"Our spies reported they will attack us tomorrow morning." Scarlett responded, "Joshua and his subordinates are currently on their way to Icria City. They would gather there before launching their assault."

Ren’s expression darkened.

’I will destroy Nafield City and attack them before they reach Icria City.’

When he was about to walk out of her office, he was stopped by her.

"Ren, stop! I need you to calm the citizens." She could easily read his mind because it was written on his face.

"Calm the citizens?" he still didn’t understand her words.

"I will gather my people in fifteen minutes, and your presence will be the key to reassuring them." His Mage class had broken through to the 4-star, and his Warrior class had reached Grandmaster rank, so she believed the citizens would feel much safer if they knew about this.

"Alright." He changed his mind instantly because she needed him.

Fifteen minutes later, she gathered her people in the city square.

Like when magical beasts were about to attack them, her people showed their loyalty by saying they would defend the city with her.

"Handsome is Ren." She answered, "I’m his lover."

"Ren’s woman?" Captain Noah didn’t believe her immediately because he had never seen her with Ren before.

"You might not know it, but we were always together when he visited the mine." She was not lying when she said this because she always followed him. "I came here because I want to help him protect his hometown."

"Then, I will take you to him now." Captain Noah didn’t believe her completely, so he decided to escort her to Ren because, with this, he would know right away if she lied to him.

"Great!" Diana was pleased that things were going her way.

But when they were about to enter the gate, one of Ren’s subordinates stopped them.

"Captain Noah, don’t let that woman enter our city!" Daven shouted when he saw them.

Captain Noah stopped his footsteps and turned around. "Daven, why did you stop me from bringing her into the city? Isn’t she your leader’s woman?"

"Huh? Leader’s woman?" Daven was baffled. "No! She is not our leader’s girlfriend. You are being fooled by her, Captain."

Captain Noah’s expression darkened as he turned to Diana. "What do you mean by this? Why are you lying to me?"

"I’m not lying to you. We may not be a couple yet, but it’s only a matter of time before we become one. Maybe in a few days or months." Diana was confident that Ren would be hers in the end because she could feel that he had already started to open his heart to her.

Given enough time, she believed he would open his heart to her fully and accept her as his woman.

"Captain Noah, she was the representative of Nafield City in the duel for the mine." Daven would not let her enter the city because he didn’t want her to disturb his leader like when they were in the mine.

"Representative of Nafield City?" Captain Noah immediately pushed her away.

"Captain, I was only hired by them, and I have cut off my ties with them." Diana didn’t fight back when he pushed her away because Ren would be angry at her if she hurt his fellow citizens.

"I still can’t let you enter our city." Captain Noah didn’t change his mind because he was afraid that she was a spy sent by Nafield City.

"Then, can you let Handsome meet me? He will prove that I’m truly on your side," She still tried to enter the city.

"You can come back again after we get through this state of emergency," Captain Noah responded.

Right after he kicked her out of the city, a golden barrier materialized, separating them and protecting the city.

"Grrr..." Diana gritted her teeth in annoyance.

’Should I destroy this barrier?’

A crazy idea popped up in her mind.

She shook her head immediately because it would make her relationship with Ren and the citizens worse.

They marched toward Nightshire City without a trace of worry or fear because they believed they would win the war.

"Major Melvin, what should we do to Nightshire City after we conquer it?" Joshua asked curiously.

"His Majesty ordered me to replace the current lord with someone who would never defy his orders." Major Melvin gave an honest answer.

"Then, can you let me be the one to finish off the city mistress?" Xander inquired.

Nightshire City’s soldiers had killed countless of his people. Ren had even wreaked havoc in his city and impaled the heads of two of his soldiers on spears as a gift for him.

He could only get rid of the hatred and anger in his heart by taking Scarlett’s life, so he requested Major Melvin not to kill her after defeating her.

Before Major Melvin could answer his question, Darren interjected.

"No! Her life can only end by my hands." Darren’s tone alone made it clear that his hatred for Scarlett was deep.

Joshua and Xander exchanged surprised glances at Darren’s sudden outburst.

’Did something happen to him when he delivered the royal decree to Nightshire City?’

They knew Darren was the Royal Envoy since he had delivered a decree to them before.

Major Melvin glanced at Darren without saying a single word.
