Chapter 105: Chapter 105

The whole guest had their gaze stuck on the mating mark on her neck. It was definitely the Alpha’s mark. The gold of it, the patterns, no standard alpha could create a mating mark like that.

"Do you know why he got rid of you?" Alexis asked, the most malicious smile on her face. "Because I wanted it. If I wanted Keelion to—"

"Alexis, enough." His voice was smooth, filling into her ears and begging. "It’s okay." He grabbed her by the arm and carefully lifted her to her feet, pulling her to his side. "I need you to calm down."

Alexis flickered her gaze up to him. When had he come close to her? She hadn’t noticed.

Keelion breathed out. His people were staring at him, dumbfounded, speechless. They were expecting an explanation and he wasn’t going to give any. This wasn’t what he’d expected of this gala, but since it’s gotten to this point, he might as well see to the end of it.

"Yes, Alexis is a woman, and yes, she is my mate. And no, no one will say otherwise about me keeping her. No one will go against the order I’ve already given concerning Althea." He met the eyes of the crowd. "And no one will call Alexis an outcast. I forbid that. Go ahead and step forward if you have an objection."

The guests glanced at each other. No one could object. The alpha was angry, they could see it in his face. What would happen if anyone within that hall dared to disagree with what he’d just said even if they didn’t want it?

How could an outcast be their Luna? How could he choose an outcast even if she was his mate?

Still, the man was a supreme alpha, their leader. The one who’d kept them safe until now, the one who’d lifted them to where they stood to this very day.

"Alexis, go and wait in my room," Keelion whispered.

"Keelion—"

"Go," he pleaded. "Let me deal with this myself."

Alexis stared at him for a few seconds before eventually relenting. She nodded and left. And as soon as she did, Augustus, Kaelis, and Lorcan locked eyes. They signaled at each other, nodding their heads and proceeding to leave the hall as well.

.....

Alexis shut the door of Keelion’s bedroom and pressed her back against it. Her chest rose and fell in heavy breathing and she slowly slid to the floor on her bottom.

She was done for, she knew she was. The seriousness of this situation was beginning to truly settle in.

She believed Keelion, but could he truly be able to settle things? Would he truly be able to save her life?

Those people would never choose her. To them, she wasn’t worthy of being with a man like Keelion. She would never be fit to be a Luna. They would—

The sound of something crashing to the floor grabbed her attention and she glanced at the broken vase on the floor. She lifted her head to find two women standing in the room. One of them—the one with silver hair, as curly as hers, was smiling crookedly at her.

The other, hair as golden and curly as hers, held a more serious look. Both of them had the very same eye color as hers, and for some reason, she couldn’t understand, she found herself staring at them as if she knew them.

No, it felt as though she knew them. But that was impossible because she was sure she had never seen or met these two women before in her entire life. If she had, she knew she would recall them at one single glance.

"Who...who are you?"

The two women didn’t speak. They were just peering at her as if they couldn’t break eye contact.

Alexis blinked, now even more confused.

"D-do I know you?"

Both women glanced at each other and the one with golden curls spoke, "My name is Amora. This is my sister, Keona."

Keona didn’t hesitate, rushing towards Alexis and pulling her into the warmest, deepest hug.

Alexis was more than dumbfounded. She was bemused, unable to understand what was going on. Who were these people? Why was this woman who looked her age, hugging her?

"Keona, we need to hurry. Keelion Fane will be here anytime soon," Amora said.

Keona nodded and pulled back to stare at Alexis. She cupped her cheek endearingly. "Alexis, we’re here to help you, okay? You can’t stay here or you’re going to get killed. You need to come with us."

Alexis peered at her and suddenly chuckled. "What? W-what do you mean by that? Who are you people? I-I-I don’t even know who you are."

"It’s a long story. We’ll eventually explain, but right now, you need to come with us. You can’t stay here."

"Keona, we’re running out of time," Amora warned, panicking. "If Keelion Fane comes in here, we won’t be able to take her."

Keona forcefully pulled Alexis to her feet and began to pull her along with her toward the balcony.

"What are you doing?" Alexis glared at her and snatched her hand back. "I’m not going anywhere with you!"

"Alexis!"

"Keelion is my mate. I’m not leaving him," she snapped. "I’ll be fine. He’s not going to let me die—"

"He won’t, but will that stop anyone from killing you? From assassinating you?" Amora questioned and stormed towards her. She grasped her by the chin. "Listen here, Earla, you are no good for Keelion Fane, not right now. You are not worthy to stand beside him, not right now! Staying here is only punishing him, and you know why? He will do anything for you, and that means turning a blind eye to his people. Do you know what such action will cost him? You will cause his people to doubt him, to talk, to ridicule him and he doesn’t deserve such, you know that."

Alexis flickered her wet lashes. "I don’t know what to do. It’s not my fault that I’m—"

"Yes, it’s not your fault that you’re considered an outcast, but you have a choice here. Come with us, and become someone worthy to stand by Keelion Fane, someone his people will never have the gut to doubt. Or stay here and punish him, until one way or the other, you get assassinated. You better snap out of it."
