My Wife and I Became Sages in Another World-Chapter 175: Quick Return
Chapter 175: Quick Return
When Melina returned to her room, I was hanging out on the balcony with my feet up on the rail.
Her two roommates had accompanied her, along with three other guys, one of whom I recognized as the green-haired guy from early in the morning.
"How were the lessons?" I asked Melina, who had come straight to the balcony after entering her room.
"Boring. How about you?" she said with an exasperated tone.
"I did what I had to do, so I’m done for the day," I replied.
Before I could tell Melina that she was coming with me to Kalusia, we were interrupted by the green-haired guy, who greeted me with a friendly smile and introduced himself as Luca, the Prince of Vista.
"Oh, you are from Vista? I’ve heard a lot of good things about that place!" I said, remembering that it was the country that Giuseppe had founded.
Luca seemed a bit surprised at my comment but followed it up by saying that it was indeed a beautiful nation with a somewhat arrogant tone.
It was fine, though, since I had no problems with someone that was proud of their lineage as long as they weren’t complete assholes.
His two other friends were nobles from Vista, called Enzo and Marco, but they were very quiet the entire time, so I didn’t interact much with them.
After the greeting, Luca stayed awkwardly silent for a few seconds with nothing else to say, so I went back to the topic at hand.
"You see, Melina. I came here because I wanted to ask for your help in rebuilding Kalusia..." I said, making her and the rest of the people present widen their eyes with surprise.
"I talked to the headmaster, and he said that you are excused for the rest of the semester since it’s already coming to an end. Oh, but you don’t have to come with me if you don’t want to, of course!" I explained. freewebnøvel.com
Melina stayed quiet for a moment, and when I looked at the others, they seemed pretty shocked, except for Luca, who appeared annoyed at my words as he gritted his teeth.
Before I could even ponder if he had a problem with me, the princess hugged me by the neck and said that she would happily accompany me.
It was as if she had been wanting to come with me all along, which made me feel relieved since I didn’t want to put her on the spot and choose between her lessons and helping me.
"Let me just grab some stuff so I don’t forget them!" the princess said while hastily going inside the room.
I could still see her from the balcony’s window, and she was putting the trinkets on her desk inside her void pocket, so I assumed that she already had her change of clothes packed in it.
"Y-you better take care of her..." Luca muttered lowly.
"Huh?" I pondered, raising an eyebrow and staring at him.
"Of course, I will," I replied confidently, and he seemed to accept my answer since he just closed his eyes and let out a sigh of relief.
When Melina came back outside, she was wearing her poncho, gave her roommates a hug, and said that she would return soon.
Then, she approached me to hold my hand and waved at the three men from Vista with her other arm.
"Ummm, it’s gonna take me a few teleports to get there..." I said, now holding both of Melina’s hands.
"Wait, let me try something..." she replied, channeling her energy onto me through our clasped hands.
"What if I give you some MP? Can you make it further?" she asked with her face close to mine, her beautiful eyes sparkling.
"I-I... yeah, I think so..." I said with a bit of shyness as her beauty caught me off-guard.
Still, I wasn’t lying since I could feel a lot of MP flowing into me, and I believed that I could make it to the small town of Meisi with three teleports, which was a huge contrast to the ten I had cast previously to get there.
As I started focusing on the furthest place I could get to, the energy made our clothes flow in the wind momentarily, taking us to the capital of the Droman Empire in the blink of an eye.
We appeared outside of the city gates on the fields that were right next to it, and while I would have loved to tour the city with her, I had promised my companions that I would return that day.
After we both drank an MP potion, we grabbed hands again and teleported straight to the top of one of the mesas in the red Kalusian desert, giving Melina a beautiful view where the Aridonia desert was visible from.
*phew* "We skipped the entire desert with that one teleport..." I commented, a bit relieved.
I mean, it’s not like we would have stayed in the desert for a long time if we appeared there, but it felt good to cut so much distance with one single spell.
We both drank another MP potion and cast one last teleport that took us straight to Meisi, which was the closest town to the capital, meaning that we had skipped most of the savannah.
As soon as we appeared, we spotted Vespera working on a burned-down house while Yoru pulled a cart with wooden logs toward some beastkin workers.
However, before we could say anything to them, Melina and I lost our balance as our bodies felt slightly weaker for a brief moment, so we held onto each other’s arms to maintain our balance.
"Sorry. Casting those teleportation spells continuously like that is a little taxing..." I said as we both held each other.
"Heh, no worries..." she replied, her legs trembling a little from the spell’s drawback.
"Princess!" Gina exclaimed, running towards us to greet Melina.
The princess regained her balance and hugged the battle-maid, followed by a bombardment of questions as she wanted to know urgently what needed to be done.
We had just arrived at the town, and Melina was already eager to start working on helping people.
’Yeah, this feels much better than before...’ I thought, admiring Melina’s determination.
