Chapter 60: Sweet romance in the kitchen - Part 2

"What are you doing?" Isaac pulled Xavier aside and folded his hands, giving him a look that said to get talking; otherwise, he’d show him hell.

"What am I doing?" Xavier frowned, not understanding what his friend was getting at.

Why is Xavier looking at me strangely as if he wants to bite my head off? What’s wrong with him? Did he inhale something he shouldn’t have?

"There’s no need for you to act before me. I see everything."

"That’s good, brother. I’m glad your eyesight is good." Xavier patted his back and was about to leave when Isaac’s next words stopped him.

"What’s happening between Miss Lawrence and Kyrell?"

Xavier almost lost his footing, and his blood ran cold. Turning around, he stared at Isaac as if he were a monster.

"How...how..." Xavier failed to control his mouth in his surprise and gave away the truth he had promised to keep a secret forever.

"Oh, please. I have eyes and I’m not muddle-headed to not notice what you’re trying to do. Why are you pushing Kyrell towards Miss Lawrence? What’s happening?"

Xavier sighed heavily and ran a hand through his hair. "Would you believe if I say nothing is going on between the two, not yet, at least?"

"Go ahead." Isaac nodded, prompting the man to continue.

"Well..." Xavier scratched his neck awkwardly. How was he going to say that Kyrell had an intense crush on Miss Lawrence? What if someone heard them? What if Miss Lawrence chanced upon their conversation? All his efforts would then go down the drain.

No. I can’t take this chance. I can’t allow my friend to lose when he’s close. I can’t give up my dream to eat my friend’s wedding cake.

As if sensing that Xavier was about to lie, Isaac looked at him sternly. "Don’t even think about it."

Xavier’s shoulders sagged in defeat, and he looked around, ensuring no one was nearby.

"I guess I can’t keep the matter a secret anymore. It’s Kyrell." Xavier closed his eyes, not having the courage to look at Isaac. "He likes Miss Lawrence."

"Are you serious?" Isaac had an inkling that it might be somewhere along this line. But he couldn’t help but be stupefied when Xavier confirmed it.

"Yes. But please don’t tell anyone, especially not Miss Lawrence," Xavier pleaded with him, his eyes begging him desperately. "Kyrell doesn’t want her to know about it."

"When did it start?" Isaac was yet to come to terms with the truth, and his hands dropped to his sides.

"Three years ago."

"Is that why he refused to date other women?" ƒrēenovelkiss.com

"Yes."

"What does he intend to do now?"

"That blockhead doesn’t want to reveal his feelings to her. He is satisfied where he is." Xavier complained in anguish. Why was his friend so rigid? Would it kill him if he took a step further?

"Is that why you’re creating opportunities so they can spend more time together?"

Xavier nodded. "They’re both single and have good character. What if everything works out between them?"

Isaac remained silent. It wasn’t his place to interfere or state his opinions. He could only hope the best for both of them.

"Please don’t tell anyone about it. Kyrell will kill me otherwise." Xavier begged again.

"Relax. Kyrell is my friend too, and I want the best for him. And Miss Lawrence has faced a lot over the past few days, and has no one to call her family. I’ll naturally be happy if they get together."

Xavier grinned, glad that Isaac understood him. Otherwise, he couldn’t fathom how he’d face Kyrell. He was still waiting to eat his friend’s wedding cake. He didn’t want to die so soon.

Oblivious that his secret was out, Kyrell loaded all the plates into the dishwasher while Sienna stood by the sink to wash some of the pans. Considering the oil stains in them, it wasn’t easy to wash them off in a dishwasher. So, she took it on herself to wash them.

This time, Kyrell didn’t stop her and watched from the side. Although Sienna was clumsy at first, sprinkling the water all over her apron, she managed to get it under control soon.

"Mr. Winchester, you don’t have to stay here, you know. Why don’t you accompany your friends?" Sienna suggested pouring the liquid dishwasher onto the scrubber.

"I’m accompanying my friend, Miss Lawrence. Don’t worry." Since Sienna hadn’t denied the idea of being friends when Isaac had suggested it, he took the chance to establish the relationship. Until then, he had been the head of her security in charge. Could they now be considered friends?

Kyrell didn’t dare imagine a future with her that involved anything more than that. He was satisfied being her friend and protecting her silently. It was the farthest he knew he could go.

"I didn’t know you were a smooth talker, Mr. Winchester." Sienna darted him a smile before returning to the pan she was washing.

Me neither, Miss Lawrence. I guess everything comes to me normally when you’re around.

"You know, I never thought I would get this close to someone I barely know," Sienna started after a few seconds of silence. "You guys surprised me, Mr. Winchester."

"What can I say, Miss Lawrence? I guess our charms are that great," Kyrell praised his team as well as himself.

"True. You’re quite charming." Sienna stopped with her actions and leaned against the sink, and Kyrell’s heart almost jumped out of his chest when he heard her words.

Did I hear her correctly, or am I hallucinating things now? Have I gone crazy in her love, that my ears are ringing?

"Miss Lawrence, what did you just say?" he asked, wishing to clarify the truth right away.

"Nothing." Sienna shook her head and resumed washing the dishes.

However, Kyrell wasn’t the one to let go. Since Sienna had opened a door for him, he couldn’t stop himself from walking in.

"Miss Lawrence," he probed, hoping for her to speak on her own without having him do anything.

"Mr. Winchester, when did you start the Cheetah Corps?" Sienna diverted the topic and asked something completely irrelevant.

But Kyrell didn’t entertain her and padded towards, startling her with his sudden proximity.

"Miss Lawrence," he whispered in her ear, and Sienna’s hands trembled when his hot breath hit her neck. Her ears turned red at a visible speed.

"What did you just say? Please repeat it for me." Kyrell used his voice to his advantage and coaxed her gently. He didn’t dare cross his boundaries, for he knew it would scare her. He stayed within his limits as he asked her to repeat her words.

"You’re charming, Mr. Winchester." Sienna relented, letting out a deep breath.

To Kyrell, they weren’t any flowery words or her declaration of love. Yet, he couldn’t stop smiling and retreated away from her immediately, allowing her to breathe without suffocating.

You’re charming!

The words kept repeating in his mind.

Sienna finds me charming. Does that mean I have a chance?

Just the mere thought of it made his heart skip a beat, and he clutched the edges of the counter tightly.

Kyrell’s eyes turned to her, and he noticed Sienna fighting against her hair. Since she was wearing the rubber gloves, which were covered with washing liquid, she couldn’t brush off the hair that fell over her face. She was using her shoulders to push them away.

Approaching her silently, he stood beside her. "Miss Lawrence, let me."

Sienna stiffened. Looking at him in confusion, she blinked a few times.

Nothing happened for a few seconds. Just when Sienna was about to question him, Kyrell raised his hands and brushed her hair away from her face, tucking it behind her ears. He didn’t stop at that. His hands moved lower until he ended up cupping her cheeks.
