Accidentally Yours, Mr. Stranger-Chapter 42: Man from the past
Chapter 42: Man from the past
Kyrell didn’t reply, for Sienna was coming in their direction and Xavier went silent immediately.
Sienna didn’t notice anything amiss and smiled at Xavier. "You must be hungry. I apologize there is nothing in the villa. We moved in yesterday night and didn’t have time to stock the kitchen. I’ll get Frank to order breakfast for all of you."
"Thank you, Miss Lawrence. But let me warn you. We are all heavy eaters," Xavier said, not standing on ceremony and Sienna chuckled softly.
"You are protecting me by putting your lives at risk. I can at least ensure that you’re fed well," Sienna remarked and Xavier nodded in agreement. "And don’t worry. I can afford it."
Xavier didn’t doubt her on it. Sienna was loaded. Even if she didn’t work anymore and decided to remain idle for the rest of her life, she could feed all of them and still have enough money to last a few generations.
"I’m Sienna Lawrence and you are?" Sienna didn’t know any of their names. The introduction had remained brief, so brief that she had forgotten to enquire more about them.
"I’m Xavier McCarthy."
"Pleased to meet you, Mr. McCarthy. Please make yourself at home and do inform Frank if you need anything."
"Thank you, Miss Lawrence."
Xavier was surprised to see how down-to-earth Sienna was. He had expected her to be an arrogant Missy who looked down on others. He was ready to be judged and scorned. Never had he expected Sienna to be different than he had imagined. He now understood why his friend had a deep crush on her. Sienna was a woman worthy of being admired.
"Mr. Winchester, we’ll be leaving in two hours. Make the arrangements as you see fit."
"Yes, Miss Lawrence."
"I’ll be in the study if you need me."
Sienna nodded at the two men and returned to her room. Picking up her laptop and some of the files, she entered her study which was right beside her room.
"She’s good," Xavier commented once Sienna was out of sight.
"What?" Kyrell couldn’t comprehend what his friend was trying to convey and looked at him suspiciously.
"I was wrong about her. She isn’t anything like I thought her to be."
"And what did you think she was like?"
"A self-conceited woman who thinks she’s superior to everyone."
"What about now?" Kyrell asked, giving him a smug look.
"Are you that desperate to fish out compliments for your lady?" Xavier was annoyed. His friend was a goner. Did he have to behave so pathetic now that he was close to his lady love? He wasn’t the decisive and headstrong Kyrell anymore. He had changed.
"Yeah. After all, she’s brilliant," Kyrell complimented, his eyes filled with indulgence and admiration.
"You’re a gone case." Xavier was disgusted by his friend’s behavior. Can someone return him the friend he was familiar with? Who was this stranger occupying Kyrell’s body?
"So are you. Now, tell me. How do you want to divide the team?" Kyrell turned serious. It was time to think about work.
"I’m thinking of dividing ourselves into two groups of four and we take turns guarding her. It’ll help us learn more about her habits and get to know the people she works with and places she’s a regular to. What do you say?" Xavier asked, seeking his opinion on the matter.
"I had the same idea. I’ll be with Miss Lawrence at all times. So, you decide how you’re going to divide the team."
"You don’t want to miss any opportunity to be close to her, right? What’s going to happen to you?" Xavier sighed dramatically and Kyrell’s shoulders sagged.
"Can’t help it," Kyrell said sadly. "This might be the only way I can be close to her."
Xavier patted his friend’s shoulder. Although he sympathized with Kyrell, he still held onto his hopes that something might happen between them.
Meanwhile, Sienna drowned herself in her work, not caring about anything happening outside her study. She first looked at the legal notice Niall had sent all the people who had spread terrible rumors about her.
From the news agency to the public, everyone who had been involved in tarnishing her reputation had been pulled into the lawsuit. She didn’t give a damn if they apologized or not. Their apology held no value after what they did. Every action had consequences.
’They should have thought about it before spreading false news,’ she mumbled and focused on the next issue. Following her orders to the core, Simon had sent orders to pull back all investments from Rupert’s company. As expected, Rupert and his family were running around like headless chickens, looking for ways to solve the trouble they were in.
Satisfied, Sienna was about to start working when she recalled a matter. In her bid to find Frank and ensure his safety, she had completely forgotten about Andy Cahill, the man who had filed a false case against her.
Springing to her feet, Sienna left her study and went looking for Frank, who, at that moment, was ordering food for everyone.
"Miss, I was about to look for you. What do you want to eat?" Frank asked when he spotted her.
"Just order a sandwich or something. I’m not that hungry." Sienna nodded at all the people who had come down after freshening up.
"Frank, investigate Andy Cahill for me whenever you are free."
"Yes, Miss."
Sienna was about to return to her study when she heard Xavier say, "Andy Cahill? Why does his name sound familiar?"
"Do you know him?" Sienna questioned, looking at him strangely.
Even Kyrell stared at his friend questioningly. He didn’t recall knowing Andy Cahill. Did his friend know something?
"I find his name familiar, especially his surname."
"Isn’t it?" Sienna exclaimed, glad to have someone on her side. "I keep thinking I know something about this man. Where have I heard his surname?"
Biting her lip, she pulled out her phone and typed Andy Cahill’s name on the search bar. Immediately, some information about him popped up. But it wasn’t anything significant. She didn’t find anything useful. fгeewebnovёl.com
On the other hand, Xavier snuck his tongue out, trying to recall who he knew with the same surname.
’Cahill, Cahill, Cahill, who the hell are you?’ Xavier tapped his fingers anxiously and finally, after a few minutes, it struck him.
"Jordan Cahill. I know a person named Jordan Cahill. Does his name strike anything to anyone?"
Jordan Cahill.
"I remember now." Sienna felt her mind explode when she heard the name she knew. "Jordan Cahill, Andy’s father, I knew him."
Kyrell looked at her worriedly while the others looked back and forth at each other, not knowing what was happening.
"Jordan Cahill worked for the Lawrence Group. He was a department head or a manager or something of that sort. Dad fired him because he was selling our information to our rival company." Sienna now recalled everything. "If I’m not wrong, he committed suicide a few days after he was fired."
"Umm... Miss Lawrence," Xavier intervened, giving her a cryptic look. "Jordan isn’t dead actually."
"What do you mean?"
"Well, he faked his death. He is actually alive."
