Chapter 189: Elsewhere

"What?" Coco blinked owlishly and stared at Quizen.

The angry mediator looked bashful all of a sudden, his face still carrying the signs of anger, but his energy suddenly different, and his earlier anger seemingly forgotten.

He looked away from the woman before him who had a puzzled look on her face, his cheeks tinged with a light blush, a hint of shyness creeping in.

Quizen did not expect her to leave the man she was with and go to him instead because leaving the man alone on the table and ultimately choosing him over that unnamed man— her unexpected action was making him flustered.

He looked away, his gaze darting around the room, avoiding looking at her directly.

He felt awkward and embarrassed like he was caught red-handed, a feeling he was unaccustomed to, and he had no idea how to react.

Quizen’s body language had shifted, his shoulders slumping slightly as he looked away, now feeling embarrassed by his outburst in a busy place where people were gathered to eat their meal.

He scratched the back of his neck, a nervous gesture, as he avoided her gaze, a small smile playing at the corner of his lips despite his best efforts to hide it.

"I.. I don’t know how to do this, but I’m sure you can guide me, right?" Quizen muttered, swallowing the lump forming in his throat as his gaze shifted from the floor to look at Coco’s face, his blue irises twinkling with something she couldn’t quite name.

"Guide?" Coco’s eyebrows furrowed as she asked him, "What do you mean by guide? Are you in trouble?"

Coco has an idea or two what he meant, but surely, it’s not that, right?

Quizen is the fourth husband of Coco Hughes and seems to hate her guts more than Heiren, but not less than Alhai.

He was clear with his feelings disliking Coco’s entire being that she knows that he may not try to reconcile with her by the time she has enough money to divorce all of them.

He was also the one who throws accusations all over the place and calls her a cheater when all she has done is listen to Ruby when she politely asked Coco, but of course, the male mediator mistook that to be flirting.

However, the Quizen before her looks like he was trying to say something else.

"Trouble..?" Quizen mumbled as a look of confusion etched into his face, "I guess I think I am in trouble.. You did bring me to your room after all."

Coco blinked owlishly.

Just what is he thinking? He’s not thinking what I’m thinking, right..? Coco mused in her mind, shifting on her feet awkwardly and lips parting in surprise.

"I didn’t bring you here because you’re in trouble, Quizen." Coco said, her voice dripping with uncertainty as she stared at his face, her eyes sweeping across his flushed cheeks and plump looking lips.

"Then?" The fourth husband raised an eyebrow, his confused expression not twisting to his usual one.

"I brought you here because I didn’t want you to do something that will make you shy in front of my friend— and yes, the mediator you saw me with is my friend." Coco was quick to explain her side, watching his expression closely.

"Jonathan is the mediator who I befriended recently." Coco added to her previous words and straightened her posture, "If you don’t believe me, you can ask Heiren. He knows who Jonathan is."

She’s saying all of this because she doesn’t want Jonathan to be seen as a homewrecker and possibly have his reputation ruined because of Quizen’s assumptions.

He did show signs of jumping to inaccurate conclusions after all.

The blue haired mediator was silent for a while, his eyes clouded with unsaid thoughts as he stared back at his wife and tried to comprehend what she had just said.

So, Coco brought him to her room to give him privacy before he could say anything ridiculous? So he wouldn’t embarrass himself in front of many people whom he sings to on a daily basis? For his sake?

Quizen felt like he was hallucinating because what? The Coco Hughes he had grown to dislike is doing something nice for his sake?

"And no, Quizen." Coco spoke up and snapped him out of his daze, "I am not cheating nor planning to cheat."

"Huh?"

"I get that the old Hughes Coco Hughes may have done that disgusting thing, but please, don’t lump me with trash like her." Coco said, her voice dripping with light desperation as she raised a hand to rub the bridge of her nose.

From doing so, her white linen shirt scrunched up and revealed her stomach— the smooth and supple skin shining for Quizen’s eyes.

"I bought here to talk to you properly, without having you try to accuse me of cheating so please, let’s have a conversation without you trying to jump to conclusions of me being unfaithful." Coco sighed, pulling her hand away from her face.

She said so many things, but all of those words went from one ear and came out to another because Quizen had his eyes glued to the previously exposed part of Coco’s body.

"I’m not Coco Hughes anymore." Coco said, snapping Quizen out of his daze once more, "But I’m doing my best to be responsible and give four of her husbands the life they deserve."

Quizen dragged his gaze back to Coco’s face, his eyes blinking rapidly in surprise.

"So, can you please cut me some slack and not accuse me of cheating whenever you see me talk to someone during dinner? I’m a married woman. I won’t cheat on you or the other husbands." Coco sounded so tired of him and he could tell.

However, his eyes wandered off and drifted back down to her body, stopping at the soft looking sizes on her chest— shaking slightly as she shifted in her feet.

"Quizen?" Coco finally noticed that his mind seems to be elsewhere.
