Chapter 159: A quick conversation

"She’s strong.." One of the men said, eyeing Coco’s back as she walked out of the cell.

They were too scared to move from their spot on the corner when the unnamed woman did not think twice about breaking their boss’ wrist like it was a small piece of twig she found in her walk from the forest.

"Did you see how she opened those bars like it was nothing?" One of them whispered under his breath, his hands shaking as he tucked it on his chest.

"She bent those metal like it was just a piece of paper— that alone tells me that she’s too strong!" Another one exclaimed, burying himself further into the huddled pile and shaking harder like his other friends.

"I thought that we were just hallucinating when we got taken down by a woman, but turns out, we’re not." Another mumbled and frowned.

"That only means that she’s an actual woman and not a mediator." One of the men said, his eyebrows furrowed in realization as he his teeth chewed on his lower lip to stop himself from shaking.

"And those beautiful mediators we saw in the forest are her husbands.." Another muttered and glared at the ground.

"We should have stopped the boss when he told us that he wanted to have some fun with them." A groan of regret came from one of them, burying his face in his hands as he let out a sigh through his nose.

"But we didn’t and now, look at where that got us." Another groan came from the group, making the rest release a sigh of defeat.

"Where do you think she went with the boss..? " The smallest of the group questioned.

"Why would you think that we have an idea? We’re all locked up in here." Someone answered, but the man couldn’t tell who it was, "But it would be preferable if she doesn’t come back her—"

The men had been quietly discussing amongst themselves, their voices hushed and urgent, but suddenly, they heard the sound of footsteps echoing throughout the prison’s corridor.

Their conversation was immediately cut short, they turned their attention to the sound, their eyes widening as they heard the footsteps growing closer— the sound echoed ominously through the prison.

"Is.. Is that her..?" Came a shaky question from a cowering man.

Tap.

Tap.

Tap.

The sound of loud footsteps continued echoing through the prison corridor, each step reverberating through the stone cell, sharp and clear, like an impending doom looming over their heads.

The men froze in their spots, their attention was solely glued to the direction of the sound with their eyes wide and wary.

The men watched, their hearts pounding in their chests as the woman, who had beaten them up and broke their boss’ wrist as if it was nothing, turned the corner at the end of the corridor.

Their fear and dread increased tenfold, their minds no doubt trying to think of a way to escape her sight.

Unfortunately for them, there was nowhere to run, nowhere to hide, the prison walls closing them and trapping them in like a group of birds trapped in a cage.

Coco approached the cell with slow, even steps, her pace calm and unhurried.

She walked without any sense of urgency, her body language relaxed— almost as if she was content and confident— despite the fact that she was approaching the cell, she didn’t look like she cared if they were watching her or not.

As Coco approached, her footsteps echoing loudly, the only sound in the otherwise silent hallway, the corner of her lips suddenly curled up into a friendly smile and flashed it at the men.

Her expression was completely different from the intimidating and fierce expression she had shown earlier when she took down their boss, instead replaced by a surprisingly friendly and almost gentle look.

Is she trying to deceive them?

The men could only wonder and do nothing, but watch in terror as she drew nearer, every step bringing her closer to their inevitable doom.

Coco, on the other hand, only smiled at the men, plastering a warm, almost sweet expression on her face so they wouldn’t be scared of her and would answer her question regarding the main city.

However, the contrast was too much for the men, even though her eyes seemed to soften and her body language became less threatening, the men were still wary, their eyes still darting around as if searching for something to protect themselves.

Despite the fact that she had beaten them barely a week before, her smile was warm and inviting, her eyes fixed on them with an air of almost playful amusement.

It was a chilling display, but they could never forget her earlier display of strength and brutality against their boss.

All of them flinched in their spot when Coco stopped in front of the cell and hummed, her gaze sweeping over the cowering men.

"Why do you guys look so scared?" Coco asked, tilting her head as she feigned a confused expression.

"You’re hurting my feelings here, you know? I even went as far as taking your little boss to get treated." Coco sighed out as her gloved hand gripped the iron bars, yanking them open with a loud screech of metal.

The men’s eyes widened in fear and shock as she effortlessly breached their prison once more, their thoughts racing as they tried to come up with a plan to stop her.

The men watched in horror, their hearts pounding in their chests as Coco entered the cell with a measured and slow step while the sound of the metal bars clattering rang throughout the cell.

They swallowed thickly, shaking like leaves as Coco approached their makeshift table and chairs.

"So, as I have said before, I want to have a quick conversation." Coco said, plopping herself down on the chair and settling herself comfortably in her spot.

"Would all of you mind entertaining this lady’s questions?"
