Accidentally Yours, Mr. Stranger-Chapter 61: Sweet romance in the kitchen - Part 3
Chapter 61: Sweet romance in the kitchen - Part 3
Kyrell’s fingers traced her cheeks as he pushed her hair behind her ears. Instead of pulling back once he was done, he went ahead and cupped her cheeks subconsciously, startling the woman who was staring at him strangely.
At first, she hadn’t noticed anything different about him. But now, in such proximity, it was impossible not to notice the emotions swirling in his eyes.
Sienna wasn’t a fool. She wasn’t oblivious to romance or anything related to love. She had seen how her father treated her mother like his most cherished person. Moreover, she had watched movies and TV series and seen how the male lead looked at his lover.
At that moment, Kyrell’s eyes held the same emotions she had seen in the male leads in some romantic movies, and her heart skipped a beat.
’Does he like me? We’ve only known each other for a few days.’
Sienna couldn’t think about anything. Kyrell was behaving abnormally all of a sudden, and her eyes dropped to his hands, which were still cupping her cheeks as he gazed at her.
Sienna didn’t know what to do in her predicament. In normal circumstances, she’d have pushed him away, maybe even rebuked him for touching her, for crossing a line. But somehow, she couldn’t bring herself to do it. She couldn’t bring herself to scold the man who was admiring her with such intensity that it felt she was the one in his heart.
Clearing her throat awkwardly, took a step back. Her sudden movement snapped Kyrell’s stupor, and his eyes widened when he realized what he had done.
What the hell did I do? How could I be careless? How could I lose my sanity and reveal my feelings to her? What do I do? Kyrell, what the hell did you do?
In just a few seconds, his mind started to run wild, and he scolded himself while hoping for Sienna not to distance herself from him. It was already painful for him to hide his feelings and not do anything about them when he was this close to her. He couldn’t afford to lose her respect now. If not lovers, he at least wanted to be her friend and would be content with it.
Friends? Can we be friends now? Sienna must loathe me now? Does she want to kick me out of her house? After what I did, I think she does.
"Thank you, Mr. Winchester." Sienna didn’t miss the obvious panic on his face once he realized what he had done. Although he was quick to mask it, she had caught onto it, and it became clear that the man had feelings for her. Not just admiration or a fleeting crush, but deep feelings, and she pursed her lips.
For him to have such deep feelings, did we know each other before? If I did, I would have remembered him for sure. Does that mean it’s a one-sided obsession? Is that why he approached me and wanted to be my bodyguard?
Sienna’s thoughts were no less wild, and in just a few minutes, she had contrived all the possibilities for Kyrell to have suddenly appeared in her life.
"I...I...I apologize, Miss Lawrence. I crossed my limits." Kyrell lowered his head, clenching his fists anxiously. He couldn’t read Sienna’s thoughts from her face. However, her stare scared him until his heart started rattling like a drum.
"It’s fine." Sienna brushed him off indifferently and returned to the dishes in the sink, and Kyrell’s heart dropped all the more.
She hates me now. Her tone is so cold. I fucking hate myself.
Although Sienna’s thoughts were a mess, she was observing him from the corner of her eye and noticed how crestfallen he looked. Her brows furrowed, and she pushed her tongue against her cheek.
Nobody spoke a word, and even when Sienna was done with the dishes, she didn’t glance at him and walked out of the kitchen.
"Miss Lawrence, do you want to have some apples? We have..."
Kelsey stopped speaking when Sienna didn’t even glance at her and climbed the stairs.
Xavier, who had been smiling like a fool, lost his smile when he noticed the awkward air between the couple and gave Kyrell a questioning look.
Weren’t they fine before they went inside the kitchen? What happened to them now? Did they quarrel? Why does Ky look as if the world has ended?
Something was wrong. Xavier sensed it. Not just him, everyone else did as well, and they collectively stared at Kyrell, hoping for him to answer them. But all they got in return was the man’s silence as he continued to stare in the direction Sienna had gone.
Xavier pursed his lips and glanced at Isaac, whose expression mirrored his.
While Kyrell remained frozen in his spot for a long time, the others returned to what they were doing. Since it wasn’t time for bed yet, some of them watched a movie while the others discussed how to celebrate Isaac’s birthday.
On seeing everyone busy, Xavier and Isaac dragged Kyrell outside and folded their hands, prompting him to start speaking. But Kyrell remained silent as if he had lost his speech completely. His mind was blank while his heart was in turmoil. He wanted to speak to Sienna. But he didn’t know what to say.
"Ky, what happened in the kitchen? Why is Miss Lawrence suddenly so detached?" Xavier asked, softening his tone.
Most of the time, Xavier was the clown of the group. He could crack jokes about anything and everything on the planet. But when it came to serious matters and the people he loved, he was the most serious person ever, even more than Kyrell.
Kyrell lowered his gaze and let out a sigh of defeat. "I messed up."
"What?" Isaac couldn’t fathom what he was saying, and his frown deepened.
It was only then that Kyrell noticed Isaac, and he glanced at Xavier immediately.
"He knows," Xavier explained. "He sensed something was amiss about you. So, he asked me and I told him everything."
Kyrell didn’t bother with him for revealing his secret to Isaac. He was more worried about Sienna and her indifference towards him. He was close to becoming her friend, but he had pushed her away with his own hands.
"What happened, Ky? Tell us everything, slowly."
"I messed up, and I think Miss Lawrence has an inkling about my feelings for her."
"So? How’s that a problem?" Xavier couldn’t fathom what was wrong with it. She either accepted his feelings and agreed to be with him or rejected him. Why did the two react as if they had heard a piece of devastating news?
"I think she hates me now. I should have controlled myself." Kyrell mumbled to himself.
"Did you confess to her?" Isaac asked, wondering what exactly had led to the sudden awkward tension between them.
"No, I didn’t." Kyrell shook his head as an added emphasis.
"Then, how does she know? Did you do something that gave it away?"
Kyrell nodded this time.
"Ky, I think there’s a misunderstanding here. Maybe, Miss Lawrence was startled by the unexpected turn of events." Xavier suggested, and Kyrell’s gaze rose to him hopefully.
"Maybe she didn’t know how to handle the sudden awkward situation after, you know. She met you only a few days ago."
Unlike Kyrell, who wasn’t thinking rationally, and Xavier, who was worried for his friend, Isaac was still sane, and he pursed his lips thoughtfully.
Miss Lawrence’s reaction doesn’t seem like she hates Kyrell. Her reaction is quite abnormal for someone who has just found out that she has an admirer. It seems more like she is... suspicious and cautious.
Isaac’s eyes widened in shock when a possibility sprang to his mind, and he looked at the two men immediately.
"Kyrell, I think, I think, the situation isn’t what you think it to be," he said, analysing his thoughts, gaining two men’s attention. "Miss Lawrence has misunderstood you, but for a completely different reason."
"What do you mean?" Xavier gave him a look, not understanding what he was referring to.
"I mean, think about it. It’s not even been two weeks since her family was murdered. And you entered her life. And you end up becoming her personal bodyguard. Now, she finds out that you have not just a small crush but deep feelings for her when you two barely know each other. Anyone would misunderstand that you approached her with an intention, which, according to her, could be malicious."
Isaac’s analysis was on point, and Kyrell’s despair vanished, and his rationality slowly returned.
"Kyrell, there are a lot of other possibilities too. But I think this is what must have happened," Isaac explained his thought and waited for his friends to digest what he had said.
"Ky, now that we think about it, I feel Isaac is right. Miss Lawrence must have misunderstood you and thinks that you approached her with ill intentions." Xavier agreed, his thoughts becoming clearer as seconds ticked. "I think you should speak to her."
"Yes, I feel the same. You should lay the cards before her and reveal everything before the situation spirals out of control." Isaac suggested the same.
Previously, Kyrell’s mind was clouded with the fear of losing Sienna, so he hadn’t been thinking rationally. Now that he did, he didn’t waste any time and sprinted inside the villa.
"I hope things will sort out between them," Isaac said hopefully.
Xavier didn’t comment. He bit his lip when he recalled the matter that nobody among the Cheetah Corps knew except Kyrell and him.
’Ky, I hope this won’t be a time bomb in the future. I hope you’ll tread well.’
