Chapter 131: Chapter 51 Daily Life_2
The purple-robed Mage was startled, then heard the sound, similar to tearing fabric, from behind. Catherine, who he had disregarded, charged at him with Fearless Charge once more, her sword aimed at his back of his head. The sharp sword, shining with the light of Aggression, collided with the Mage’s Magic Shield. A temporary pale blue Magic Shield morphed under the attacking sword filled with penetrating Aggression. When the sword had spent almost all its force, the Shield could no longer hold and dissipated into thin air.
The moment the Shield disappeared, Catherine didn’t hesitate. Her nearly charred left hand clenched into a fist and hit the back of the Mage’s head. At the same time, Pannis in front slid his feet, forming a quick curve towards the Mage and approaching swiftly from the side. His dagger appeared and reappeared in his fingertips, like the sharp fangs of a venomous snake.
The Mage snorted, and a real Shield appeared at his command. The eye-catching blue Shield was virtually tangible, encompassing his entire being. The powerful Shield deflected the charge from Pannis and Catherine as if they hit a thick wall. The huge force threw them several meters back and they rolled many times before the force subsided.
"Hehehe." Pannis, who had rolled a few times but quickly got up and was in a defensive posture once more, didn’t lose heart due to the failed attack but chuckled instead. The purple-robed Mage didn’t continue his attack either, but clenched his teeth and glared at the two who had regrouped.
"So you finally use your real power, huh?" Pannis sneered with an eerie smile, "Let me guess, how long do you think it will take for Odin to rush over here once he senses the energy of a Legendary Rank battle erupting in his territory?"
"You can continue." Catherine, who had been silent in her attacks, finally spoke, "Why not bet on whether you can kill us in time?" fгeewebnovёl.com
"Yes, there might still be time." The dagger flipped at Pannis’s fingertips at a dizzying speed, "So, shall we give it a go?"
"Humph." The purple-robed Mage scoffed, turning to Catherine, "Just a Gold Rank Guardian Knight who can withstand three of my magics without a shield. I admit, I underestimated you."
Catherine’s left arm hung down limp. Her charred skin had splits that revealed the bright red flesh underneath. The liquid from her tissues oozed out from the splits, dripping onto the ground. Hearing the Mage’s words, Catherine simply smiled and raised her sword to her brow in salute, "I admit, we are not a match for you, but if you wish to continue, we won’t step back."
"You’ve won this time." The purple-robed Mage gently stroked the ring embedded with bones on his right hand’s index finger, which began to flash with the light of magic, "I remember you two; you desecrated my god’s rituals and I won’t let you off so easily. Pray you never meet me again, or else... hehe."
"Hehe, worry about yourself." Pannis twirled the dagger in his hand, chuckling in response.
As the ring on the Mage’s finger glowed brighter, a complex Teleportation Array made of light appeared under his feet, "We’ll see about that."
As the Array started, a small hole appeared in the room’s walls without a trace. The whole wall turned into countless grains of dust, revealing the external street. The Mage’s left hand, which was fading, was suddenly blown into pieces without warning. A shriek echoed throughout the room.
"Serves you right," Pannis scoffed, "If you wanted to escape, should’ve done so sooner. All that talk and no one will miss you if you die, idiot."
Catherine, who had been standing straight, started swaying once she saw the Mage escape. She staggered and fell onto the ground, panting, "He’s finally left; we’ve survived. Did the president come?"
"It was his arrow." Pannis nodded, "He must have chased the Mage, but given that this man was prepared, he might not catch up. How are you holding up?"
"It’s OK, I’m not going to die." Catherine threw her sword aside, wiped the ash-grey sweat off her face leaving a few dark fingerprints, "What a night. Who would’ve known a Legendary Rank was hidden here. Luckily he was afraid of being discovered by the president and his crew and held back somewhat, or else I might already be dead."
"You’re not going to die. Your Aggression is tailored for defensive maneuvers. You could resist magic attacks from a Legendary Rank Mage for a while." Pannis knelt beside Catherine, holding her charred left hand and inspected it, "It’s not so bad, just some external burns, a visit to the Life Temple should suffice."
"Such a random fight, almost died randomly too." Leaning on Pannis, Catherine staggered towards the hole leading to the adjacent room, "We left without even figuring out what happened."
"No need to worry. Odin and his team can solve the remaining issues." Pannis grimaced, "We don’t have to do unpaid work."
"You’re such a character." Catherine couldn’t help but laugh and shook her head, "Can’t you say something appropriate even when you’ve done a good deed?"
"Ah, Sister Catherine, how could you be injured so badly!" Luna’s tremulous cry of fear came from the next room.
"Don’t worry, it’s just a small injury; we get them every day. Hehe, we’re used to it. You’re safe now, little Luna, you can go home." Catherine comforted her gently.
"Small injury, small injury," Pannis mumbled under his breath, showing a hint of dissatisfaction, "Does cooked to an eighty percent count as a small injury? Every day? Even lies should have a limit! Have you considered being beaten half dead as a daily routine? You’re a knight, a girl, not a punching bag."
From outside the crumbled wall, the belated city guards could be heard running about in confusion. Far away, three moons hung quietly in the night sky over the City of Knowledge.
Here, this was merely a corner of the City of Knowledge. What happened here was just an unremarkable anecdote in the city’s history of several hundred years.
This day was just an ordinary one in the lives of Nellie’s adventure team. The story of this day was just another common yarn in the hazardous yet vibrant daily life of Nellie’s adventure team.
