Reborn As An Extra In My Own Novel-Chapter 65: Wails Of Agony [2]
Chapter 65: Wails Of Agony [2]
"Tad! Tad! Boom!"
The figure of Reozaki blitzed past a mana beast as blood splattered in all directions, the mana in the air slowly dying down.
"That’s the last of them, right?" Ivy asked, gripping a crystalline wand in her hands.
"Yeah." A certain third year answered as she moved closer to the three first years.
She had brown hair and hazel eyes, a smile curled at her lips as she looked at Reozaki. "I never knew you were that strong, Reozaki."
Reozaki spared her a glance, turned his head, and clicked his tongue.
Ivy laughed awkwardly. "Sorry, Amanda sunbae, Reozaki is a bit shy."
Jisoo shook her head. "Shy doesn’t even begin to explain it."
Waving her hands dismissively, Amanda replied, "Don’t worry, at least he helped us kill the horde of mana beasts."
Both Jisoo and Ivy nodded before they both faced the piles of corpses of both the students and that of the mana beasts.
Their gaze drifted to the students who were both harvesting the mana cores and those that were covering the corpses of the fallen students.
Ivy turned to Reozaki, who leaned on the wall, his katana gripped tightly in his hand. "So Reozaki oppa, what’s the plan?"
Reozaki looked at the three dazzling females for a moment, then turned back to the wall in front of him. "How should I know...?"
Jisoo tilted her head. "Aren’t we just supposed to defeat every demon, drifter, or mana beast in sight? It doesn’t seem that hard."
"Don’t underestimate how strong our enemies are just because of this," Amanda warned.
All Jisoo could do was nod. The hallway was getting less crowded as the other students who weren’t as good in fighting began taking out the corpses.
Ivy took a deep breath. "But you saw it, didn’t you? The spell that was cast was by no means small. It was at least an intermediate-grade necromancy art."
"... It also had demonic miasma in it. That means it was an order, and that of the lust faction of the demonic cult."
The three girls looked at Reozaki, stunned.
"What?" he said, visibly annoyed.
Ivy shook her head. "I didn’t know you were so informed. You usually just play games or talk to cats all day."
Reozaki snapped his face, turning red. "What? No, I don’t! I guess it’s true, but..."
The group around them, including the three girls, laughed a little before Ivy looked through one of the windows from an open class door.
A purple beam of light with a magic circle connecting it from the ground to the sky.
"Let’s move for now. We can find other students while getting information."
The rest nodded in approval of Ivy’s suggestion.
"But what about the princess? She is one of our enemies after all," Jisoo said, folding her arms around her chest. "One thing is that she is a member of the royal family, but that isn’t even the problem..."
They all simultaneously looked at each other.
Rachel, who had opened the entrance door that led to the lab building, was nowhere to be found after the students finished clearing the monsters, which left a massive walking variable in whatever plans they could come up with.
And it wasn’t just her.
The presence of berserk female students that they could sense through each of their barely functional zones.
The mana beast hordes, teachers that were doing unthinkable things to their students, and even the professor who was casting the spell, they were all variables to them.
A male student with blonde curtain hair and blue eyes broke the silence. "I think it would be best to find all the top students of each of year, then try to stop the chaos before it escalates."
The remaining nodded in approval. He was, after all, one of the second year’s top ten.
Eldon Kimberly.
"If what you all said is true, then there might be something interfering with the school’s system or keeping some teachers outside the area of the spell... If not, then there might be other dangerous beings lurking around."
A young man with red hair and pupils that resembled roses walked up to the group while swinging his sword to remove the blood on it.
"Taylor." Eldon called out.
The young man smiled at Eldon, then looked at the other students. He was also one of the second year’s top ten.
"So I think it would be best for us to resolve the current crisis alone. The headmistress might be fighting a high-level demon for all we know." He paused then added, "But if we all join hands, don’t you think we can take down a high-level necromancer and a few mana beasts and drifters?"
Before the remaining could respond, Reozaki voiced out, "I’m against it. Do you guys know how strong they will be? You know we aren’t talking about just an intermediate-grade necromancy, but countless E to C-rank mana beasts, sequence nine to seven drifters, and rogue students."
He paused then screamed, "That’s just suicide! There is no way I’m going!!!"
Amanda felt beads of sweat form on her temples. Only after Reozaki pointed it out did they all realize it wasn’t as easy as they had said. "But did one person actually do it on their own? Maybe there is some kind of off switch to this."
Jisoo placed her hand on her chin. "I think it is one person. I’m one of the most advanced in spirit arts excluding Princess Frieren, and I can say with all certainty that it is one person."
"Deerheart."
The hall went silent. No one could argue with Taylor’s words. Even the first years that had entered only a week ago knew that the professor was fishy, and plus, most of the rogue female students were all people that took his classes.
Taylor broke the silence first. "I think he made a contract with an intermediate-rank demon of the lust faction, then he used the female students’ minds as some kind of catalyst..."
Eldon responded to his claims, "I did hear that a former female companion and some nobles killed his family. Maybe that’s why."
Reozaki tapped his blade on the wall. "I don’t think any of that is important. Whether he contracted with either a low, intermediate, or high-rank demon isn’t our business. What we need to decide is our next course of action."
The remaining stayed silent.
"For now, I think we should wait and send some scouts out. They can bring any student they meet back here and we turn the building into a temporary base."
Ivy looked at Amanda, who was speaking, then at the door. "If we can get Princess Frieren and some of the first years, it would be great."
Taylor then nodded. "I will make the squad of scouts and send them out... So you guys try and get some rest."
For now, they all knew that there was nothing to do but sit, but the uneasiness that crept in their skin hadn’t left even for a minute.
Ivy looked at the sky that was now tinged with purple miasma. ’I hope everyone is alright.’
