The Alpha's Fated Mate Is an Outcast-Chapter 102
Chapter 102: Chapter 102
Althea lifted her gaze to him with a frown and slowly followed his line of sight to find him staring at Alexis who was beaming at him with a kind of look in her eyes.
She already knew what it was.
Her hands balled by her sides with so much anger raging inside of her. But not now, not yet. She will have her time pretty soon to release every bit of it.
Her plans are in motion, and she couldn’t ruin it in any way.
So, she grabbed Keelion’s hand which brought the man’s attention back to her. His expression contorted and he slipped her hand off.
"Don’t touch me," he warned in a voice that only she could hear. "Behave yourself until this is all over."
And then he began to head further down the stairs till he could step onto the platform that had been set up in the foyer, the golden chair situated on it, pure golden and like a throne.
Althea searched for any other seat that could be hers, but there was none and she was more clever than to move over and stand beside Keelion. He didn’t want her and he would humiliate her, because if he did want her, there would have been a glass throne for the Luna, right next to him.
She had no choice but to join the crowd and together in unison, they all bowed deeply to him and straightened up with smiles on their faces.
Just a little more time and this gala will turn into a whole different story, like nothing even Keelion himself had ever seen.
Her malicious smile was subtle, and she didn’t take her eyes off the man that would soon be hers.
"Begin," Keelion permitted as he sat down on the golden chair, not without sighting Lorcan who winked at him.
His face screwed into a frown and he averted his gaze.
Why was Lorcan here? They didn’t hate each other, but Lorcan would never come here simply just to attend the society gala that has nothing to do with him.
The music began playing, violins, pianos, and whatnot, and the guests began to group with each other to dance.
Keelion relaxed in the chair, his legs crossed and he was observing every single guest, those dancing and those who were not. But his demeanor suddenly shifted when he saw Lorcan move. Not just move, but walk straight to Alexis.
He grabbed her hand and pulled her along with him to the very center of the floor where others were dancing happily too.
He spun her around and stopped her body to grab her by the waist and interlock his fingers with hers.
"Dance with me," were his words because Alexis rapidly blinked at him.
Keelion was uncomfortable. The guests had slowed down dancing, some even stopping to watch them. They knew who Lorcan was, and didn’t really expect to see him at another pack’s society gala.
But the real question was, who was the beta that he was dancing with?
"W-what are you doing?" Alexis asked, trying to break out of his grip, but he wouldn’t let her.
Lorcan smirked at her. "Dancing with you. What do you think?" He shoved her away before she could answer and grasped her wrist, pulling her back with a spin into his arms.
"I like provoking my little brother. It’s like a talent I have."
Alexis swallowed shakily. "W-why would you like doing that?"
"Because it’s fun." Lorcan laughed. "Look at his face, don’t you see how pissed off he is despite holding back. It’s satisfying, little bird.:"
Her back stayed pressed against his solid frame while they moved in a rhythm and Alexis peeked at Keelion. He looked like he was losing his mind. The very look in his eyes was murderous and Alexis wouldn’t say she wasn’t afraid.
"Sir, p-please stop. Just let me go."
"He’s marked you, huh?" Lorcan grinned. "I can smell him on you. His mark," he whispered, mouth close to her ears.
Kaelis who was watching this glanced at the look on Keelion’s face and turned his gaze to Augustus who also happened to look at him.
They exchanged looks and Kaelis shook his head at him. Augustus pinched between his brows and made a move to stop whatever Lorcan was trying to stir.
Lorcan threw Alexis up in midair by the waist and the very second her feet met with the floor, he flipped her backward, enough for her to lock eyes with Keelion for a few seconds before she was pulled back up again.
"Let go of me." She glared at the man.
Lorcan wouldn’t though and Augustus had approached closer, reaching out his hand, but then—
"ENOUGH!!" The voice that bellowed was more than rough and the ground beneath their feet vibrated, startling every single soul within that hall.
They all glanced at each other fearfully before even daring to turn their attention towards Keelion.
Alexis bit into her bottom lip, fidgeting with the sides of her pants. He was pissed off and she could feel it very vividly. That was the thing with matebond. When two mates completely mark each other, they can feel the other’s emotion as if it were their own.
Keelion pinched between his brows and rose from his seat. He looked at every single one of the guests within the hall until his gaze stopped on Althea.
For a second, she wondered why he was staring at her. And like that.
"Enough of the dancing. There is an announcement I would like to make," he said.
Now that piqued their interest and some of them even kept back their glasses of wine.
Keelion clasped his hand behind his back, holding himself up and exuding the kind of confidence no one else would ever.
"From today onwards, I do not have a thing called a substitute mate."
People looked at each other. Althea was more confused, oh, but she was optimistic. No substitute mate? Did this mean he was finally going to name her his Luna?
But like this? No ceremony held for her? It made no sense.
"Why, alpha?" someone in the crowd asked.
"Has the alpha found his mate?"
Every other person within that hall was curious as well and Keelion didn’t hold back from responding, "Correct."
"I have found my mate and a substitute mate is what I’m no longer in need of."
A round of applause erupted within the hall. This meant a Luna was something no one needed to worry about anymore.
But then...what about Althea? What will happen to her now?
All eyes fell on her and for a second, Althea felt like she was being swallowed by them. Oh, Keelion, he was mean. Why would he do this to her?
Her hands painfully balled by her side.
"Althea Sofor—" Keelion’s voice sounded, grabbing every attention within that hall. "—From today, no longer has a relationship with me. She’s no longer my substitute mate nor is she in line for the seat of a Luna."
