New World with Four Husbands-Chapter 138: Rogue.. Kairo.. Who?
Chapter 138: Rogue.. Kairo.. Who?
"Young master.." Kairo mumbled under his breath, following behind Coco slowly as he kept his gaze down on the ground.
Ever since Rey had told him that he needs to stop insulting Coco and Jacques, he has been out of it and has been walking around the picnic area aimlessly. freewebnσvel.cøm
Coco had been asked by Jacques to help the man out and go with him somewhere to clear his mind so she had no choice, but to lead him away from the river because Rey wouldn’t stop throwing worried glances on his way.
Right now, she leads him around and has been walking in circles, which she found hilarious that Kairo had not noticed just yet.
He had also been muttering the same two words multiple times now, slowly driving Coco into insanity.
If it weren’t for Lala talking her ears off and distracting her from Kairo’s mumblings, then she would have shoved a rag inside of Kairo’s mouth by now to shut him up.
".. Then I found those big buildings with television in it displaying something delicious! At first, I thought I was dreaming, but no! Those marinated roasted pork really do get made depending on the person who cooks!" Lala exclaimed.
She’s telling Coco about how she found out that people had different ways to cook one dish depending on the household and it seems like it was a shocking experience for her.
Coco hummed, letting Lala know that she was still listening.
Thus the continuation of Lala rambling about Coco’s world and telling her about the things she found fascinating.
It took them almost twenty minutes of walking around before she heard Kairo’s footsteps coming into a half, making her stop in her tracks and look over her shoulder to see what he was up to.
Lala had also stopped talking when she noticed that the human trailing behind them had grown quiet.
Kairo’s purple eyes were still looking down when Coco glanced at him, but his gaze shifted from the ground to her eyes when she looked at him and stared at her with an unreadable expression on his face.
Coco blinked. "What? Why are you looking at me like that now?"
She turned around to face him fully and raised an eyebrow, "Are you done? Can we go back now? Or do you still want to continue and walk around to clear your head?"
Kairo stared at her for a good moment and didn’t say anything, but started walking again.
Coco watched him quietly and waited for him to pass by before she started walking as well, trailing off behind him, making sure to keep an eye out just in case he starts to do something.. Strange.
The walk went on for another ten minutes to which Lala and Coco stayed quiet to make sure that they kept a close eye on him.
Then, all of a sudden, he stopped and turned around to face her, the same unreadable expression on his face.
Coco stopped walking, too.
She was six steps away from him so the distance between them made him stare at her and her, staring back at him with a puzzled expression.
Just what is wrong with him? Coco thought to herself, slowly turning her head away and keeping her gaze at him, ultimately giving him a side eye before looking around to check if they were still at the picnic area’s perimeter.
"You." Kairo spoke up and caught Coco’s attention almost immediately, making her eyes snap back at him.
"Yes? Me..?" Coco blinked and pointed a finger at herself.
"Yes, you." Kairo grumbled and frowned, "Who are you? You’re not Coco Hughes, are you?"
Coco felt her heart race at the question, but she tried her best to keep her expression as confused as she could to throw him off because the fact that he’s asking her who she is makes her nervous.
"What do you mean?" Coco retorted back with a frown, "I’m Coco, am I not? Or have you also lost your mind when Rey ate that chocolate sandwich?"
"I didn’t lose my mind!" Kairo snapped, but a look of horror crossed his face before he cleared his throat and straightened his posture, "I mean, I didn’t lose my mind. I’m perfectly fine, but are you?"
"Likewise." Coco crossed her arms and made her displeasure known, "Accusing me of not being me sounds like you lost your mind to me."
Although, in fact, he was right.
She’s not Coco Hughes, but Coco Coison and she would scream that out loud to people if it weren’t for the fact that she might get eradicated as soon as she did so.
Can’t risk my life like that just yet. Coco mused in her mind and kept her gaze at the man a few feet away from her.
"No, I’m quite sure that you’re not the Coco I know." Kairo insisted with furrowed eyebrows, "Coco promised that she will take me in after the plan to get out of the manor was completed."
Coco’s body grew stiff and her eyes went wide.
"She told me that she will take responsibility." He added on to his previous statement with a look of sadness in his beautiful pair of purple eyes, "Or was the rumor true? That you have turned to become the worse version of you?"
".. I.. Haha, I think we need to get back." Coco laughed nervously and looked away, "I bet that they’re waiting for us."
"No." Kairo refused and walked away from her to go to a tree with a particular nice shade, "I won’t go anywhere unless you tell me what happened for the past four years."
What the fuck? Four years? Did he expect Coco to not change aggee four fucking years? Coco grumbled in her thoughts and trailed behind the man, her frown deepening as she watched him plop down on the ground.
Coco decided to go straight to the point.
"I don’t remember you nor the promise you were talking about."
