My Wife and I Became Sages in Another World-Chapter 186: Platinum Adventurers
Chapter 186: Platinum Adventurers
Melina and I had spent over a week in the jungle, using our teleportation spell to bring food and resources to the settlements that were rebuilding their homes.
During our time there, we found and hunted down a few more ghost gorillas that we came across, making a total of twenty defeated monsters.
Once all of the settlements were back on track and their communication methods were restored, we returned to the capital of Kalusia to turn in our quest.
The city looked much better than it was when we first left for the jungle, with all of the debris that remained from the war fully cleared off the streets.
Their homes and buildings were restored to their original states, and the people walked around with smiles on their faces, which made me feel really good, to be honest.
There was just something about seeing people who had been suffering for a while now smiling brightly.
When we got to the guild, we noticed that more adventurers were gathered inside, not only beastkins this time.
Apparently, as soon as the news of Zagor’s defeat traveled around the continent, adventurers from Aridonia and Droman made their way here, knowing that plenty of contracts would be posted after years of absence.
Melina and I approached the clerk while my companions stayed back, looking at the new contracts posted on the board.
Our task was to hunt down one single ghost gorilla, but we ended up killing twenty of them, which was definitely not what they expected when we pulled out tens of white gorilla tails as proof.
Killing one gorilla was considered to be a mithril-ranked task, so the clerk ended up calling the guild master as she wasn’t sure how to proceed with the completion.
To my surprise, the guild master was Kato, the beastkin with tiger features who volunteered himself to be the first subject to be healed of the curse by Vespera’s unorthodox method.
He was the man who fearlessly agreed to get killed for a moment and resurrected to test if Vespera’s cure was effective.
"Ichiro and friends!" Kato exclaimed when he saw us behind the clerk’s desk.
"Kato! It’s good seeing you, man." I replied, feeling satisfied with how he turned out.
I introduced the guild master to Melina as the creator of the golden pearls, and the beastkin lowered his head almost to the ground level while thanking her from the bottom of his heart.
The princess looked a little embarrassed, but I thought it was pretty funny, and after letting out a chuckle, we explained to him what had happened in the jungle.
The clerk was listening to our story, too, and while she seemed shocked at our report, Kato simply nodded in understanding and inspected the gorilla tails.
"Hmmm, I see. Taking down one of these is already quite difficult..." Kato muttered before asking us to follow him to his office.
Inside, Kato told us that he would be giving us a higher ranking, as taking down ten gorillas at the same time could easily be considered the feat of a "celestial-rank" adventurer.
Melina and I were both adamantite-rank, so Kato explained that he couldn’t give us the maximum rank straight away as it required us to pass some sort of test that the adventurers guild held in the country of Balinesia.
However, he could give us the next rank after adamantite, which was platinum, along with paying for all the materials that we wanted to sell to the guild.
There were some parts of the ghost gorillas that I wanted to keep, specifically the ones that could be used in alchemy, since I thought Reinar would give those materials much better use than anyone else.
I had no use for materials like the eyes, which were seen as a trophy to boast about and nothing else, so we sold all of them to the guild. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm
Kato wondered how much longer we would be staying in Kalusia, but we were thinking of leaving soon as I wanted to show Melina more places before we had to return to Sephyr.
Fall was starting, and the academy had just ended its first year a few days prior, so all of the students were on break until the winter ended, and I wanted to use that vacation time to travel with Melina.
The guild master understood, and after thanking us again for all the help we had given them, we went to the castle to say farewell to the royal family.
It turned out that during our time in the jungle, the rest of the royal family came back to their home, so we got to meet the queen and the prince of Kalusia.
The Queen was a woman named "Garra" and had the features of a white tiger, which was pretty cool, to be honest.
The prince was an 18-year-old called "Bertu" and had the features of a white jaguar, which I didn’t think existed, but I could tell that it was a combination of his leopard father and white tiger mother.
The royal family of Kalusia named my companions and me as permanent royal guests and closest allies of the beastkins, promising to treat us with respect and admiration for as long as we lived.
It might have felt like a bit much, but I could understand their gratitude, and after the formalities, we sat down with them as we talked about the jungle beastkins and their situation.
Nonetheless, King Dente told me that he had already received word from people at Safe Haven, saying that they would resume their export of products in a few weeks.
I sighed with relief, feeling glad that the continent was healing and that the beastkins were finally free.
’Our job here is done, then...’ I thought with a smile on my face.
The king called a few servants and asked them to bring wine and food since he wanted to celebrate with the heroes who saved his nation. We were sharing some of that happiness, so we saw no harm in drinking a few cups with them.
We spent that night drinking wine with the royal family in celebration, which made the princess and I quite sleepy, and we ended up falling asleep on the same bed without even noticing.
