Yarra's Adventure Notes-Chapter 1464 - 250: The Anxious Queen
Chapter 1464: Chapter 250: The Anxious Queen
The nightblade leopard streaked like lightning, a blur trailing behind it as it sped from afar. On the nightblade leopard’s back, Her Majesty the Elf Queen, dressed in verdant hunting attire, had her hair flying about as if she were Artemis gliding through the jungle. Her Majesty’s impressive demeanor was mesmerizing. However, the young girls felt an unsettling trepidation rising within them.
Over the years, after several meetings, the girls had grown quite familiar with Flare. Her Majesty was not only stunning in appearance but also gracious and majestic in her movements, always exuding a serene confidence as if nothing in the world could perturb her. This time, however, her usual elegance and nobility were absent. Though the substitute briskness was equally beautiful, this inexplicable change was a clear indication of the abnormality behind it, suggesting that it must be an extremely urgent situation for the Elf Queen to present herself in such a manner. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
The nightblade leopard, with its nimble strides, nearly reached the top of the temple stairs before it stopped. Even from a distance, the girls could feel a wave of heat emanating from the beast, a testament to its prolonged swift running that caused its muscles to emit such warmth that it radiated several meters around it. If it were not Flare’s animal partner and incapable of receiving energy regulation from the queen, it would have likely roasted from the heat it generated. Even now, with the queen’s assistance, the poor nightblade leopard looked exhausted, lying on the steps panting with its tongue out, probably unable to stand up without a good rest.
However, Flare had no time to comfort her weary partner. She merely patted the nightblade leopard’s head briefly before she hastened toward the temple entrance. Her urgency was palpable as she ran past the altar, barely giving the conspicuous altar a glance, and likewise, she casually acknowledged the undead leaders standing behind the girls with a nod, sparing no words, her focus entirely on the girls in front of her.
"Your Majesty," Catherine frowned, observing the unruly-haired, dirt-streaked face of the Elf Queen, the trails of sweat clear through the grime, which starkly hinted at Flare’s dishevelment and haste, causing the knightly girl to forego formal greetings and ask urgently, "What happened? Why such haste? Nothing’s wrong in the Yarran World, is it?"
"No, nothing there, the concern is for you," replied Flare, her pale green eyes tinged with worry as she glanced around and asked, "Where’s Kyle? Why isn’t he here?"
"Pannis has already gone inside," said Catherine. "Is there something you need with him?"
"He’s already in there?" Flare raised her voice, pacing back and forth anxiously after Catherine nodded confirmation, muttering to herself, "This is troublesome, no, I have to go in too."
"Are you sure you want to go in?" Sophia, who had remained silent until now, finally spoke, "Although I don’t know who you are, from the way you both are acting, your intentions seem clear. If you really want to go in, we won’t stop you."
"No, I will stop her," interrupted Shiela, the ghostly figure with a frown, "From her attire, I can affirm she is our queen of the Elves. I cannot allow her to venture in recklessly, certainly not while she is still queen."
"You think I am an idiot?" countered Sophia, "With all this commotion, if we couldn’t see there’s an issue, we might as well dismantle our bones for building materials."
"Let’s not deviate from the topic, even if she is the queen of the Elves, you have no right to stop her. She has her own authority to decide," said Shiela sternly, adding, "But are you sure your sudden intrusion won’t backfire?"
"You don’t understand, there is no backfire possible. I must go in," Flare dismissed the undead’s disagreement and continued pacing, "No, I shouldn’t go in, it would only complicate things more, just causing him trouble. But I can’t just watch either, why did you let him go in so early? He could have waited a bit longer. If only I had been faster."
It was the first time Catherine had seen such an agitated and uneasy side of the typically graceful and gentle queen, who rambled incoherently, blaming Pannis and then herself. The puzzled knightly girl could only smile wryly and cautiously asked, "Your Majesty, what exactly happened to make you so anxious? Maybe if you calm down a bit and explain, we could think of a solution together?"
"That isn’t right," perhaps triggered by Catherine’s persuasion or her own unraveling thoughts, the queen finally regained her ability to think clearly and looked at Catherine with confusion, "I was chasing the location of ’that item’ all the way here, but how did it end up on you? Didn’t he take it inside?"
"Uh, are you talking about ’that’?" Catherine immediately guessed what Flare was referring to and covertly glanced at Sophia, the undead elf nearby, whispering, "Those four items are indeed with me now, can I hand them to you?"
"Yes, but keep them with you for now," Flare’s expression still showed confusion and dissatisfaction, "Why would he give those items to you? They were kept by me for his survival."
"I don’t quite understand either, Your Majesty, you know, he always manages to come up with reasons that are hard to discern as true or false," Catherine said distressedly, "But he did tell me to make sure they were passed to you, and he said that you shouldn’t bring such things out to scare people anymore."
"Ah, I see," Flare gritted her teeth and said, "He still has time to worry about me? He’s in trouble himself, and if things go wrong, I can’t even bear to think about what might happen to him."
"Your Majesty, we still don’t know what’s actually going on," the ever-curious Lina couldn’t hold back any longer and urged, "Can you tell us first?"
"Telling you won’t make any difference," Flare sighed, "But fine, I’ll tell you, and maybe you can help me think of a solution."
