New World with Four Husbands-Chapter 121: New mediator in town
Chapter 121: New mediator in town
"I heard from that woman in the butcher shop that you will not be helping them after this." Heiren spoke up after being silent for a while.
Coco blinked, lifting her head up from the bed to look at the wall in front of her.
"No.. I take back what I said, I have to help them out somehow because they will be busy." She hummed out, the tears in her cheek turning dry and leaving trails on their wake since she wasn’t crying anymore.
"You have to take it easy." Heiren stated, tying the ends of the white bandage before backing away from Coco and looking at his handiwork.
"I’ll take it easy." Coco assured him and let out a sigh, "I just have to move around a little, I won’t be carrying heavy things that may reopen my wounds so I’ll probably just do errands here and there."
"That’s not what I meant." Heiren stated, his eyebrows furrowing in concern, "I’m telling you that you should stop working for today and take it easy for the next three days."
Coco’s head snapped to the side so she could look at Heiren over her shoulders. "Three days?! That’s a lot of opportunities wasted! I can’t stay in bed for three days and not go out there! My main source of money is the monsters!"
Zaque scoffed at what he heard. "Then bring someone else with you who would be able to carry those monsters."
"But no one is as strong as I am!" Coco exclaimed, slamming her palm down on the mattress and frowning at the two mediators who were looking at her with strange looks in their eyes.
"What? You think I’m kidding? News flash! I’m actually serious!" Coco huffed out, puffing her chest out at the absurdity of the situation.
Isn’t it obvious that she’s stronger than normal people in this world? Don’t they know that she could carry a lot of things and not get tired nor feel how heavy it was due to how strong she is?
She may be boasting, but it’s all true!
The red haired mediator sighed and shook his head. "You should have been extra careful out there then. I know I’m in no shape to say this because I don’t hunt, but the least you could do is not get hurt."
"What do you mean that you’re not in shape to say anything about her being stupid? Of course, you are! We’re her husbands!" Heiren exclaimed, his eyes narrowing into a light glare towards Zaque who merely looked away from him.
"I have said this a hundred times and it seems like I will have to say it again—" Zaque was about to say that Coco Hughes is not their wife anymore, but Heiren cut her off.
"But she’s not our wife anymore? Yeah, right! As if!" Heiren scoffed and crossed his arms, "If she wasn’t, then she would have scrambled to get away from me the moment I undressed her to clean her wounds! No woman would allow other people see their naked body unless they’re married!"
"Ha! Says who? Nudity is art back in my world, in my university and I have become one of their models!" Coco interjected, clearly missing the point of the argument, but wanted to feel included.
"But that doesn’t mean that she is our wife." Zaque stated, sighing weakly under his breath as he ignored Coco’s outbursts— not that he could fully understand it.
What is a university? A model? Are those things edible? Zaque wanted to ask, but he felt like he would be stepping on a line that Coco wouldn’t want anyone to cross unless she had given them the permission to do so.
"Are you rejecting Coco as our wife now?" Heiren frowned at him, picking up the bowl and standing up from his chair.
"That’s not what I meant—"
The two mediators kept arguing with each other again, making Coco drone the rest of the conversation out of her head, her mind going back to the good old days of her highschool and all the shits she pulled with her high school friends.
She kind of miss them, but she’s not living in earth anymore, right? She should just keep reminiscing about them and don’t let the feeling of sadness consume her.
Sighing quietly, she buried her head in her arms and refuses to think about them anymore because thinking about the people she had known back in her world always make her feel upset and yearn for them.
Lala could feel that her human friend is getting sad, just like how she became whenever she gets back to her room after a busy day.
"He knows his things, Coco! Look! He’s finally done with your wounds!" Lala announced, raising her voice loudly so she could get Coco’s attention and erase whatever thought she has on her mind that’s making her feel sad. freewebnσvel.cѳm
Thankfully, it worked.
Coco suddenly raised her head, her eyes wide in surprise and beamed at the fairy before she lifted herself up, rolling her shoulders and massaging her neck.
"Thanks, Lala! Now, I can help Jacques and Renaldo!" Coco hummed softly, walking over to the table to pick up her robe.
Lala smiled sadly as she watched the woman dress herself, seeing that Coco was acting like everything is normal for her and that she wasn’t feeling sad just a moment ago made Lala feel guilty altogether again.
Coco may not look like it, but Lala knows that it’s taking toll on her nowadays.
"Come on, you two! Stop arguing!" Coco exclaimed towards the mediators with a huff, "I heard that there’s an important guest today. Are you two not planning to greet them like everyone else?"
"You’re planning to greet them when you’re hurt?" Zaque asked, turning to her with a worried expression.
"Just for a bit." Coco smiled at him, "I’ll also help Jacques and Renaldo for a while."
"I thought I told you to take it easy?!"
