Chapter 53: Public ban

The mini-auditorium was filled with reporters. The tension in the air was so thick that it made everyone antsy. Even the reporters who were used to disturbing situations felt their lungs constrict as they waited for Sienna’s arrival.

Surprisingly, the security was as thin as a string. They were countable on their fingers.

Shouldn’t Sienna have increased security around her after what happened to her family? Why did it seem the opposite?

There were barely any guards while the auditorium was packed. What was happening?

The reporters were tapping their feet anxiously while they waited for the clock to strike 3. The time seemed to run slower than ever. Seconds passed like minutes and finally, after a long agonizing wait, the minute hand pointed to 12.

Right at that moment, the door to the mini-auditorium opened and two guards, one male and one female stepped inside. They surveyed the place coldly, studying everyone as if they were criminals.

Subconsciously, the reporters gulped and held their breaths. The guards didn’t seem like they should be provoked. The man seemed as if he would punch a hole through them easily while the woman - the woman looked like she would kill anyone who dared to challenge her.

Sienna smiled faintly when she sensed the intimidating aura around Kyle and Amy. Standing a few feet behind them with Kyrell right behind her, she waited a few seconds, adding more to the suspense, while making the reporters sweat buckets.

Making a grand entrance had never been her forte. She had always remained behind her brother while he took the brunt of the reporters and their assaults.

But now, she had no choice. It was her first press conference without her family members. However, she was a powerhouse and everyone in the auditorium felt it the moment she entered.

Sienna darted a swift glance at the reporters to gauge the number as she made her way toward the small stage. Instead of remaining standing, she sat on the only chair, facing the reporters while Amy stood on her left and Kyrell on her right. The remaining three men surrounded her, creating an impenetrable wall around her.

If any reporter tried to be sneaky, they’d see hell for sure.

"Members of the media," Sienna started, staring right at the camera placed in the middle. "I welcome you all to today’s press conference. You may have questions for me and I will answer them later. First, let me say what I intend to say."

Sitting in a higher position than everyone else, Sienna held the authority. The power scale had tilted to her side completely and the reporters realized they couldn’t lead her the way they wanted. Instead, it was the other way around. She’d be the one leading them and they had no choice but to follow her.

"First of all, most of you assumed that I have a hand in my family’s demise and that I did it because I had no share in the Lawrence family inheritence," Sienna said, her face filled with barely concealable anger.

"If you think I killed my family, show the evidence. Provide the proof of my crime rather than sitting behind the cameras and keyboards and broadcasting bullshit to the world."

In just one sentence, she had insulted and humiliated all the reporters and the keyboard warriors who had taken it upon themselves to serve justice and convict Sienna.

The reporters were embarssed and some of them raised their voices to argue. But Sienna raised her palm, compelling them to shut their mouths. It wasn’t the time for their to speak yet.

However, there was still an unruly reporter who didn’t know his place. Sienna’s words had given a big blow to his ego and in his arrogance, he ignored her warning.

"Miss Lawrence, it’s all nice and flowery to speak of righteousness when you’re destroying evidence from behind."

Sienna didn’t even have to command. Kyrell and Xavier had already stepped off the stage and walked towards the reporter. Without giving him any chance to argue, they picked him up, baffling everyone in the auditorium.

"What...what do you think you’re doing? You....you...." the reporter stammered while the two men picked him up like a chicken and carried him out of the auditorium.

Not just that, they carried him towards the reception, gaining everyone’s eyes to them and the employees and visitors stopped to see what was happening.

The reporter’s protests fell on deaf ears. Kyrell and Xavier didn’t stop until they reached the entrance. Without mercy, they threw him out as if he weighed nothing.

"Note down the reporter’s name and channel. They’re banned from attending any conferences the Lawrence Group holds or attends in the future," Kyrel instructed the receptionist, relaying the orders Sienna had given him even before the press conference had started.

The reporter’s face paled and he looked like fish on a chopping board. What the hell was happening? How did the situation turn out to his? He wanted to corner Sienna. How did he end up being cornered instead?

But the reality came crashing like a mac truck. He hadn’t been banned by the Lawrence Group, he had been banned in front of the other media channels. Word would spread and his channel... the man’s eyes lost all fervor and he scrambled to his feet, itching to enter the building.

However, the guards were quick and he didn’t even get a chance to take a step forward, let alone enter the company. His pleas and cries fell on deaf ears while his body turned cold in fear.

Meanwhile, in the mini-auditorium, the other reporters didn’t dare cross their lines and remained mum, giving Sienna the complete control. But she didn’t speak a word and they didn’t force her to say anything either. freeweɓnovel.cѳm

A heavy silence fell over and it remained so until Kyrell and Xavier returned.

"It’s done, Miss Lawrence. He’s been thrown out of the building and his news agency is banned from all Lawrence Group future events."

Sienna nodded and returned her gaze to the remaining reporters. "Does anyone have to say anything?"

Nobody spoke a word. Who’d dare to say anything, risking not just their jobs but their agency’s future as well? Wouldn’t they be inviting their own demise?

"Just what I thought," Sienna said and smiled until her lips stretched to her ears. It was a normal smile. But to the reporters, it was filled with malice and they didn’t dare let their guards down even once.

"Let’s continue then."
