Accidentally Yours, Mr. Stranger-Chapter 43: New discovery
Chapter 43: New discovery
The entire living room went silent at Xavier’s revelation. While some recalled the case immediately, a few—Kyrell and Sienna, among them —couldn’t remember reading or listening to anything about it in the news or anywhere else.
’Why don’t I know about this matter? If Xavier knows, I must have known about it as well. Why am I oblivious to it?’ Kyrell wondered, giving Xavier a cryptic look.
Meanwhile, Sienna was bereft of speech and blinked at Xavier silently, wondering if she was now hearing things. "Did you just say Jordan faked his death or am I hallucinating now?" she asked, seeking clarification and Xavier smiled teasingly at her.
"You’re aren’t imagining things, Miss Lawrence. Jordan did fake his death. It became quite a sensation when the truth was revealed to the public."
"Why don’t I recall this case?" Sienna pondered, folding her hands and Frank immediately came to her rescue.
"Miss, I remember now. Blame my mind for being forgetful. The case had caught a lot of eyeballs. Even Sir and Young Master were following it," Frank said, finally remembering the news he had seen on the television once.
"Why don’t I know about it? Where was I?" she mumbled, turning back the time in her mind. "When did this happen?" she asked no one in particular.
"November 2023," Xavier answered, glancing at a perplexed Kyrell. The man understood at once why he didn’t know anything about the case. At that time, he wasn’t in the USA. He was on a mission in Brazil, unaware of everything that was happening back home.
"Ahh, that explains it." Sienna nodded, glad that someone had cleared her confusion. Otherwise, she’d have continued to rack her mind to find the answers. "I was in Australia at that time."
"Do you suspect him, Miss Lawrence?" Kyrell questioned, wondering if Jordan was somehow related to the murders. "Could he have planned the attack?"
"I can’t be sure. He faked his death. He might be as involved as everyone else who wants to destroy my family."
’True that,’ Xavier thought, tapping his fingers against his elbows lightly. "Miss Lawrence, would mind telling us everything you know about Jordan?"
"Well..." Sienna tilted her and walked around the long sofa set before taking the same spot she had when she had met them some time ago. The people from the Cheetah Corps were tactful. They didn’t sit in her spot, perceiving that it was where she usually sat.
"Jordan was an assistant manager in the operations team. Although he wasn’t that powerful, he still had access to the confidential documents," Sienna said, focusing more on Xavier who was sitting on her left.
"His manager found that Jordan was selling information to the rival company and he fired him right away. We filed a case against him." Sienna hesitated for a moment. Her knowledge on this matter was limited. "I don’t know much about it. Our company was branching out in Australia and I was in charge of it. So, my focus was all on that. The last thing I remember was Jordan was out on bail and he committed suicide the next day."
"I see. It matches with the information I have," Xavier added, giving his colleagues who knew about the case a quick stare.
"May I know how they determined he faked his death?" Sienna was intrigued and leaned forward slightly, glancing at Kyrell who was listening to their conversation silently.
"Well, that fool did try his best to burn the fake body completely and prevent the authorities from identifying him. But we are smart. It ain’t that easy to trick us" Xavier said with pride and Sienna quirked a brow in amusement. "We verified the DNA of the burnt body with Jordan’s. His was recorded in the system and they were far from matching."
"Was he caught?"
"Oh yeah. While trying to flee to Mexico."
Sienna didn’t speak for quite some time, and nobody said a word, unwilling to disturb her as she analyzed the situation.
"Shouldn’t Officer Jenkins know a thing or two about Andy?" Sienna finally turned to Kyrell who was sitting on her right. "Or is it normal that these things aren’t of much concern?"
Her tone wasn’t filled with ridicule. Instead, she was genuinely curious to know if the policeman knew about Andy and if he did, why did he allow Andy to handle her case. Andy may have been transferred because of orders from the higher authorities. But if Officer Jenkins wanted, he could have prevented the man from handling her case.
"Well... to answer that..." Xavier started, coming to his friend’s rescue. "Jordan didn’t have any children. Andy must be his sibling’s son or something."
"Ahh, no wonder." Sienna nodded, accepting his answer. "Is Jordan still in prison?"
"As far I know, yes. But we’ll have to verify with the police." Xavier stretched his arm on the sofa head and leaned back.
"Looks like we might have something now."
"I’ll talk to Officer Jenkins. He’ll investigate this matter thoroughly," Kyrell stated and Sienna looked at him for a few seconds before agreeing.
"Before I forget, Frank register all their biometrics and details. Only the people here will be authorized to enter the villa."
Frank understood what she was trying to convey and made note of it immediately. He now had to get the locks upgraded.
"Also," she turned to the nine people before her, her expression turning hard. I’ll give you all a list of people you might want to be wary about," Sienna said, beckoning Frank to come closer. "They may or may not have a hand in my family’s tragedy, but they aren’t good people."
"Miss?" Frank asked politely, ready to adhere to her instructions.
"Rupert’s family will create a ruckus. Be careful. Also, there’s Dane. He might not stay still."
"I understand, Miss." Frank’s phone rang at that moment and he noticed that their food had arrived.
While Frank went to receive the delivery, Sienna finally focused on the people whose names she still didn’t know.
"Forgive me for my rudeness, I forgot to ask you all your names."
"Let me." Kyrell took charge of introducing everyone to her. "Miss Lawrence, you’ve already met Xavier. That’s Kelsey, Amy, Kyle, Gary, Justin, Nick, and Isaac."
"Oh, that’s a lot of names for me to remember in such a short time. Forgive me if I were to not remember who you are."
"Not a problem, Miss Lawrence," Isaac said, speaking for the first time. "You’re smart. You’ll remember our names soon."
"I see what you’re doing there," Sienna commented, narrowing her eyes at him. But her lips didn’t stop smiling. "Isaac."
"Not bad, Miss Lawrence. You already memorized who I am."
"I had to. After all, you’re my family now. I can’t ignore my family, can I?"
A heavy silence fell upon everyone and Kyrell subconsciously moved closer to Sienna who was still smiling at Isaac. The only difference was that her smile had a sadness that no one could ignore.
Thankfully, Frank returned with the food right on time and Sienna was the first to break the tense silence.
"You must all be hungry. Please have your breakfast. I’ve some work to finish."
With that, Sienna stood up and left the living room.
