Chapter 41: Best man

The people from the Cheetah Corps were punctual. They arrived at 8.30 sharp and Frank was amazed to see how incredible they all looked. Each one of them, including the two ladies seemed like soldiers. Their eyes were sharp and filled with determination as if they were ready for action any time of the day.

Frank did not doubt that with them around nothing would ever happen to Sienna. They wouldn’t allow her to be in danger ever.

Kyrell shook his head when he saw his friend Xavier among the others. He hadn’t expected this man to come as well but was glad he did. He could use a friend to share his thoughts and feelings. He was losing his mind keeping everything to himself.

Kyrell introduced the eight people to Frank and didn’t forget to mention their individual skills, assuring the old man more about their ability to protect Sienna.

Sienna was startled when she saw a crowd the moment she made her way downstairs. She blinked a few times, wondering what was happening. Why were there unfamiliar people in her villa?

Kyrell spotted Sienna making her downstairs and beamed at her, confusing her all the more.

"Miss Lawrence, your new security is here," he informed and Sienna’s eyes widened in realization. She had completely forgotten what Kyrell told her in the car.

"Oh, yeah. Yeah. Welcome, welcome." She smiled at the group of people who were observing her and sat on the couch with her legs crossed. Her poise and mannerisms were dignified and elegant. But she was also authoritative with an impeccable commanding presence. Everyone was drawn to her the moment they saw her.

Sienna ran her gaze around and examined the eight people one by one. They were staring at her blatantly. However, their gazes were filled with admiration and scrutiny and she didn’t feel repulsive even for a moment.

Nodding to herself, she made sure to look each person in the eye, greeting them with a subtle nod.

"I’m sorry you had to come here on such short notice." Sienna wasn’t a fool. The arrangements regarding her new security were made after they returned home. And considering they returned sometime after midnight, it was really admirable that they had arrived on such short notice.

"Miss Lawrence, it ain’t a problem. We are always prepared," Xavier remarked and Sienna’s eyes snapped to him instantly. She noticed that he was standing a step ahead of the others.

"Are you the leader?" she probed, interested in learning more about the people protecting her from now onward.

"No, Miss Lawrence. Kyrell is the leader. I’m the vice leader," Xavier replied instantly, flashing Kyrell a quick smile.

"I see. How’s this going to work?" Sienna asked, looking at Kyrell for clarification.

"Miss Lawrence, we will be divided into two teams. One team will guard the villa and the other will follow you."

"Oh!" Sienna didn’t know if the plan would work or not. Since she had handed the matter over to Kyrell, she didn’t intervene, allowing him to plan everything.

"One of the ladies will be with you whenever you leave the villa," Kyrell explained and Sienna nodded, discerning what he was implying.

"This is all stressing me out. Mr. Winchester, I’ll let you handle everything," Sienna said, shaking her head to clear her thoughts. "Frank, help them settle in. There aren’t enough rooms for all of you. You’ll have to adjust with each other."

Sienna flashed them an apologetic smile and Kyrell went speechless at her words. The villa was ginormous and had eight rooms. Wasn’t that enough? They didn’t mind sharing a room.

"Yes, Miss. I’ll handle everything," Frank said, already planning how to allocate the rooms.

"Miss Lawrence, what is your plan for today?" Kyrell questioned once his people had dispersed to freshen up first.

"I need to return to the estate. I have quite a few files I must retrieve," Sienna said and pushed her tongue against the inside of her cheek thoughtfully. "I’ll go to the company in the afternoon."

"Okay, Miss Lawrence."

Sienna tilted her head as a thought popped into her mind. "Do your people know how to cook? Frank can’t handle everything himself."

Kyrell realized what she was trying to say and nodded lightly. "Don’t worry, Miss Lawrence. My people can manage."

"Great. Please make sure they settle down properly. Inform Frank if you need anything."

Sienna stood up and entered the kitchen and Kyrell watched her from where he was. The open kitchen allowed him to see her clearly from where he was. Once again, his heartbeat spiked when he saw her push her hair behind her ear, exposing her fair neck to him.

"Control yourself, Ky. Otherwise, you might scare the lady before you get her," Xavier whispered, startling Kyrell with his sudden appearance.

"When did you come here?" Kyrell asked, his forehead marring with crease lines. ’When did Xavier return? Why didn’t I detect him?’

"When you were gazing at Miss Lawrence lovingly. Control yourself, lover boy." Xavier winked at him and Kyrell rolled his eyes in dismay.

"When did you find out?"

"Long ago. Did you think you could hide your feelings from me?" Xavier quirked his brows twice questioningly.

"How did you find out?" Kyrell narrowed his eyes, discretely trying to recall if he had shown any signs before Xavier. But he couldn’t think of anything he did that could have given him away.

"Do you think I’m blind? I noticed how your eyes changed every time there was some news about her. Your Google search history is all about her, and you even downloaded pictures of her on your phone." Xavier smirked and glanced at Sienna who was cutting an apple. "If I didn’t know you, I’d have assumed you to be a creep."

"Shh, keep your voice down," Kyrell commanded harshly and glared at him and Xavier just shook his head, finding his friend utterly hopeless.

"Aren’t you going to tell her about how you feel?"

"Am I stupid to do that? It’s been just a few days since we met." Kyrell looked at him as if he were a fool. "Moreover, the disparity in our status is too much. I don’t think anything will ever happen between us."

"Why are you so pessimistic? What if something actually happens between you two?" Xavier questioned, looking at him sternly.

"In your dreams." Kyrell scoffed, not entertaining his crazy thoughts. Although he hoped for something to happen between him and Sienna, he knew his limits. He didn’t dare imagine anything.

"What if something were to happen between you two? What will you do then?" Xavier probed, not allowing his friend to brush off the matter just like that.

"Then, you’ll be my best man at my wedding." Kyrell entertained him this time. But he had no hopes. Sienna and he were from different worlds and he didn’t think anything would ever happen between him. At most, he’d be her bodyguard. Nothing more.

"You said it." Xavier snapped his fingers, sealing his words in his mind. His lips curled up into a smirk, looking at him as if victory was already in his hands. "Don’t forget it when the time comes."
