The Alpha's Fated Mate Is an Outcast-Chapter 101
Chapter 101: Chapter 101
Kaelis stood at the door with Damian welcoming in the guests who were already beginning to pour in.
"Where is Alexis?" he asked.
Damian glanced at him and looked around in search of Alexis.
"Wait, sorry, coming through." Alexis hurried through the crowd, a heavy apologetic smile on her face. She arrived before the two men and breathed out.
Damian slowly turned to look at her.
She was dressed, not as heavily professional as either of them were. The white shirt she had on had its sleeves rolled up slightly. And above it was a fitted black vest buttoned up and adding to the tailored feel of it.
Her patterned tie was tucked inside and below, she simply had a loose-fitting black slack, and a pair of loafers.
His gaze rose to her hair, tied unusually into a low-man bun, a few curls slipping out.
"These guests are not going to think you’re a worker here," Kaelis commented and Damian looked away from her.
She approached closer, taking her spot. "Why?" she asked.
"You rather look like a guest. Where is your suit jacket?"
Alexis slipped into her black gloves and bowed as guests kept pouring in. "I was sweating for some reason," she answered. "Felt suffocating, so I took it off."
Kaelis chuckled softly, and for a second, a very serious look that she didn’t see emerged on his face. But he masked it almost immediately, putting the smile back on.
"Welcome to the alpha’s mansion, I..." Alexis’s words died in her throat as her gaze rose, falling on none other than Lorcan Zarr. He’d stopped at the entrance of the mansion and peered down at her with crimson eyes.
Regardless of knowing he was Keelion’s brother, there was still that dangerous aura about him. Maybe not directed to her, but it was still around him as if a warning to anyone who might dare to fuck with him.
"Welcome to the mansion, the society gala is being held this way," she completed.
Lorcan seemed amused, never once taking his eyes off her. He didn’t move, even under Kaelis and Damian’s scrutiny.
Instead, he reached for Alexis’s right hand and grabbed it. She watched as he slipped off the black glove she had, exposing her thin fingers. While still holding eye contact with her, the man hunched and placed a soft kiss on the dorsal of her hand.
He said, "It is a pleasure to meet you again. You’re even more beautiful than I recall." And he let go, chuckling under his breath as he walked off while running his fingers through the very black strands of his hair, completely the opposite of Keelion.
Alexis flickered her eyes and looked at Kaelis who was staring at her.
"What was that?" Kaelis asked.
"I don’t know."
"What a weirdo," Damian mumbled. The two could only shoot him a look and then proceeded to return to their work.
"Hello, and welcome to the..." Alexis’s words died in her throat and she wanted to look anywhere but at the two people who stood in front of her.
It was her father and Eve.
This wasn’t surprising, because she knew they were going to come. They would without a doubt, but it didn’t mean she was ever still ready to stand at that door and watch them march in.
Regardless, she swallowed the lump in her throat and put a smile on her face. "Hello, and welcome to the alpha’s mansion. The society gala is being held in the foyer and I hope you have a great evening."
Eve stared her down, but she couldn’t care less. The only stare she held was that of her father, and if there was anything in them that made Mr. Ruderth uncomfortable, it was the hatred in those eyes.
Alexis had never looked at him in such a way.
It was filled with so much hostility that he could feel it almost reaching out to strangle him to death right on that very spot.
What in the world was going on?
She looked and felt like a completely different person. The Alexis he knew before was gone—the one he could beat around. No, the Alexis standing before him...if there was anything she had, it was confidence. And he wasn’t sure if it was just the confidence.
She no longer looked frail, but rather...stronger as if she’d gone through some kind of—
"If you could move, sir, that would be very nice," Alexis said, breaking him out of his thoughts. "There are guests behind you." ƒreewebɳovel.com
Mr. Ruderth glanced behind him and acknowledging she was right, he moved further into the foyer with his daughter.
"What is wrong with her, dad?" Eve asked. "She looks different, b-better than she did when she lived with us. I thought she was supposed to be having a hard time here. Why does she look like that...." She frantically batted her eyes, purely filled with confusion.
"I don’t know if glowing is the world I’ll use," her father responded. "But, she’s different, not just physically."
Guests were chatting around with each other, big smiles on their faces. All were in expensive clothing, colorful and making each of them stand out.
A sudden potent scent warped into the foyer and as if they were robots, they fell deadly silent, their eyes flickered and throat bobbing in a swallow.
Keelion Fane. It was the Alpha.
His scent was a kind that could have you sweating out of your clothes—it was incredibly powerful, like nothing any of them had ever found in any other alpha before.
The omegas jealoused Althea for it. Being able to bask in such a scent. His pheromones were a different topic. If he ever released it in here, without a doubt, every single one of the omegas within the room would lose it and pounce on him.
That was how dangerous and intoxicating his pheromones were. They were like aphrodisiacs. Enough to leave one drunk in just a single shot.
Keeelion made his way down the stairs and following beside him was Althea. He was swathed in a purely white suit, one that was in such breathtaking contrast with his snowy hair.
His eyes crossed with Alexis’s for a second and he held it, pausing. Alexis neither looked away, instead, she smiled at him.
