Chapter 52: Divide and conquer - Part 3

Sienna and Kyrell ate their lunch with relish, ignoring everyone’s curious gazes. They didn’t even bother to look around and stare at others, indulging only each other. Their behavior was so intimate that it seemed something was happening between them.

Yeah right. While Sienna was acting, Kyrell didn’t even have to act. He just had to be himself, minus his respectful distance from Sienna.

’Atta, boy. Look how happy he is," Xavier clicked his tongue, eying his friend hopelessly. ’Looks like Ky will soon be distributing wedding candies.’

The lunch break passed quickly, quicker than ever and Sienna and Kyrell returned to her office immediately. They didn’t speak to the other four people. Heck, they didn’t even look at them, and the best actor Isaac took this chance to complain again.

"Why is he sticking to her closely? What kind of favoritism is this?" he mumbled, his expression morphed with anger.

"Will you keep your volume low?" Amy hissed, putting up an Oscar-worthy act. She looked around in panic as if to ensure no one had heard Isaac’s dissatisfaction. "You don’t want to raise suspicions, do you?"

Isaac just sneered and dropped his spoon on the plate. "I’m done," he said, making an expression of having lost all his appetite. In truth, he had emptied his plate except for the cucumbers and some slices of tomatoes.

One by one, the four people too finished their lunch. At that moment, their phones vibrated again and they looked at the message discreetly, wondering if Kyrell had sent them another ridiculous mission.

Were they now supposed to act as if Sienna wanted to bankrupt them and bring them to the streets?

Thankfully, it wasn’t any absurd mission. Instead, an order. It was serious business now.

"Let’s go. It’s almost time for the press conference," Xavier said, keeping his voice in check. It was neither a whisper nor loud enough to be an announcement. Only a few people eavesdropping on their conversation heard him.

Xavier knocked at the door and waited for Sienna’s permission before the team entered the office.

"Please take your seats. I’ll join you in a moment," Sienna said, pointing to the sofa set. She then sent a quick text to Frank to inquire how the investigation of Andy Cahill and Jordan Cahill was going.

Frank: I’m on it, Miss. I’ll need more time.

Sienna: No problem. No hurry.

Once done, she finally focused on the five people waiting for her patiently.

They weren’t congested by any means. The sofa set could seat all of them and allow another five to join them without having anyone intruding on their personal space.

Like morning, the team had left the sofa in the middle, occupying the side seats instead and Sienna walked past Kyrell and Xavier to sit.

"All of you must be wondering why I asked you to act before my employees," Sienna started, darting her eyes around, ensuring to hold everyone’s gazes for a few seconds.

"You must have had your reasons, Miss Lawrence," Kyle said, his tone firm and understanding.

"I do and I want to tell them to you all." Sienna crossed her legs and folded her hands. Her smile vanished and her expression turned dark.

"I’m not sure if Mr. Winchester has informed you about the moles in my previous security team. Before I could find them or the person they worked for, another mishap happened and I had to dismiss all the workers in the Lawrence Estate and the security team."

"Miss Lawrence, are you trying to use us to uncover who the mastermind is?" Isaac asked, understanding dawning upon.

"More or less. After today’s stunt in the cafeteria, everyone knows I rely on Mr. Winchester more than you all." Sienna tapped her fingers lightly as she gradually revealed her plan.

"They wouldn’t dare approach him. But it can’t be said the same about you guys." Sienna looked at them before focusing on Amy. "Especially you, Amy. They will target you first."

"Miss Lawrence, so there are moles in the company as well?" Xavier’s words came out more like a question.

"If they could infiltrate my security team, which has been working for us for years, it would be as easy as breathing oxygen, considering new employees are hired every few months." Sienna’s lips curled on one side as she stared ahead strangely. "Moreover, money can tempt any greedy heart."

Nobody disagreed. In the current times, loyalty was rarely seen. People could be bought easily. All one needed was to throw money and baam, most people would throw away their principles.

"So, what is expected of us, Miss Lawrence?" Amy already had an answer to her question. But she wanted to know what Sienna had planned and how she intended to use them.

"From today onwards, please portray to the world as if you’re envious to see me relying on Mr. Winchester more than any of you, especially you, Amy. Also, spread the word that you five joined work the same day. But somehow, I pay Mr. Winchester more."

Amy nodded, urging her to continue.

"If my analysis is right, which I feel is, someone will reach out to you soon. Not just you, all of you."

Sienna pointed at everyone but Kyrell.

"They will either want to gain more information from you or try to lure you over into their team."

"So, Miss Lawrence, wants us to be spies. Am I right?" Xavier deduced and Sienna nodded.

"Exactly."

Everyone understood where this was going and they pursed their lips instantly. For Sienna to have thought of such a plan, showed how meticulous and cautious she was. At the same time, it indicated the depths of danger she was in. She wasn’t safe anywhere and this truth was appalling.

"Keep an eye around henceforth and be careful to not raise suspicions. Also, don’t forget to protect yourselves."

"Miss Lawrence, I have one question." Kyle sat up straight and let out a breath. "Are we allowed to kill?"

"Kill?" Sienna frowned, not understanding what the man was asking.

"Yes. We’ll try to be as discreet as possible. But if the situation goes wrong and if...and I say if..."

"Go ahead," Sienna permitted without thinking twice about it. "If you’re damn sure that person is a threat to me or anyone of you, go ahead. I’ll handle the consequences."

"Yes, Miss Lawrence." Kyle smiled and rubbed his wrist. "That was all I wanted to know."
