Chapter 120: Tears and treatment for a potato head
"Ow! Ow! Ow!" Coco cried, whimpering as she buried her face in her bed.
"Stop moving and let me treat your wounds properly!" Heiren hissed, his eyebrows furrowed in both annoyance and worry as he dabbed the cotton in the water.
Coco could only let out another sob as a response, her body flinching whenever the liquid stings her wounds.
"I don’t like this man, but he’s right, Coco! You need to stop moving and let him treat you properly!" The fairy whined, her face twisting into a frown as she winced slightly when Coco let out a cry.
"It stings!" Coco sobbed, her hands tightening against the bedsheets and gripping them without remorse.
"Of course it would sting! They are bleeding and deep enough that they might need stitches! Why would you even carry that damn basket in your back and leave it like this for hours?!" The second husband exclaimed, dabbing the newly wet cotton on the wounds.
Coco’s face lost its color once again when she felt the liquid seeping through her wounds, making her squeeze her eyes shut.
"Because it was not that bad earlier..! Ow! I’m sorry!" Coco whimpered, apologizing for the nth time that afternoon.
The sun was barely down, but she’s already crying her heart’s out as Heiren treats her wounds— she can’t see her own wound because all of them were on her back, but due to how much they sting, she could tell that it was a lot.
They did not sting when she was sweating! How can they be so many and how can she not be aware of them?! freewebnσvel.cѳm
Curse that baby pig! Curse their feathers! Curse every flying pig that shoots those damn knives! Coco insulted the monster’s bloodline in her head, squeezing her eyes close as she did her best to stay still.
Though, the sound of the door being slammed opened startled her greatly that she ended up almost jumping out of her skin.
"Heiren! I bought extra bandages!" Zaque screamed, his voice gruff with panic and fright.
"Just put it down here, I’m still cleaning her wounds." The second husband stated, pointing at the spot beside him without looking away from Coco’s back.
"Okay, I can do that.." Zaque murmured, clenching the basket full of bandages he had just received from Mrs. Tani who also was panicking when she saw the amount of blood on Coco’s clothes.
He walked over to Heiren and bent down, putting the basket down on the floor.
He looked up, glancing at Heiren’s careful handiwork which was meticulously cleaning their wife’s wounds.
His expression changed the moment he saw the wounds on Coco’s back, horror and shock filling his face as he took in the damage— the wounds were clear to see, showing a pattern of scratches and cuts.
He couldn’t look away, his eyes fixed on the gashes that her skin, both new and old, and what’s worse is that he couldn’t tell where she got the old ones because it would be impossible for their wife to have such things when all she does was stay in the pub.
However, the littered scars on her back says a lot.
"Ow! That hurts!" Coco cried out, smacking the bed with her clenched fist.
The sound of Coco’s cries had snapped Zaque out of his inner turmoil, making him blink and shake his head to reel himself back to reality.
"I’m almost done so bear with it a little more." Heiren said, assuring the sobbing woman who would not stop shaking from all the pressure and pain she gets from a simple wound cleaning.
"Did you put too much salt on the water?" Zaque whispered to Heiren, keeping his eyes on the second husband’s work.
"No, but I am planning to use the vinegar the merchant gave me to sterilize the wound after this." Heiren whispered back, his eyes focused on the task at hand.
Zaque shuddered, the sound of Coco’s cries already echoing in the back of his head.
He had run over to the inn when he heard from the merchant’s wife, who he was talking to at the time and was having a pleasant conversation about baking pies for their spouses, and was frightened at the fact that Coco was bleeding badly.
He did not expect Coco to come back looking like this!
She was yelling and pointing a finger at the third husband when she left the house to go to the forest, saying something about the book that Alhai had told her to buy which made her protect something important to her.
On his way to the inn, the merchant herself looked spooked so he knew that the information he had heard from her wife was true.
Sighing weakly, Zaque stood up from his position and looked at the bottle of vinegar at the table.
"I’ll open the bottle and prepare the water to go with it so you can go ahead to the next step once you’re done ." The red haired mediator informed the one who was busy.
"Be quick, I’m almost done." Heiren called out, his hand dipping the cotton on the water and wiping the wounds for a third time, making sure that he had applied enough pressure on each one.
"Ow!" Coco reacted to the pressure, burying her face further into the bed.
By the time Heiren was done with Coco, Zaque had already come with a bowl of water with a small ratio of vinegar in it along with a few gauze soaked in it.
"This will seriously sting so bite the cover if you have to." Heiren warned Coco, his brown irises glancing at her, just in time to see her nod her head in understanding and catching the sound of sniffles.
Heiren had squeezed out the excess fluid from the gauze and slowly put it over on Coco’s wound, and her reaction was immediate.
They felt their heart getting squeezed when they heard Coco muffled her cries.
"Just a little more." Heiren mumbled.
