Reborn As An Extra In My Own Novel-Chapter 64: Wails Of Agony [1]
Chapter 64: Wails Of Agony [1]
"Haaaaaah!" Neko-sensei exhaled as loudly as she could. "I could really use a cigar right now," she muttered, collapsing onto the ground with a bitter chuckle.
Kelvin struggled to stay upright, but with unsteady steps, he made his way to her side. "You said it." He paused, glanced at the stunning, injured woman, then smiled. "That move of yours never fails to impress me. You weren’t even using full power, were you?"
Neko-sensei scowled. "Kel, what exactly are you after? Flattery won’t get you far."
Kelvin narrowed his eyes. "What makes you think I’m after something?"
Neko-sensei tilted her head. "Aren’t you?"
Looking at her for a moment, he quickly turned away — partly because her bare skin was exposed, and also because she had hit the nail on the head.
He scratched his cheek for a moment, then spoke, his face flushed a deep red. "Well... I was just wondering... Could you leave out the part about me being pathetic in your report?"
Neko-sensei grinned slyly. "Oh, oh... Don’t worry about it, Kel. I’m not that kind of person. I’m a proper lady, remember?"
Kelvin smiled faintly. "Thank..." His joy was short-lived as he saw Neko-sensei rubbing her index finger and thumb together.
He looked at her, and she simply smiled.
’Damn Lisa and her greed.’
After a while, he spoke, gazing at the aftermath of the battle with the demon.
The utterly destroyed area, where not even rubble remained.
The corpse of the demon, which was without a doubt, one of the top-tier members of the lust order of the demonic cult.
And then his eyes wandered to the purple sky that had begun to fade.
"How much do you want?" he finally asked.
Neko-sensei thought for a moment, then nodded with resolve. "Why don’t we make it more interesting... like the old days?"
"Hmm... Go on."
Neko-sensei stretched out her legs and rested her palm on her lap. "You took Reozaki as your disciple, right?"
Kelvin nodded.
"So let’s make a bet. If a first-year resolves this incident, it’ll be my disciple. But if it’s yours, I’ll do whatever you say. If it’s mine, though..." She glanced at him from the corner of her eyes, then smiled.
He swallowed hard and said with confidence, "I won’t lie, your disciple’s smart and resourceful, but that’s where it ends..."
Kelvin pushed himself to his feet, then continued. "You know it too, right? There’s no way he actually beat Matthew — Matthew held back since they’re friends. That means my Reozaki would definitely win."
He coughed, holding back the urge to boast further. "That means my Reozaki would definitely win."
Neko-sensei couldn’t help but chuckle. ’Poor Kel, He thinks Matthew Von Silver held back... That’s kind of adorable.’
After a while, she addressed him. "So, it’s a deal then?"
He nodded without hesitation.
"Don’t regret it. I’ll tell you one thing, though, my kid’s a walking monster. And he just happened to land himself a ridiculously strong, hot master. So just imagine what he’s capable of."
Kelvin’s eyes widened. "You didn’t... did you?" He felt his knee stiffen. "Even you couldn’t handle that technique properly. No offense, but how do you expect a no-name C-rank to even grasp it, let alone use it?"
Neko-sensei held onto Kelvin’s arm and pulled herself up. "Do you know? He learned Kale Zone Technique."
"What?"
She smiled. "Now do you still think he can’t learn it? I told you before, and I’ll say it again... My kid’s a total monster, that’s not even counting his brains or looks."
He sighed and rested her arm on his shoulder. "That’s just pure glaze."
Neko-sensei giggled as they moved out of the battlefield. "Well, I guess you could call it that."
She looked up at the violet clouds. ’He will die in the dimming light of hell and rise again as the prince of both the underworld and the heavens... I suppose even the princess has sharper eyes than most professors.’
Neko-sensei knew there was no need to worry about her disciple.
She could sense when someone was about to leave her, be it through death or other means, and she knew Kai wasn’t going anywhere.
"Maybe I should throw a party for him and his friends after this?"
"What?" Kelvin asked, carrying both his and Neko-sensei’s weight.
"Nothing. I was just thinking how lovely the day is."
He raised an eyebrow, sweat forming on his temple. "Lovely? Did you hit your head during the battle?"
"Shut it."
The area around them still reeked of death. Smoke and flames burned like a furnace all over the academy, but at long last, their battle had ended.
It was a shame she couldn’t do more, but at this point, the kids who would lead the future had to face their first real mission.
----
(Some minutes before Kai’s arrival at the second-year lab)
"That will be all for today everyone. And as I said earlier this will be a very crucial part of your evaluation this semester." The young female professor with a large bottom and a hair that nearly touched her knees addressed the students consisting of both first and second years.
The students nodded in acknowledgment and gathered their books.
The professor, who was about to depart, paused and turned back to the class. "Ivy Lies, Lee Jisoo, and Reozaki Yukino, I thought there was another first year who enrolled in the advanced alchemy class."
Ivy gave a faint smile, her short black hair and green eyes enhancing her lovely face and shape. Most of the male students turned to stare at her, but she paid them no attention.
"Ma’am, he’s not present. Our homeroom teacher said he and a few others were sent on an important assignment."
The professor tilted her head. "First years on an mission? That’s unusual." She paused to assess Ivy’s expression and, realizing she was being truthful, continued. "Well, in any case, remind him to be in class early next time."
The three nodded, but before the professor could reach the door, the entire school building trembled as the sky began to shift to a purple hue.
Tremers running through the building as dust fell from the ceiling.
The students knew without question what had polluted the sky—miasma, and an extremely dense one at that.
Sirens began to blare around the building, but before anyone could comprehend what was happening, terrified screams echoed across the campus.
A certain unknown student approached the window and froze, his body shaking violently.
Reozaki instantly moved with Ivy and Jisoo to see what could cause an aspiring mage to tremble so fiercely.
And just outside the building, right in front of the entrance, was a swarm of high-ranking mana beasts, led by none other than the princess of England and one of Meltonia’s top prodigies.
Princess Rachel Von Silver—but something about her had changed, corrupted.
She looked up at them and grinned broadly, as if she could perceive everything they were doing from the fifth floor behind a dark glass formed from a drifter’s corpse.
Reozaki couldn’t help but return a crooked smile as the princess knocked on the entrance of the lab building using her usual tone to call out.
Ivy shut her eyes as cries and shrieks flooded the entrance, bodies now lay scattered as the princess entered the building.
A second-year student covered his mouth with his hand, desperately trying not to scream. "This can’t be real, right? It has to be a simulation the academy designed, right?"
But it was unmistakably real: The academy had been infiltrated.
