New World with Four Husbands-Chapter 175: A good friend
Chapter 175: A good friend
"Have you been feeling uncomfortable since we stepped foot inside the shop?"
The question was direct because Coco doesn’t want to invalidate Jonathan’s discomfort and accidentally send him running away.
Jonathan is her friend after all.
Jonathan shot a glance in Coco’s way, his lips forming a straight line as he nodded his head slowly.
"Slight.. I just got nervous because they are your friends.. But it’s okay, I don’t mind at all." Jonathan said, his voice calm and quiet as he smiled at her to assure her.
Coco’s face twisted as she frowned. "I’m so sorry, Jonathan. I should have known that it would make you uncomfortable. It’s my fault. I forced the meet up on you— and don’t even say that it was not, because I know that it was."
Coco was so excited to introduce Jonathan to Renaldo and Jacques because she thought that they could bond together.
Coco let out a sigh, regretting her decision.
"It’s alright, Coco." Jonathan raised a hand and placed it on Coco’s head, patting her hair gently as he kept the smile on his face, "I know that it was because you wanted me to meet good people.. And I appreciate the fact that you wanted me to meet your good friends."
Coco’s frown didn’t relent and only deepened as Jonathan tried to reassure her.
"Still, I shouldn’t have been forceful about it." Coco mumbled, letting Jonathan caress her head like how brothers would do to their younger siblings— affectionately and full of reassurance.
Jonathan hummed and pulled his hand away, clutching the basket with both hands once again.
"It’s really okay." He assured her with the best of his ability, feeling quite bad that Coco was beating herself up about it even though he was the one who didn’t refuse.
He was curious to see what her friends looked like so he didn’t say any words of protest.
When he did see one of her friends, he felt like he was struck by lightning and felt his heart racing due to how beautiful she was.
I wanted to have her babies right then and there. Jonathan thought to himself as he looked away from Coco.
It was the first time that he had seen someone as beautiful as Jacques and felt like his breath got taken away when they first locked eyes— it was as if she had taken his ability to breathe oxygen just by a mere glance.
To be honest? She actually did take his breath away.
It’s embarrassing how much I wanted to have a married woman’s baby. Jonathan added to his train of thoughts, his eyebrows furrowing in embarrassment.
The village of Yogusho may have a few married couples who have multiple spouses, but that was only because they were not from the village in the first place— the villagers only have one or two spouses because they don’t have the money to provide for more than one.
There’s no law that says that men or women can’t take mediators as spouses if they can’t provide for them, but they are usually put in a bad light if they do.
Jonathan has been in the village for as long as he remembers, but he doesn’t stay that long in the village because he would travel between the main city to the Yolo Village to do odd jobs.
He has a house in Yogusho Village because it was what was left to him by his parents, but he doesn’t really stay in it for too long.
He had just got back from the city of Archensheen when he decided to settle down in Yogusho Village for good, which was the decision he made a month ago, before he accepted the final request from Coco’s second husband, Heiren.
He had been friends with Coco for almost a month now and she was nothing, but a good friend to him.
So, he knows that Coco did not mean any harm when she wanted to introduce him to her other friends— who he found very attractive— and wanted them to get along with each other.
Coco wanted them to be friends.
That’s why.. He can’t help, but feel guilty at the fact that he almost desired a married woman with a friendly mediator.
Jonathan’s grip on the basket tightened. "I know that your friends are good people, but I was just really nervous earlier.. Don’t worry, I’ll try to make time tomorrow to meet them properly."
"What?" Coco gasped and grabbed Jonathan’s arm, "You don’t have to! If you’re not comfortable at the thought of being alone with them, then it’s okay! I’ll just tell them that you’re not available!" freēwēbnovel.com
Jonathan’s expression softened, a grateful look crossing his eyes as he watched Coco assure him.
"It’s really okay." Jonathan laughed quietly under his breath, "I told you, didn’t I? They seem like good people so I want to see if I can be friends with them, too."
Coco blinked and shut her mouth, her head bobbing up and down as she slowly let go of Jonathan’s arm.
".. If your mind changes, then tell me, okay? I’ll come to your rescue. Just because Renaldo and Jacques are my friends, doesn’t mean they can be friends with my other friend." Coco sighed out and turned back to the path ahead of her.
"You’re a very good friend, Coco." Jonathan smiled.
"I’m not." Coco disagreed with a shake of her head, "I’m just doing what I think is right."
"Which makes you a good friend." Jonathan insisted and chuckled, making Coco frown and shoot a playful glare on his way.
"Whatever." Coco didn’t say any rebuttal and just rolled her eyes, "Anyway, why don’t you go back home and drop off the basket first? I’ll come and pick you up once I’m done talking with Mrs. Tani."
Jonathan nodded his head. "Sounds like a plan."
"Great." Coco smiled softly and waved at him as she turned right, "I’ll see you in a bit Jonathan!
"Have fun, Coco." Jonathan returned the wave.
