New World with Four Husbands-Chapter 115: Chaotic morning
Chapter 115: Chaotic morning
"Good morning, Zaque." The fourth husband greeted the first husband as he descended the stairs, muffling his yawn behind his palm.
"Good morning, Quizen." Zaque greeted back with a small polite smile, "Here’s your tea. We will be having bread for breakfast today, I hope you don’t mind."
The blue haired mediator hummed softly and took a seat, the tea cup being slid to his spot carefully while reaching out to grab it by the handle. "I take it that Heiren has not come out of his room yet?"
Zaque turned around, grabbed the chocolate spread and strawberry jam from the cabinet.
"Unfortunately." Zaque responded as he placed the spreads down on the table and slid it towards Quizen, quickly taking a spoon from the dish strainer and handing it to the awaiting hungry individual.
"He has been upset with me since yesterday. I tried to coax him out with his hibiscus tea a couple of times, but he wouldn’t budge. He’s quite stubborn." Zaque sighed out, shaking his head in worry because Heiren hadn’t eaten anything since last night.
"I heard what happened." Quizen said, opening the jar of the chocolate spread and taking a single piece of bread, "Heiren invited Coco to that infamous scary man and asked her to talk to him."
Zaque nodded his head to confirm what happened even though he wasn’t there himself.
"Coco did what he asked, but then, she asked something in return and made Heiren mad." Quizen chuckled out, the amusement in his irises shining ever so slightly as he spread the chocolate all over his bread.
"That’s true.. Although, all Coco asked was about Alhai’s favorite book. Nothing else." Zaque stated, shrugging his shoulders in a dismissive manner.
Quizen’s hands froze mid-air, his eyes widening slightly before a smile creeped into his face. "Seriously?"
"Seriously." Zaque affirmed, sighing heavily.
"That’s.. Interesting." Quizen laughed quietly under his breath and shook his head, "But we all know that no matter what happens, it would always be Coco’s fault, right? So, let’s just blame her so Heiren won’t feel like that anymore."
"It’s not our wife’s fault, Quizen." Zaque scolded him almost immediately, shooting down his suggestion, "Be thankful that she’s providing for us right now before she divorces us— if she doesn’t, we would have done even more work just to get us by."
The tone Zaque used on him made Quizen flinch, out of the four of the mediators married to Coco Hughes, Quizen is the recently wedded one.
So, his authority in the house is almost non-existent.
If he were wedded to someone who has a lot of mediators that came from powerful households, he would be at the bottom of the tree and would be the laughing stock, never to be heard to speak again.
However, Zaque wasn’t like them.
He gives everyone a chance to speak about what they want and think on certain topics and matters, whether it is important or not.
He made sure that everyone was well taken care of, always looking out for the three of them.
Hence why his words are a must.
"I understand." Quizen mumbled, lowering his head so Zaque wouldn’t see the pout on his face.
He felt like a kid that got scolded for something he didn’t mean to say and it wasn’t a nice feeling to have early in the morning, right before he went to work, too.
Pleased, Zaque nodded his head and turned around, pouring himself a cup of tea.
"Good morning, Alhai."
Zaque’s body grew stiff for a moment, not expecting for the third husband to wake so early when he usually wakes up sometime in the afternoon.
Wordlessly, he grabbed another tea cup and placed it in front of him, pouring tea on it and filling it almost to the brim.
"Morning, Quizen." Alhai greeted back, his voice monotonous.
"You woke up early today. What’s the occasion?" The fourth husband stole the question from Zaque’s mouth which he was so grateful for.
Alhai still has not spoken to him ever since his argument with him when he last invited Coco over, having avoided him and ignoring him at every given chance and situation— not caring if Heiren and Quizen will notice the tension between the two.
"I’m waiting for a fool today." Alhai answered, his response curt and short, not giving too much information.
Though, it only piqued Quizen’s interest more.
"Oh?" The blue haired mediator raised an eyebrow, making Alhai nod his head to confirm whatever he has in mind.
"Here’s your tea." Zaque chimed in, placing the tea cup gently on the table and taking a seat on the other end of the table, which was right in front of Alhai.
Alhai didn’t say any word of gratitude on his way, but picked up the tea cup.
Now, the space is filled with a tense atmosphere.
Thankfully, before anything else could happen, a loud knock came from the door that suddenly broke the silence.
"I’ll get it!" Quizen was fast to volunteer, standing up from his seat and rushing towards the door.
He didn’t think twice to open the door, only caring for the awkward atmosphere between the first and third husbands to be broken so he could eat in peace.
However..
"Awesome! Thanks for opening the door, but please move aside!" Coco said in a hurry, taking Quizen aback. freēwēbnovel.com
"Just come in, Coco!" Zaque called out.
"Okay! Thanks!" Coco said, placing a hand on Quizen’s ribs and pushed him to the side carefully so she could walk past him.
"Oi, Alhai!" Coco’s voice was loud and booming, "I didn’t know that those are the kind of books you made me buy for you! Did you know how much I have to tell somebody that those aren’t mine? Next time, warn me!"
Coco dropped the books on a chair and his only response is taking a sip of his tea.
Before Coco left the house, she gave the remaining books to Zaque, each of them having a name.
