My Wife and I Became Sages in Another World-Chapter 146: Sephyr’s Reinforcements
Chapter 146: Sephyr’s Reinforcements
It had been two weeks since we defeated the golem at Howlsridge, and most of the beastkin villagers that didn’t want to fight were sent to the Droman Empire as refugees, where the princess would receive them to give them accommodation.
The two armies that were pushing from the south and north sides had managed to pass the border walls after a long battle, so we had all of our main forces inside enemy territory.
I was reunited with the empress at one of the tents where we were looking at a map of Kalusia, deciding our next move, when I got a message on the voice crystal from King Leon back at Sephyr.
[ Ichiro, I hope you are staying safe out there.
Our reinforcements should arrive soon, at least the first half of them.
Good luck out there. We are all rooting for you!
Please... be safe...]
"Reinforcements!?" I shouted, catching the attention of the empress.
I told her that King Leon had sent people to back us up, making Lysandra smile snidely.
"About time!" she said.
I mean, to be fair, the Sephyr Kingdom had no obligation to help in this war. However, there were different factors influencing their decision.
The King of Kalusia had been living at the Sephyr castle ever since the devil conquered their country, so I knew that they already had a good relationship.
There was also the fact that if the Droman Empire and Aridonia lost the war, Sephyr was the next target for Zagor, so helping now would prove more beneficial for the country in the future.
With that in mind, I always thought that it was only a matter of time until they joined, but I wasn’t expecting them to arrive any time soon.
It had been over two months since we started battling the Kalusia forces, but it felt much more to me.
The highlights of my day were whenever I got a message from Melina, and I got to lie down and listen to her voice for a few seconds.
She had been sending us the golden pearls all this time, but in her messages, she always talked about how bored she was at the academy, which didn’t make me feel much better, to be honest.
In a strange way, I felt the same as her. I wasn’t bored by any means since I was in the middle of a war, but it’s not like I was having fun.
After another week at the camp, the army started moving deeper into Kalusia’s territory as we made our way to another settlement that was suspected of having a warehouse full of black pearls.
Since Zagor knew that we were here already, we didn’t need to keep sending Lampart and Rio on any stealth missions, which made me feel at peace as they could have gotten killed easily.
We had a few hundred golden pearls to heal the lesser demons since we had stolen them from two other settlements during our time there.
It was enough to heal the few dozen or lesser demons that guarded the towns and settlements, but it wouldn’t be nearly enough to heal every single lesser demon in the country.
We hadn’t even seen the state of the capital, which Gina told me was the place where 90% of the population lived.
Once we were able to take control of another small town in the semi-arid desert, we put up another camp and stayed there for a few more days.
Suddenly, it was early in the afternoon when a soldier came running inside the tent where the empress and I were planning our next move while sending messages to the other two armies.
"Your Highness. There is a group of soldiers flying towards us!" the soldier exclaimed.
"They are coming from our side. Maybe they are trying to flank the camp!" he continued.
"Flying soldiers?" I wondered out loud, quickly running outside with a bit of enthusiasm.
There were only a few people that I knew could fly — Melina, my companions, and the knights that we trained in Sephyr.
As I looked up, I smiled brightly after seeing the knights of the 7th and 4th order arriving at our camp, slowly descending with their iron-clad armors that seemed more radiant under the sun.
Commander Harvey and Commander Valentina were the first ones to land, and without thinking, I ran up to them and gave them a hug, holding them with each of my arms.
The two knights seemed slightly confused, but I apologized with an awkward smile.
"Sorry. I guess I’m just a little homesick..." I said, making the two commanders chuckle a bit.
Valentina was still a hard-ass, but she had been extremely friendly with me and my companions after the whole Kraken battle that happened at Port Town Blue.
Garret, the former Commander of the 2nd, was there too, as he was now a knight of the 4th under Harvey’s command. Still, he looked much stronger and happier than when I met him.
He even greeted me with a smile before helping unload supplies from a cart that they had carried flying all the way there.
We caught the commanders up to speed, telling them about the places we had taken control of and what our next move would be.
Now that we had the knights’ orders with us, we could attack different settlements simultaneously and split the forces of Kalusia even more.
The knights were on another level compared to ordinary soldiers of the empire or Aridonia. These guys could fly and cast magic without chanting those long prayers, which was enough to put them way above the others.
Vespera had enchanted the empress’ armor with protection against attacks and the environment, but we didn’t add the flying enchantment since it required some practice to master, and frankly, we were not in a position to train our abilities.
The empress didn’t use any long chant to cast magic, but she still used a few words, so she needed a little push to perfect it.
"Our next move would have been a week from now. But I think we can pull it off tomorrow with all these reinforcements." the empress commented, guiding the two knights’ commanders to the tent where we strategized.
