The Alpha's Fated Mate Is an Outcast-Chapter 100
Chapter 100: Chapter 100
Augustus stood in the office staring at Keelion who’d called him in.
"Did you get the supplies?" Keelion asked.
The man nodded and stepped towards the desk, dropping the heavy gift box. "The room has also been set up."
"Good, good, you may leave now."
He turned to leave, but paused, drinking air into his lungs.
"Is there a problem?" Keelion, who’d noticed his reluctance, asked.
Augustus looked at him and bowed slightly.
"Sir...who are the gifts for?"
Keelion seemed to be a bit taken aback by his curiosity, but he did answer, "Alexis. Who else would I waste my time on?" He arched a brow and hummed under his breath, "She apparently likes painting, I wanted to give her that. Why?"
Augustus’s eyes flickered. "You...love her..." It wasn’t a question.
And Keelion didn’t deny it, "Yes, I love her. Is there a problem?"
"No." Augustus shook his head. As much as he wanted to hide it, there was that flicker of sadness in his eyes that Keelion didn’t miss. But what he couldn’t understand was why it was there. Why was he sad? For what reason?
"Augustus—"
"I’ll take my leave now, sir."
"Wait," Keelion didn’t let him. "Tonight...I’m going to have Althea dismissed."
That made Augustus pause and he quickly turned to look at him. "Sir?"
"I know it’s crazy, people will talk and if there is anything you are more worried about, it’s people talking," Keelion said and dropped the fountain pen he held. "Augustus, I just think it’s time for me to let go. I’ve thought this over and over again and Althea really means nothing to me. I love Alexis, I’ve found the person I want genuinely and I don’t want to make her feel like some property I can keep."
He breathed out. "Listen, it doesn’t matter to me that she is an outcast. I don’t care at all about that even though I know people will. It would be hard to make Alexis a Luna, I fully understand that, but that’s okay because I can take it a step at a time. I don’t want to keep her and also keep Althea with me. I could never stomach her with another man, so I can’t do the same to her, do you understand what I mean?"
Augustus blinked rapidly. "Sir—"
"Just speak to me like a friend would. I’m not having this conversation right now with you as my personal man. No." He shook his head. "You’re my only friend, and I need to have this conversation with you."
The man stared at him and slowly nodded.
"It’s a crazy idea, isn’t it?" Keelion chuckled.
Augustus nodded. "Most definitely."
"Would you tell me not to do it?"
"If I told you not to do it, would you listen to me?"
"Not at all."
Both men burst into a chuckle.
Keelion pinched between his brows, shaking his head.
"So, you’re in love."
He turned his gaze to Augustus who’d spoken. He nodded. "As you can see it. It’s a great feeling if that makes any sense. It’s like something I’ve never felt before. Though you wouldn’t understand."
"What makes you think that?" Augustus cocked a brow. "I don’t lack emotions, you know."
"No, you don’t, but you’ve never been in love. Hell, I don’t think you’ve ever looked at anyone romantically."
"That is different. No one has piqued my interest."
"Are you sure?" Keelion arched his brow. "More than half the omegas seem to have quite the interest in you. So that brings me to ask, what is your type?"
Augustus blinked at him.
"Women?"
Keelion folded his arms. "If you like men too, that’s fine." ƒгeewёbnovel.com
Augustus slanted his head with a pondering expression and shrugged. "Personally, I don’t have a particular preference as I don’t look at it. What I care about is personality?"
"Which is?"
"Hm, If they are fun, I won’t ask for more."
Keelion burst into a cackle.
"Why are you laughing, sir? Did I say something funny?"
"Is this because you’re like a robot?"
Augustus blinked at him. "What do you mean? I understand I’m a very boring person with no actual life interest and that’s why I like someone who’s fun because I do like to have fun, but I never know how to." He seemed offended. "You’re not actually any better than me, because you’re not fun either, very unfunny actually."
"Because I called you a robot?"
"No. I’m just being honest. I’ve known you for ten years and you’re not exactly very different from me. That’s why I’m the only friend you have."
"That’s not true." Keelion frowned at him.
"Yes, it is,"
"No, it’s not."
"Yes, it is."
He made a face. "I’m the alpha, I’m not supposed to have friends."
"Then what am I doing here?"
"You’re different."
Augustus stared at him and they peered at each other for a few long seconds before they laughed, throwing their heads back.
"This is refreshing."
"I agree." He nodded. "Will you really do this?"
Keelion met his eyes. "Yes."
"Are you sure about it?" Augustus pressed. "People just won’t talk, it’ll be all over the news, there will be reporters here, all over. And her family...I don’t think they will let it die."
"So what?" Keelion asked. "For the first time, Augustus, I don’t care what anyone has to say. I’m going to keep the woman I love, my mate and I’m going to make her happy in the right way. Just because I’m the alpha doesn’t mean my people will control me. I’ll listen to their words, but the decision at the end of the day will be all mine. Althea is incapable of being my luna."
"How do we avoid too much talk?" Augustus asked.
"We don’t have to," he said. "One thing is, despite all the talk that will come with it, no one, and not one person will actually dare go against me. What I say stands. It’s that simple. I’m going to protect what’s mine."
Augustus nodded and slightly bowed to him. "I’ll see that everything goes smoothly tonight."
"Of course." Keelion half smiled. "Thank you. You’re dismissed."
Augustus left the room and shut the door. He walked away until he was out in a private area, then he plucked out his phone and dialed an unknown number.
[Hello]
"We’ve got to make a change of plan. Keelion is in love with her, he actually wants to keep her and get rid of Althea. I don’t think we should go ahead with this. It’ll break him."
[Augustus, I know that. And getting rid of Althea won’t change a thing. The plan stands. What I’ve told you is the only way to protect Alexis, to save her life. Don’t do anything and please stick to the plan, I beg you]
Augustus was conflicted. He kept silent for a few seconds before eventually relenting.
"Okay, the plan stands."
