Transmigrated as the Novel's Final Boss-Chapter 34:The Capital [2]
Chapter 34: Chapter 34:The Capital [2]
I had completely forgotten about her and just assumed she would be here.
Rapidly glancing around, I attempted to find her.
The field of grass between the walls was far too crowded, so the secret spot she had talked about had to be up here, beyond the walls.
However, before I could finish looking around, a sudden robotic-like voice interrupted my search.
"She’s over there."
Looking to my right, I saw Evangel pointing to the left with her hand, and following her gaze, I spotted another tree in the distance.
Looking over the marketplace and grass field below, I found another patch of small grass opposite us, beyond the left wall of the marketplace.
And, there below the tree, sat a familiar figure, completely alone while staring ahead at the lake.
We had chosen the wrong wall.
As my gaze paused on Liana’s sole figure, a sudden voice interrupted from my right once again.
"I can take us over there if y-"
Cutting Evangel off mid-sentence, I immediately looked away from Liana and replied.
"You’ve done more than enough; it’s my fault for not seeing her while we were flying and deciding to choose the wrong wall."
The fireworks show would start any second now, and Evangel was completely exhausted, so there would be no way for us to make it to Liana on time.
Looking upward, I peered through the dense branches of the sole tree above us and saw the night-black sky, which was illuminated by the moon and countless stars.
It was weird knowing this life of mine in this world could crumble at any moment and disappear.
If my identity as a demon were discovered, I would be undoubtedly imprisoned or killed, and my freedom would be gone.
However, that threat of my life disappearing made me cherish small moments like this, where I could sit back and simply watch a fireworks show.
Leaning backward, I felt the soft trunk of the oak tree brush against my back before turning to my right.
And, there, Evangel sat...with the mochi still in her right hand.
Perhaps noticing my gaze, Evangel looked up from the grass once again and said.
"I’ve got enough mana to ta-"
Sighing, I grabbed the mochi out of her hands and stuffed it into her open mouth, just like last time.
As the mochi remained half inside and half outside her mouth, Evangel still attempted to finish her sentence, but all that came out was a bunch of nonsensical grumbling.
Letting my backrest against the tree trunk, I pointed forward and said to Evangel, who still hadn’t begun to chew her mochi.
"Look forward, you don’t want to miss it."
Heeding my words, Evangel suspiciously stared forward at the great blue lake, and at that very moment, a sudden flash appeared in the distance.
*POP!*
*POP!*
*POP*
Hundreds of fireworks, shining under the night-black sky, flung into the air in unison, floating over the night-blue lake.
Then, just as they reached the apex of their trajectory, the fireworks paused in the air, seemingly defying gravity.
*CRACKLE*
*BOOM*
*CRACKLE*
*BOOM
*CRACKLE*
*BOOM*
Then, with a thunderous sound, the hundreds of fireworks exploded into a dazzling burst of gold and crimson, raining sparkles like falling stars.
One after another, the fireworks soared through the air and reached their climax, leaving glowing golden and green trails.
The cascades of emerald greens, electric blues, deep purples, firey reds, and gold colors filled the night-black sky, making it seem as if it were day time. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
The colors descended like a celestial waterfall, leading into the vast blue ocean below and disappearing after a couple of seconds.
Looking to the right, where Evangel was sitting, I could see the cacophony of vibrant colors through her usual snow-white pupils.
Her usual nonchalant demeanor was nowhere to be seen as her mouth was wide open, with the mochi ball still sticking out, and her eyebrows were raised.
Staring straight up and through the branches of the tree above, I did not a see a single hint of black or darkness above.
It was all so...colorful.
For the next two minutes, fireworks continued to be fired off session, with "BOOMS!" and "CRACKLES" echoing through the silent night.
As the last set of fireworks was about to be released, I rapidly stood up and attempted to grasp Evangel’s attention; however, she was frozen.
No matter how loud I asked or talked, she continued staring on as the fireworks exploded in front of her, their colors reflecting in her pupils.
Not wanting to waste anymore time, I tapped her shoulder, and finally, she seemed to realize and swivel her head toward me like an owl.
Pointing up at the tree directly above us, I immediately said.
"Let’s go up."
Then, without waiting for her response, I leaped upward onto the lowest branch of the tree and hung my arm below.
After a couple of seconds, a soft yet warm sensation flooded my palm, so I immediately yanked it upward.
Simalteonously, Evangel leaped into the air and, with the help of my hand, landed on the lowest branch beside me, her gaze flickering between the fireworks and my figure.
With the strawberry mochi still sticking out of her mouth, she looked like a rabbit carrying a carrot.
Smiling, I climbed up the tree until I was finally on the top branch and looked downward, seeing Evangel following behind me.
As she ascended onto the top branch, a couple of inches away from me, I stretched out my arm and pointed toward the lake.
Though I had never seen this firework show, I knew the last one had to be the best.
*CRACKLE*
At that moment, a lone firework blasted into the air like a rocketship, leaving a trail of divine-blue colored smoke behind it.
*BOOM*
Then, reaching its climax, the firework exploded.
One color flowed out of the firework.
A light-blue cloud spread out amongst the sky, its bottom touching the lake and its top seemingly next to the moon.
In the next moment, the smoke began to clear and fade away, leaving a light blue outline in the sky.
The outline...formed a figure. A familiar figure to both Evangel and I.
In front of me, and outlined in light-blue, the distinct and towering figure of the previous hero stood, watching.
