Chapter 187: Dinner with Jonathan [3]

The roasted pork belly was a sight to behold, the skin golden and crispy, the flesh beneath soft and tender.

Jonathan only took the first bite with reluctance, but as soon as the piece of pork touched his tongue, his eyes went as wide as saucers.

The meat was juicy and flavorful, making the fat having rendered perfectly in the roasting process known with its rich aroma and fragrant, the scent of the meat wafting up and filling the air.

The skin was crispy and crackled under his teeth with every bite, the crunchy exterior contrasting perfectly with the tender and juicy meat.

The taste was rich and complex— a combination of salt, pepper, and seasonings that he couldn’t quite name made the meat taste sweet and savory, the flavor leaving a lasting impression on the tongue.

"It tastes amazing." Jonathan felt so awestruck towards the taste of the roasted pork.

He had never expected that someone could be so talented and good at cooking a flying pig! He has been staying in the village for a while now and he already knows that he has not explored the village’s local shops and stores.

He didn’t find the need to do so when he first arrived, but now that he has a friend he could invite, why not?

Coco watched the mediator eat the roasted pork belly, her gaze focused on his face, her eyes tracing every movement he made.

She saw his fingers grip the meat, feeling the crispy skin and juicy flesh as he ate, his jaw was moving, his mouth full of the roasted pork belly, the meat disappearing into his mouth.

She watched the way Jonathan’s jaw moved, the way his muscles flexed beneath his skin as he chewed, the way his adam’s apple bobbed in his throat as he swallowed— she found herself entranced by the sight, her eyes fixated on his every move.

Despite her efforts to look away, she found herself unable to tear her gaze away, finding a strange sense of pleasure in watching him eat the fatty meat.

She watched him eat, noticing the way his cheeks moved as he did so, his expression one of pure pleasure and satisfaction, and she couldn’t help, but smile at the sight, amused by his obvious enjoyment of the food.

"Woah.. Look at the way he eats." The garden fairy commented, whispering to Coco’s ears as she watched Jonathan swallow bite after bite.

Of course, Coco ate the roasted pork belly as well, her own fork and spoon making short work of the meat.

She savored the taste, the flavor rich and complex, the meat tender and juicy and the fat melted in her mouth, the texture of the meat pleasing and satisfying.

It was just like the first time she had eaten the roasted pork belly of the Red Horse Inn.

The heat and the taste of the meat brought a flush to her cheeks, the taste and texture both familiar and enjoyable as she ate silently, her focus on the food her attention divided between the food and the mediator across from her.

"Give me a small piece of the pork, please." Lala asked nicely, flying down to the table and standing on her feet.

Coco did what the fairy wanted, slicing a piece of the meat and separating it from the rest of her food, moving it to the corner of the plate.

She grabbed the cup which was filled with orange juice and covered the spot where she pushed the small piece of pork.

"Thank you!" Lala did not miss a beat to express her gratitude towards her friend and ushered herself closer to the corner of the plate, her eyes twinkling with delight.

Coco smiled softly as she continued to eat the rest of the roasted pork, her eyes stealing glances at the man sitting across from her every now and then, just checking if he’s still enjoying his food.

She found herself mesmerized by his scarred features, her mind wondering why he was still not married or dating when he clearly has looks as she ate.

The food was delicious, reminding her that every bite was worth the long wait.

Coco finished the roasted pork, her plate scraped clean of the fatty meat and crispy skin as she leaned back in her chair, a sense of satisfaction washing over her, her stomach pleasantly full.

She let out a content sigh, her gaze straying back to the mediator sitting across from her who was doing the same thing as her.

She wiped her mouth with the napkin given to her by Joachim, her eyes still flickering to her friend intermittently, the corner of her lips curling up when she caught his gaze.

"Did you enjoy the food?" Coco asked with her already knowing the answer.

Jonathan brightened up after the question, roasted pork, his mood improved visibly, his face relaxing and a small smile forming on his face as he leaned back in his chair, taking a deep breath.

Like Coco, he also felt a sense of satisfaction after eating, his belly full and his worries far from his mind at that moment.

He looked lazily over at his friend across from him, his gaze soft and warm.

"I did." Jonathan answered with a genuine smile which also looked like he was guilty, "The meal tastes so good that I ended up just eating the whole thing and not striking up a conversation with you. I’m sorry."

Coco laughed and shook her head. "As long as you enjoyed the food. That’s all that matters."

Jonathan could only laugh along, satisfied for the night and doesn’t feel embarrassed or nervous anymore— completely forgetting about the fact that he has a scheduled lunch tomorrow.

"We still have to eat the fruits I ordered." Coco hummed out as she blinked, "I guess they were waiting for us to finish our meal."

In the distance, Coco could see Ruby approaching them with a tray..

.. And trailing behind was an upset Quizen.
