Chapter 495: Time away (3)

"She is too cute. She really did try her best to stay awake with us," Siena said, looking at Lydia resting her head on Annalise’s lap and her little feet spread out on the chair. "I hope my children will be as cute as her."

"You are already thinking of children? You must be careful because Logan might be able to hear us and feel pressured into giving you the children you seek. Now is not the time to have him panicking," Annalise answered, smiling as she raked her fingers through Lydia’s hair.

"I suppose so. When he panics, it is like all sense leaves his body. It is cute," Siena chuckled, covering her mouth with her hand to hide the smile that followed. "I am not that ready for children. I still have much to learn about Logan."

"Sure sure. There won’t be anyone keeping an eye on you so one day you might come whispering to me about having a child-"

"Annalise," Siena whined, embarrassed about what Annalise was implying.

"Oh come on. I fail to believe it has not crossed your mind. Logan was not the man for me, but I can admit that he is quite handsome and I did see you staring when he was training in the garden. It is certainly a good sight," Annalise said, imagining Rafael training without his shirt. "I am thinking of Rafael. Not Logan."

"I assumed that much. He is handsome and leads me to think about things I must not give into," Siena said, covering her face with her hands. "If he were to know my thoughts, he would be embarrassed."

"I would say that he would be quite excited," Annalise replied.

"I have never felt this way for anyone. I feel like I am making a fool of myself when I think about him. It is all new feelings and I like it. He makes me act unlike myself," Siena confessed, slowly moving her hands from her face to look at Annalise.

"I still wonder if at any point this was how I looked when I was realising my feelings for Rafael," said Annalise.

"It might be. It is good that we have both found men who we can be ourselves around. I no longer have to put on an act to please anyone around me. The one thing I can say I like about living with Travis is gaining you as a friend. I’d be stuck following orders if you didn’t come around," Siena said, forever appreciative of Annalise pushing her to stand up for herself.

Siena had yet to find out where Kayla went, but for now, she was going to focus on her life as Kayla seemed to be focusing on her own.

"Annalise! We have people approaching us," Logan yelled from the driver’s seat.

"Just go ahead and stop when they instruct you to," Annalise answered, looking out the window at the familiar land. "We are home," she spoke softly, tending to Lydia who was still sound asleep.

The carriage continued to get closer to the border and after a quick stop to check who was inside, they were escorted back to their home by the men Phillip sent to ensure they made it back safely.

Lydia stirred around on Annalise’s lap because the path was a bit too bumpy for the carriage. A carriage had never travelled this way and now a new road would have to be made. Eventually, one of the wheels became stuck and they could go no further.

"Do you want me to carry her out?" Siena offered to lift Lydia.

They were close to one of the houses Siena remembered and it wouldn’t be a long walk to Annalise’s parent’s house.

"It is fine. I can lift her to the house. If I can just figure out how to move her without waking her," Annalise muttered, feeling stuck because of how Lydia went to sleep. "I should have let her sleep on my lap. I will wait here until my father arrives. He will be here faster than anyone."

Siena decided to stay with Annalise instead of going ahead alone. She looked forward to seeing Annalise be reunited with her family and then getting to meet Lydia for the first time.

Just as Annalise said, Phillip was quick to make his way to them after hearing about an unfamiliar carriage coming into town. Celine was not far behind him, trying to keep up to meet Lydia at the same time.

Phillip went straight to the carriage window and looked inside at Annalise with a little girl resting on her. His hand was on the door to open it but he was lost in looking at his daughter and granddaughter.

"Oh, there she is," Celine whispered. "Sound asleep." fɾēewebnσveℓ.com

"Why are they just staring at us? If she were awake, they would scare her," Annalise said, confused by her parents watching from outside when the door wasn’t locked. "I will just wake her so we can get out. They are starting to scare me. Lydia," she called to the sleeping child whilst tapping her. "It is time to wake."

It took a few more tries to wake Lydia as she was tired from trying to stay awake with Annalise.

Lydia slowly sat up, rubbing her eyes and yawning.

"Did you have a good sleep?" Annalise asked, raking her fingers through Lydia’s hair once more to fix the side Lydia slept on.

Lydia nodded her head and now that she was somewhat awake, she looked around and spotted Phillip just as he opened the door. She inched closer to Annalise, afraid of the people she didn’t know. Lydia stared at Phillip and then at Annalise, noticing a few similarities between the two.

Annalise smiled because Lydia slowly putting together that the strangers were her parents. "We’ve arrived at our home. Your grandparents are acting a little strange but I promise they are good. We need to get out now so you can go to them."

"Okay," Lydia said, slipping down from the seat.

Annalise caught Lydia’s arm before she could stumble and helped her walk over to Phillip for him to help Lydia down.

Lydia stared at the man who was tall like Rafael and River. She wanted to be tall like him too. Since everyone in her family was tall, then she should grow to be the same.

"Oh, she is the cutest little thing," Celine commented, trying to resist her need to pick Lydia up and squeeze her. She touched her cheeks, wondering if she was starting to look old already now that she was a grandmother.

Phillip reached out to lift Lydia from the carriage and placed her on the ground beside him.

Lydia was more amazed by his height now that she was not standing on the carriage. "He is tall like Rafael," she told Annalise.

Phillip frowned as the child had made the mistake of thinking he was anything like Rafael. He would let it go for now because he had not taught her how much he was better than her bastard father. She had much to learn and he was ready to teach her.

"Father, whatever you are planning to do, please forget about it," Annalise said, knowing her father had to be bothered by Lydia’s comment.
