Chapter 162: A delicious dinner

The woman walked down the street, her steps light and almost springy, an obvious skip in her steps.

She seemed happy and excited, carefree in a way that belied the danger she had just posed in the prison, her head bobbed up and down in time to an unheard beat, her feet barely staying on the ground as she moved.

It was as if she were skipping along to the song that only she could hear, her feet moving lightly, almost as if she was dancing as she made her way down the street.

Her face was set in a cheerful expression with her cheeks rosy red from the brisk walk and the cool breeze, but despite any cold bite of the air, she did not seem to notice, seeming unbothered by the evening air.

"Oh lei, oh lai, oh lei, oh lai, oh~" She sung a little tune to herself, under her breath which was a give away that her spirits were clearly lifted.

"He will slay you with His tongue, oh lei, oh lai, oh Lord~" She hummed out, feeling incredibly happy.

She felt like she wasn’t in the dumpster the whole day and couldn’t stop skipping her way to the Red Horse Inn with a large smile on her face— seriously, she should have just paid a visit before she went out to the forest.

She felt so much better than she was feeling this morning!

The singing and skipping woman arrived at the inn, her feet still dancing a merry dance on the dirty and hard ground underneath.

She paused for a moment, her gaze skimming over the exterior of the inn, her face lighting up in recognition, then she pushed open the dark oak door, the sound of laughter and chatter reaching her ears as soon as she stepped inside.

The noise and commotion from the people immediately enveloped her, her eardrums assaulted by the sounds of boisterous laughter, clinking glasses, and loud conversations.

"There seems to be a lot more people tonight." The garden fairy spoke up from Coco’s hair, "But I can smell the food!"

Coco hummed and agreed to Lala’s outburst as shewalked through the inn’s lobby before she entered the pub, the noise growing louder as she stepped into the room.

The room was sure spacious, the tables and chairs arranged in a loose circle around a large makeshift stage in the the other side of the room where she found the blue haired mediator singing.

She was quick to look away from Quizen’s form and started to look for her usual table.

The air was thick with the scent of beer and ale, the people around her laughing and talking loudly, but despite the chaotic atmosphere, Coco walked with a skip on her step, her eyes scanning the room for the pink haired man.

Thankfully, the man she was looking had just got out of the kitchen and met her wandering gaze.

"Coco!" Joachim greeted her and waved an enthusiastic hand towards her way as he beamed brightly at her, his eyes twinkling with delight.

"Joachim." Coco greeted back with the same energy.

It made the man gasp and stare at her with wide eyes for brief moment before he started smiling again, grabbing Coco’s hands as soon as she halted in her tracks before him.

"You’re back!" Joachim exclaimed, a pleased expression on his face.

"Like I never left." Coco shot a grin at him and squeezed his hands reassuringly, "I was just feeling under the weather since last night so I was a jerk to you this morning. Please forgive me."

Joachim’s expression softened a little and he returned the reassuring squeeze, "It’s alright. You don’t have to be so formal with me— I want to be friends with you after all, and friends isn’t formal with each other, right?"

Coco hummed softly and nodded her head, "Yes, they aren’t, but we’re still getting to know each other so.."

Joachim’s eyes lit up, as if he remembered that she told him she can’t be friends with him until her debt is fully paid so people wouldn’t talk shits behind his back.

"Oh, yes, yes, yes— I understand." Joachim was quick to let go of Coco’s hand and smiled, "Don’t worry, I’ll hold the end of our bargain and won’t cross the line until you’re done paying your debt."

Coco released a sigh of relief through her nose before she nodded her head, "Thank you."

"Don’t thank me." Joachim laughed under his breath and turned around, "I’ll go and inform En that you’re back, he has been preparing your dinner ever since I told him that you’ll have your dinner here."

Coco couldn’t stop the smile from emerging to her lips.

Just the thought of the scary and big man who was in charge of cooking has been nothing, but excited to serve her dinner was adorable for her.

"That would be great." Coco said and nudged her head to her side, "I’ll be on my usual table."

"Okay!" Joachim flashed her another cheerful smile before he disappeared to the kitchen doors, making Coco turn away and walk to the table she usually sat into.

"I can’t wait to have a bite of the tonight’s dinner!" A certain fairy squealed, "The chef knows how to cook! I’m excited!"

Coco laughed under her breath at the fairy’s outbursts and shook her head, finding Lala’s antics adorable beyond words could describe.

It didn’t take long for Joachim to come out of the kitchen while carrying a tray with Ruby trailing behind him.

"Here’s your meal." Joachim said as he placed the tray down to the table, "En prepared it with love and a lot of prayers of appreciation— he said he was please to see that the meat today was fresh like it was taken down just an hour ago."

"Aww, please tell him you’re welcome." Coco smiled and picked up the wooden utensils, "And again, thank him for serving another delicious dinner."

Joachim chuckled. "That, I will do."
