it whenever she was near him. It didn’t help that she had no control over her scent or pheromones.
If they could do this to a supreme alpha like him, how would standard alphas react to them?
He didn’t share. Not Alexis, not even a single strand of her hair. Every part of her—the mere existence of her belonged to him.
