New World with Four Husbands-Chapter 158: Thugs [4]
Chapter 158: Thugs [4]
Was it because she wasn’t feeling herself today?
Coco wondered about the cause of her indifference in her mind, her eyes glued to the man that was still writhing in agony as he cradled his broken wrist— that she broke without hesitation.
Coco raised a hand and scratched the back of her head, looking away from the man for a moment.
Has she gone too far?
She thought about how she avoided violence at all costs back on earth and would always choose the most peaceful option from her choices just to avoid trouble, the mere thought of it making her want to cry.
She had always hated causing any kind of trouble because she didn’t want to put any more burden on her big sister’s and mother’s load.
They have to endure so much so all she could do is be on her best attitude outside the house.
Coco hummed and shifted her gaze back to the crying man inside the cell, his cries and prayers piercing her ears quite annoyingly which makes her want to put him to sleep just to stop him from making any sound.
Her eyes went wide for a second as she realized what kind of thought crossed her mind just now.
Oh, fuck.. That was such a bad thing to think of. Coco scolded herself and frowned, staring down at the man who started to hyperventilate.
"Do any of you know if someone could die from a broken wrist or from crying too much?" Coco asked the men who were huddled on the corner, shaking like leaves as they watched their boss cry in front of her.
She stared at them like they were little children afraid of her, her eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
"It’s either someone will answer now or he’ll die from whatever’s happening to him right now." Coco said, giving them another chance before she took the matters in her own hands. freёnovelkiss.com
When she still didn’t receive a response, she released a sigh through her nose.
She slipped the gloves on her hands that she had been holding since she left her room in the inn, the leather material fitting snugly on her hands.
[ Passive skill, (Strength), has increased! ]
She hummed softly as she flexed her fingers, feeling the soft leather slide over her skin, the gloves hugging the contours of her hands perfectly with her eyes glancing at the scroll that appeared before her momentarily.
Coco clenched her hands into fists, the gloves molding to the shape of her fingers, the leather creaking with each movement.
"Excuse me for the intrusion." Coco said, her voice loud enough for the other men to hear, which made all of them confused, their eyes having a mixture of confusion in them.
Coco stepped forward and grasped the metal bars of the cell, her glove-covered fingers wrapping around the cold metal.
There was a moment of silence and then all of a sudden, the metal bars creaked and groaned under her touch as she pushed gently on the bars, and with a screech, they bent outward, separating with surprising ease.
Coco stepped through the gap, her face blank and void of emotion as she approached the wounded man.
The sudden movement and display of strength shocked the men into momentary silence, their eyes widening in disbelief at the sight of the supposedly impenetrable metal being torn apart like a wet paper towel.
Just how strong is she?
With seemingly no effort at all, she simply pulled the bars apart— the metal bending and breaking with an almost effortless ease! How could she do that and not show any sign of struggle?!
The men huddled in the corner, their eyes wide in fear as they watched Coco grab their boss without any sign of effort, lifting him off the floor and flinging him over her shoulders as if he weighed no more than a sack of potatoes.
His weight was insignificant to her, her small yet incredibly strong frame easily bearing the heavyweight of the struggling man.
Once more, the men were flabbergasted at the display of Coco’s raw strength.
"I’ll come back for all of you." Coco said, glancing at the huddled men in the corner with a soft and friendly smile on her face, "I have questions to ask and you will answer them, okay?"
They cringed in fear when they saw her smile, their eyes wide with terror as they tried to make themselves as small as possible.
Coco hummed, satisfied with the reaction she received.
Then, she turned around and exited the cell, bending the metal bars back into place before she walked through the corridor, away from the cell.
The man on her shoulders squirmed and wailed in protest at being manhandled in such a humiliating manner, the discomfort of the position making him cry harder and beg for mercy.
"Please! I won’t do those things to anyone ever again!" The man pleaded, still cradling his broken wrist.
"You better." Coco replied, the smile on her face vanishing.
The walk towards the door of the prison was a short one and when she walked out of the building, her eyes catching the horrified faces of the guards when they saw her strutting out made her smile go back to her face.
"M-Mrs. Hughes!" One of the guards shrieked.
They ran at her in full speed, looking pale and sweating profusely as they fussed over her.
"Don’t worry." Coco assured them as she dropped the man on the ground and him landing on the ground with a loud thump, "He’s fine. Just a broken wrist and all. It was his fault though because he tried to attack me."
The guards couldn’t say anything and merely assisted the man off the ground.
"Have that thug’s wrist get looked at, okay? I’m hoping that I didn’t squeeze his wrist that much because if I did.. Then, I may as well do the same to the other wrist." Coco said with a smile.
Cue to the man crying again.
