Chapter 110: Chapter 110

But what could he have done? Allow Alexis to die? Watch them hurt each other? He couldn’t stomach that. Not when he knew the truth.

Keelion was his friend. And Alexis was a mistreated woman he surprisingly cared for—someone he had promised to protect even if it cost him his life.

Actually, it was fine. Keelion could possibly kill him for this and that was okay. He would be willing to accept the death penalty, but before that happens, he would make sure to take good enough care of Alexis and return her back to him, safe and sound with no need to ever worry about her well-being.

"I’m sorry," he whispered to himself. "I’m sorry...Keelion. I’m sure you must despise me by now for thi—"

"Blaming yourself?" The familiar voice sounded, snapping him back to reality. He turned his head to lock eyes with Kaelis who was approaching him with his hands shoved into the pocket of his slacks.

"You wouldn’t understand a thing." Augustus left the door and began to head off.

The shorter man hurried after him, catching up to walk by his side. "But it’s not your fault though. It’s not as if you don’t have a good reason for this. Besides, if you’re going to blame yourself, everyone else might as well do the same. After all, even his own brother agreed this was a better idea."

"That is different," Augustus said to him. "I’m the only person he’d ever considered a friend. I’m the only friend he has, Kaelis. What should I do? I took the one woman he’d ever loved away from him."

"And his own brother helped." Kaelis shrugged.

"That changes nothing."

They came to a stop as soon as they arrived in the dining room that was the size of a hall.

Lorcan had allowed them to stay at his mansion in his own pack. If Keelion was to ever start looking for Alexis, he was unlikely to search here.

"Aren’t you two, hungry?" Lorcan asked, eyeing Kaelis who shuddered uncomfortably under his gaze.

The man made a face and rubbed his arms. "You creep me the hell out."

"Because my eyes are red? Not my fault by the way," Lorcan said, smirking as he reached for the glass of wine. "Also, you’re not my type. I just find it very amusing to mess with you. Betas are pathetic."

Kaelis made a face of irritation. "Kindly refrain from doing that and please leave me alone." He picked up his utensils, reaching for a piece of scrambled egg. "And one more thing. Betas are cool even if we’re not perfect."

"Keep deluding yourself. Omegas are less pathetic than you lots are. No scent or pheromones, that’s disgusting and—"

Kaelis slammed his hands on the table. "What is with you alphas and thinking you’re better than everyone else? So what if we don’t have scent and pheromones, does that make us any less useful? You’re acting as if you’re not below the supreme alpha himself. Way below him."

"Kaelis—"

"No, don’t tell me anything," he snapped. "He doesn’t just say that to someone’s face as if he’s perfect. Your own little brother is a better version of you. Is that why you’re shitting on those below you to make yourself feel better. Well, get over it."

It was quick as Lorcan’s hand wrapped around his throat, jaw clenching in pure rage. His inferiority to Keelion was something he couldn’t control or deny. Even if he loved Keelion and would never admit how inferior he felt to him, the last thing he needed was having someone below him point that out to him.

His claws elongated and pierced into Kaelis’s throat, but Kaelis was unwilling to be intimidated. There was only one person he was afraid of and that was Keelion. He wasn’t even afraid of Augustus and be it as Lorcan was an alpha in his pack, he was still just a standard alpha.

"Lorcan." Augustus rose to his feet and gripped his wrist. "Let go of him. Now, or you’re going to hurt him."

Lorcan narrowed his eyes on Kaelis. "Keep running your pretty mouth, but don’t forget that I’m not like Keelion whether or not I’m inferior to him. There is a reason everyone except my little brother is afraid of me. I’m crueler, wickeder than he can ever be. You can even call me evil because if I ever decide to excavate you, I’ll do it in a way, you would wish you died before you met me. Have you ever been bitten by a crocodile? Have you ever been eaten by a bunch of them alive?"

"You’re in my territory, my pack. Watch your mouth," he warned.

Kaelis’s face darkened in pure hatred. "Make me," he retaliated. "Taking pride in the fact that you’re a monster. Pathetic."

Lorcan arched a brow at him and then slowly smirked—-the look of it was cruel.

He let go of him and plopped back into his seat, picking up his fork to continue eating.

"Well, great," Keona grumbled. "I don’t want Alexis to wake up to this sort of murderous tension. Please let’s behave. You too Lorcan! Understood?"

Lorcan eyed her. "Don’t tell me what to do in my home, girl."

"Oh, really?" Keona stood up from her seat and stormed over to him. She snatched him by the collar of his suit and gripped his black hair. "I don’t give a fuck that this is your home." freeweɓnøvel.com

"Keona, language!" Amora snapped.

Lorcan widened his eyes as this woman tilted his head back and peered down at him with a threatening look in her eyes. "Listen here, Mr. Big bad alpha, you can mess with anyone else, but if my sis—if Alexs in any way feels discomforted in this place because of you, I’ll kill you. And you don’t know how easily I can do that."

"Keona." Amora sighed. "Stop threatening him."

Keona didn’t back off. "Do you understand me, Mr. Lorcan?"

"Oh, fuck. I think you might just be my type."

"Answer me!"

"Mhm," he hummed with a smile. "I understand. Thoroughly."
